My parents took me here right off the plane for a tasty and healthy vegetarian lunch. The menu was so enticing it was hard to select what I wanted. We got the carrot and fennel soup, shareable plates with tofu and harissa yams and the Buddha bowl. I also had the matcha green iced tea (which was amazing!) I don't make it to Sarasota as often as I would like but this place is a clean, creative and flavorful! Some of the items were a little too spicy for my mom, but I thought they were well balanced and expertly plated! Lila was amazing! Since I am gluten, dairy, & egg intolerant, this brought some of my favorite dishes to life in a way that I can eat & feel great. To start we had the gluten & vegan bread with vegan butter & it was an amazing treat for someone who can't have real bread & you knew it was homemade. We had the gluten free penne alla vodka & the noodles were so amazing. Almost better than normal pasta (before I switched to gluten free LOL). We also had the mushroom spider sushi roll which was so good!! I was impressed with the service, our food came out quickly, & we were checked on regularly. Lila is a top notch dining experience all around. As a long-time vegan, it is so refreshing to find a place that offers fine dining with numerous vegan options. My only complaint is that I wish I had the appetite to order half the menu! The atmosphere is chic and modern, the wait staff is friendly and extremely hospitable and the food is fantastic! I had the captain's roll and the lentil soup and both were absolutely delicious. Sadly, I'm not a local so I won't be able to try all the other amazing options on the menu but when I return to Sarasota, Lila will be the first place I go to for a quality meal. This is my favorite restaurant! I LOVE this place! I don't eat out much anymore because I avoid sugar (which is in everything you don't make yourself.) lila doesn't put sugar in anything (except their mustard, I think.) if a sweetener is used, they use maple syrup or honey. I love that I can eat here and don't have to worry about what I'm putting in my body, or how I'm going to feel later. I don't eat meat, but I've eaten everything else on the menu- you cannot choose wrong! I also like going early, when the place is quiet. read more

A very creative menu & great for the vegetarian in our group. The rice tot appetizer was probably our favorite item! Crunchy & delicious - great with the spicy mayo & sauce for dipping. The roasted beet appetizer was disappointing - no evidence these beets were prepared as "roasted" with any depth of flavor. If they'd been described just as "sliced beets" (like what you get in a package of precooked, ready to eat beets), we probably would have been happy. They're still very good & yummy with the goat cheese, etc. Very generous portions of vegan sushi rolls, but the Garden Roll was maybe a "2". No evidence of tempura asparagus & the carrot was cut too large on balance for the roll. The Crispy Crab was a mystery - thought it would have some version of fried vegan "crab" but actually the whole roll was tempura fried & didn't have much to it. Giving that one a 3. And we also had a Korean Rice Bowl - it was well balanced in both texture & flavor - a "4". Drinks were great. The bar was super fast. We loved the fresh, light Gingered Margarita & the Barbebelle rose. Had lots of fun requesting songs on the Rockbot app. And 5 stars for our waiter Jorge. He has incredible awareness for knowing how much time to give you in ordering, refilling drinks, & explaining & recommending the dishes. Pleasantly surprised by how flavorful the dishes here were. It's known for its many vegan and vegetarian options, but there are plenty of dishes catering to carnivores as well. We shared small plates including the gnocchi, which is the best I've ever had. It melts in your mouth but not before getting through the flavor and texture of a light char. It's under the sharable small plates; small it is but definitely not sharable. Note, it does have mushrooms, which is not listed in the description. The restaurant is a great addition to the Main St family of restaurants. It's unlike any other in the area and a lovely place to dine with a group or a date. read more

This was a pleasantly surprising gem right underneath my nose on Main Street in Sarasota. The place has been open for about a year and a half. I walked in alone around 3 pm on a Monday. I was the only patron at the time. It's an upscale place. I was immediately approached and seated. I chose the Buddha Bowl which was listed under an easily to read menu as warm and vegan. Perfect It had squash, yam, kale, quinoa, pistachio falafel, tahini sauce, pumpkin seeds and onion. Cost $15. I thought it was delicious. I don't see any desserts listed for those of us who like something a little sweet. On the back of the menu is a lot of alcohol choices. Give this unique place a try. You have a lot of play room with the menu to add chicken, tofu, shrimp etc. read more

