Not a fan. The sauces were extremely hot and not labeled as such. This is a no-frills establishment. Sodas are by-the-can. Water may be available upon request. We were asked by the waitress if we wanted the onions and peppers "on the side". This is an upsell, not something included in the price. Ok, I must have missed something with this plate. I tried the Asada and the chicken, and they were ok, but they weren't so mind blowing that I felt like I ever had to go back. The meat on the Asada was super dry. The chicken at least had some onions and flavoring in it, that one was ok. The guava soda I drank with the meal was the highlight of it for me! I did like the toppings bar but there were no labels on everything so I really had no idea what I was putting on my tacos. That would have maybe helped me know what I was creating! This is my first time eating at this tacos place in Goleta. Ordered 3 asada tacos and one el pastor taco (it has a different name), the price was reasonable. Their salad bar was clean and got the good salsas. The staff was very nice and the service was fast considering the line of customers that stretched to the outside of the restaurant. Just good cheap tacos and NOTHING else. No rice, no beans, just tacos, lots and lots of tacos. 3 on an average day, 4 if I'm hungry. I get the "standard" ones like beef and chicken . They have the "exotic" ones like tongue and cheek which I get when I am feeling adventurous, and also the super exotic ones like eye and tripe, which I am too chicken to try. There's always a line during lunch time but it goes by fast. The tacos are made super quick and everything seems well managed and organized. The topping bar is what made it for me. I enjoy slapping on the amount of onions and cilantro that I want. The sauces are good as well. I always get the carne asada or pork, both are great. They are street taco sized so don't expect too much. It's a 3 bite gone type of taco. Decor is nice and there are plenty of seatings. I am so sad that this place opened after I graduated from UCSB! I use to go to their downtown location when I want authentic Mexican food (sorry Freebirds). Can't go wrong with carne asada or the marinated pork. If you want to try something different, try the tongue! Love that they have a bar for the toppings. Third, the tacos de lengua are a mist try! Moist and soft, they go great with either salsa (red or green)! This is a must stop at Santa Barbara for me. The tacos are delicious and up there with San Diego in terms of quality. Both the tortillas and the meat come out hot and fresh. Some places have their tortillas lacking in quality, but that isn't an issue here. Carne asada is a good indicator of a good taco joint and theirs was delicious. However, their adobada was the surprise favorite for me and probably what I would've liked more of. $1.90 a taco is a little up there in price, but you get what you pay for in quality and quantity. They do not skimp on the meat here and feel free to pile on the salsa, onions, and cilantro at their salsa bar. read more

The grilled meat options are solid, especially their tripe tacos (served only on Friday-Sunday) which they pan fry to give it that extra crispiness. I'm not big on Mexican food, but these tacos are bomb. I had never ordered a veggie taco before. I ordered the veggie taco and was so impressed by how they cooked the veggies al dente so it wasn't taco with mush. The meat options are very good also. I enjoyed the al pastor, and I usually do chicken because al pastor tends to be dry. All the meat options are seasoned well and not dry. My husband loves the lengua. I don't know if they do hard shell tacos, but I will ask next time I am in. The place is pretty bare. Lots of room and places to sit. There is a salsa bar in the middle of the dining room.
