Never in my life as a nj resident have I ever been serve brown sauce and not gravy for their egg foo young... I called and the young women claimed all of her customers know that. The lady at the front was very kind and patient. The place is clean. It looks like your typical Chinese food place. I got the lunch specials. General Tsos chicken and chicken with garlic sauce extra spicy. The General those was not spicy and missing brocoli. The chicken with garlic sauce was spicy and cooked well. (I was spoiled with great options in all directions leading home when I was in Elmwood Park/Saddle Brook/Garfield) I was 1 try from commuting back North to my old faithfuls. This happens to be the best Chinese food in town, but that doesn't make it the best Chinese food ever. For one, the meat that comes with the chicken and broccoli is incredibly fatty. The lo-mein is REALLY tasty but just a little too greasy. Also, for some odd reason their rice gave me stomach inflammation and nausea and I am not allergic to rice- so that was kind of weird. A+ on the Wonton soup & options for vegetarians, they really have a good selection on their menu, which coincidentally makes an excellent paper airplane. Besides the rice, the only negative thing I have to say is, with delivery, someone the price always ends up being a lot more than what I would pay for Chinese food. Overall, it's a Chinese food place. It's okay, edible, but nothing special. I only order once in a while and stick to take out if you don't feel like dishing out $27 plus tip to feed two people. read more

I've ordered delivery from Lily House a few times now and the food has always been good. They are very quick with delivery. The General Tsao chicken is just the right amount of spicy and an order easily feeds two, the portions are huge! The pork rolls and shrimp rolls were delicious, not soggy and oily like some other places I have ordered from. I wasn't a fan of the fried dumplings, but my husband loved them! Ordered for the first time two days ago, and you know what - it wasn't as great as I was expecting because I thought that it was going to be amazing thanks to other Yelp reviewers but after ordering Sesame Chicken and Boneless Spare Ribs - I thought that the Boneless Spare ribs were *AMAZING* however.... -Sesame chicken was just 3/6 only OK it also arrived not very hot and both were Large container orders, the ribs were still however piping hot which was fantastic. -Also ordered was the Moo Goo Gai Pan - just OK as well 3/6 - too garlicky and leaving an aftertaste way after the fact. The General Tso's chicken was only OK as well - not enough spice for my taste! Chicken with Broccoli 3/6 not the best either. -Vegetable Dumplings arrived semi-warm and were 3/5 (steamed). ***Overall I would definitely re order the boneless spare ribs again**** However, everything else gave several parties awful digestion afterwards......Maybe the sauces are too thick and heavy for certain people who aren't used to Chinese food. Also they say it's Free Delivery however, on the receipt I found a $1 delivery charge and we tipped for delivery so those are extra costs on top of it all. I very much do not do this is, I'm a nice friendly person and I wish I did not have to do this! But it is my moral responsibility to write this review! Last year I wrote a review under my wife's yelp, a beautiful review about lily house. Since then I've had lily house I wanna say 3 times and this is the last draw!!! I do not appreciate the fact that I had to throw away money because of this establishment. Granted I ordered a combination platter which was only 8 bucks for one meal, which isn't too bad. I ordered sweet and sour chicken with veggie fried rice subbed the red sauce for general Tao sauce which is amazing when do with a little passion at the very least! The chicken in the batter tasted horrible, if in fact it was even actual chicken!! The rice was displeasing and the egg roll was the only thing I finished! I truly feel bad throwing it out knowing that there is people starving out there but I personally couldn't even eat 1/4 of the platter!!
