They always say yes so that's a plus, right? I haven't had my nails done in over a year and recently getting out of a relationship, I needed my "bad b!tch" nails back so I decided to go here cause my sister loves it. When I get there, I had a short wait which was fine but she rushed my entire process. The technician (she sits behind the front counter and usually answers the phone) butchered my cuticles. I would literally wince in pains and my fingers hurt during the whole appointment but I kept thinking "trust the process". I shouldn't have. My thumb nails aren't the same length and many of my nails are crooked. My fingers look like they are screaming in pain - because they are! I have sores that are healing that were caused from her rushing. The polish doesn't go down the acrylic all the way on most of my nails. Almost $60 for embarrassing nails. Will be looking elsewhere in the future!! read more

Total came to $143.10. Only thing I'd change is, I wish I'd kept the same technician that did my pedicure for my manicure. I just moved to Iowa and have been looking for a nail salon comparable to what I had back home-- unfortunately this one was not it. My fiancé and I called two hours in advance for an appointment and we arrived before our scheduled time. We waited around 15 minutes to be seated in the pedicure chairs, which was fine-- they were busy. After being seated we waited with our feet in the water for over 30 minutes before either of us got a technician, totaling now 45 minutes of waiting. We chose the $40 sea salt pedicure and I will tell you now, nothing about this pedicure was worth $40. The technician DID NOT EVEN FILE MY TOE NAILS. When I arrived home the edges of my nails were rough and jagged. She barely trimmed my cuticles and there was no proper scraping of dead skin off my heels. The technician asked if I wanted shellac, I asked how much and she stated $55, I politely said no and that I just wanted regular polish. She proceeded to ask me four more times if I was sure I didn't want shellac, and I said no every time. She selfishly said "It's easier because it dry's faster". She proceeds to wrap my legs with the hot towels and paint my toes. After she's done, she points to the lady massaging my fiancé's legs and says "I'm done, she will do your massage". Wait- you just painted my toes...how am I getting a massage after I have wet toes? Well, I did get a massage...for about 5 minutes on just my upper leg. The entire pedicure lasted about 15 minutes, my toes were not trimmed, they rushed everything, I did not get the proper treatment I saw other women getting that were there...and it was 38724462 degrees inside. I have been going there now for two years on and off and I have never been let down. The owner always has to do my nails because I keep my nails extra long so it takes a little bit more critiquing. I guess you could say to make sure they don't break and she never lets me down my nails always look amazing. I tried a couple other places and I just keep finding myself driving the 20 minutes back up there. I have been to Lily Nails three times and I have been happy with the results each time. This weekend I went to try powder dip for the first time and the result was exactly what I was looking for. I would highly recommend working with Pawn (I hope I spelled her name right!) she took the time to explain each step to me since I hadn't had dip nails before. there was 3 of us and they fit us in, however we showed them a picture of what 2 of us wanted and the other just a manicure. I also asked for my eyebrows waxed. Well let's just say our nails looked nothing like the picture nor even looked a like. the lady asked my daughter if she wanted a heart painted on two nails and my didn't know they will charge extra for it, the lady never explained that. That is so wrong, after I got my nails done she rushed me to pay as people were coming in for service. I paid and paid for the eyebrow wax which I never even got! I have been to Lily Nails many times in the past 15 years and have almost always been happy with my service. I always trim and shape my nails ahead of time because I like my nails very short since I type all day every day and I'm pretty particular about shaping. I went recently for a pedicure and dipped nail manicure and trimmed and filed my nails like I always do. The pedicure (not done by Amanda) was wonderful. However, the owner/manager, Amanda, did my manicure service. Immediately upon sitting down, she seemed like she was in a bad mood and told me I shouldn't have trimmed my own nails and that they were too short and would take much more of her time. I explained that I always trim/file ahead of time because her technicians never want to trim and/or shape them like I want and that none of them had ever told me it was a problem. She continued to scold me saying I should let them do it (ignoring the concern I just stated) and that it would take her more time. I said I was sorry and that none of the other technicians IN 15 YEARS, had ever mentioned that to me before. She was short and rude the entire rest of the time I was there. In the end, it did not take her ANY MORE TIME THAN USUAL, but because of her rudeness and failure to care more about what the customer wanted than what was easy for her, I won't be returning. read more

Also me and my friend picked out a color to use but then she grabbed it and it wasn't even the same color that we picked out so we had to pick a different color. I have gone to Lily Nails for nearly 3 years now. The service has been hit and miss and it really depends on which stylist you are assigned. Most are not friendly. Amanda is the owner and does excellent work, especially pink and whites, when you can actually get her. That said, the past two times I have been in I was given an older lady at station 8 for my shellacs. Both times they started chipping in less than a week. I have never had this happen before. I showed them to Amanda when I went back in to get a new shellac. I thought she would give me some sort of discount since I literally had two shellacs in less than 16 days. Awful. 100 dollars for 2 sets of acrylic nails. The nails were crooked and hurt very bad. From getting acrylics at other places, they have never hurt. Very dirty - they do not use new/clean towels for each client, do not clean files or clippers... They cut my nails down way too much and said "Oh you have thin nail..." No - you weren't paying attention. My nails have blunt corners so they'll break even though I asked for rounded... Only put 2 coats not 3 so not solid coverage of color and it's lumpy/uneven. Extremely difficult to understand them (except when they're trying to upsell services). Nail color doesn't even go all they way to cuticle on 3 nails so they're going to look like crap in a week and need to be redone. I have nothing but good things to say about this nail salon. I travel a ton for work and I try my best to wait until I'm in Iowa to get my nails done here. Amanda is the owner of the salon and she always does an impeccable job on my finger nails and pedicure. For anyone reading this review I get pink and white on my fingernails and Amanda does such a great job where it lasts me longer than anyone else has ever done it. She's takes her time to make sure it's perfect but it's incredible how fast and efficient she is doing it. As everyone knows... It's more about the person doing them and not to judge the entire salon. That said, I cannot speak of how any other nail technicians work is. They seem to do a good job on others. I went to Lily Nails 6 days ago and my shellac polish started chipping after 3 DAYS!!!! I had a very unfriendly middle aged woman do my manicure and polish. She acted bored, unhappy, and did not say one kind or friendly word to me the entire 45 minutes I was there. I will return to L.V. Nails in Des Moines as their shellac polish lasts for over 3 weeks. I will not return and I advise others to steer clear of this place. How they stay in business, I cannot imagine. read more

My first and last visit here. The 'technician' was very rough and made my cuticle bleed. Also was pounded on my back to point that I had to hold the counter to steady myself. The worst was when she failed to apply a base coat under my shellac polish. I asked why she went straight to the polish without the base coat and she said I didn't need it. I asked her again for a base coat and she said it was a new polish and had the base in it. Turns out she was lying. It took an extra 15 minutes to get the polish removed at my last polish appointment at a different nail salon and my nails were stained. I also noted that their equipment was not sterilized.