I used to love Lila but it's now kind of meh. They got rid of the sweet potato fries and the truffle potatoes tasted like nothing, could barely taste the truffle and the feta was meh. The Korean bowl was meh, the Burmese bowl sauce was good but those noodles are pretty awful. Just a bunch of noodles that feel like overcooked thin spaghetti. ORIGINAL REVIEW: One of the best restaraunts in Sarasota! We love how the chef is experimental. Instead of traditional cheese, the chef uses things like almond-based cheese. You can still get certain meat dishes. For example we had the salmon which was cooked to perfection. The only gripe is that service is not great. We usually have to flag down a servers, but that is excusable given the times we live in. Maybe they should just train their staff to be more attentive and pleasing to the guests. In a world of redundant recipes, this chef delivers unique, never been seen before, recipes that feel both healthy and satiating! Additionally our cocktail was delicious. It was like an Aperol Spritz but better! This is a must if you are visiting Sarasota! Keep up the great work! read more

This is a great vegan and veggie friendly farm to table restaurant! I think they are known for their bowls. We didn't know this before going and got the burgers instead. The mushroom burger was filling and satisfying, but the crispy unchikin burger was a bit disappointing. It came highly recommended by the waitress, but I didn't leave impressed. The spring rolls were also subpar. Over all I think it's a great place for veg, but the food is average. Bathrooms were clean and there's a parking lot across the street if you can't get street parking that's $4 for an hour. read more

Love the vibe of this place! The menu is very diverse and unique in that you can order pretty much anything vegan or vegetarian and then add whatever kind of protein option you love. OMG fantastic vegetarian/vegan spot in downtown Sarasota. Beautiful two-story storefront interior. Good separation between the tables for privacy. And yes, they offer stevia in the raw AND Truvia for our iced tea! Most restaurants do not carry either, unfortunately. I ordered the Buddha Bowl, which the server said was their most popular dish. They offered us either breakfast or lunch, and there was plenty of variety on the menu. Sophia had the Macro Bowl. The food was wonderful. So fresh and tasty! On our way home. Flight delayed and we yelp found this local vegan friendly restaurant. Nice charming beautiful place with super friendly staff. We ordered Burmese bowl. We have it an 7.5/10. It was tasty.and.had turmeric flavor to it. Did it taste Burmese. Yes if you consider turmeric part of Burmese culture. It was delicious though. On the other had the grilled tofu had too much of "carbon" on it. It tasted like over toasted blackened bread. The sauce was tangy however it killed my appetite having to munch on carbon . Maybe other dishes wud have been good but this was just yucks... Total for the bowl $27/. I am not what you would even compare to a vegan. I love meat! Last night, I joined friends at Lila. Most of their menu is Vegan, Gluten Free, or both. I was reluctant. That sounds like nothing I would enjoy. Ultimately, I ordered the Cauliflower Rigatoni with Bolognese and Cashew Ricotta. I had a side of gluten free, sugar free bread with vegan butter. Oh. My. Goodness. It was delicious. The portions were generous (I was able to bring half back to the hotel and my son devoured it. We will both go back. I truly never realized how well the GF/Vegan food could be when prepared at a restaurant. Usually, it's bland without sauces and quite boring. This was a delightful surprise. read more

This was my second time to this great place! I love that the majority of the items were vegan. The not so chicken sandwich was excellent and so was the curry noodle bowl I ordered. I chose the falafel and it was better than the typical. Delicious!!! The raspberry iced tea was really good too. The server was friendly and nice. We were able to sit outside and enjoy dinner "out". We were excited to try this place as my boyfriend and I are vegan, and we brought our non-vegan friend who was visiting. We were very disappointed. We'll start by saying the cappuccinos were good (though small) and our friend liked his burrito. That's about all that we can compliment. My boyfriend didn't like his Med Bowl at all and it was tiny for the price. I am allergic to garlic and onions and apparently, all the dressings for every meal have that in them. All they could offer me for my Macro Bowl was olive oil and lemon... There was not even a handful of rice in it too. It was basically an expensive salad. The gluten-free bread was absolutely bland and certainly not worth $4. The service was fine, nothing to write home about. Not our cup of tea. read more

We had brunch and ordered a large portion of the menu amongst the table. The bacon was a standout, some say the best they have had a in a very long time. The ricotta, brioche and jam is delicious--all house made and it shows. The bean burrito was very yummy, as well as the veg-burger which was a mushroom mix vs the standard bean. They have an extensive wine offering, with organic and natural options. Cocktails too! The staff was incredible friendly.
