We have just changed our wedding plans totally, which leaves the fabulous Genevieve available for lucky YOU! Let me start by saying that we are NOT your typical engaged couple...as I am marrying for the first time in my late 50s and my husband is in his 60s. I am not anything like a "princess" -- but being married in a traditional Catholic ceremony and having a nice reception with dancing was what I'd always envisioned. We wanted a traditional wedding, and a nice but more relaxed, less formal, lively/dancey and fun reception. The Golden Gate Yacht Club was the perfect venue for that! We reserved the church and the Golden Gate Yacht Club and found our DJ. Then we found a wedding planner we really liked -- but our wedding date turned out that it was also HER wedding date, too! We met with another wedding planner who got top marks here on Yelp but -- when we met with her, we were pretty taken aback. She talked nonstop, and for the first 20 minutes, all her conversation was about herself and her dog. I left feeling like I'd been bludgeoned. Couldn't imagine how she could be in this business, which is all about listening andrelationships and reassuring people down when they are in the midst of wedding stress! So we called our first wedding planner and begged her for help. She said that if she wasn't hiring herself, she'd hire Genevieve, loved her, had total confidence in her. We met with Genevieve and she was warm, yet professional. Felt she could take charge and get things done efficiently, but be pleasant to work with. She is clearly highly experienced, We just needed a little time to figure out how much help we needed, etc. (We contacted her about 5 months before our Catholic nuptial Mass and reception at the Golden Gate Yacht Club...) I'll skip all the in-between but...this week, 2 months before our wedding, with Genevieve still wondering what amount of help we'd like to engage her for, my fiancee and I sat down and looked at each other and said "tWe know it's stressful and a lot of work -- but nothing about this feels fun or right.". It was like we'd set our feet on a path that had turned into wet cement. I think the problem was that we wanted a wedding for people who are 25 or 35 or even 40...but it just wasn't a good "fit." Now, 5 days after our conversation, planning to get married in a civil ceremony in City Hall (so we don't have to deal with the Italian civil government and its hassles), then have our nuptial Mass in a small village in Umbria, Italy where his sister lives...and where we were always going to go for our honeymoon. And we feel so much happier! We truly dreaded calling Genevieve to tell her, because she'd met with us for an hour, and then redone her estimate 3x and met with us for an hour (that's a LOT of time and work -- it takes a lot of time to retype an estimate..!) Genevieve was EXTREMELY gracious and kind -- and I'm not sure I would have been. Which just goes to show that she is probably the person you want if you're going to have to deal with prickly in-laws and so forth on your wedding day! We told her the least we could do was leave a note here on Yelp! about how much we liked her and that we would recommend her (she did NOT suggest it or ask us to do it). For their reasonable price (for city weddings), you definitely want to go with Lily Spruce! We had our wedding on July 4th this year and we knew it was going to be crazy. With 2 locations for the wedding (church for ceremony, and boat for reception), it was going to be a scary task to deal with the holiday's busy-ness - unbelievable traffic from the fireworks event, America's Cup opening ceremonies, and to top it off, the last minute BART strike. We had a great time working with Genevieve and the rest of the team at Lily Spruce. We hired Genevieve as a month-of coordinator to help with our wedding of about 250 people. We had a handful of meetings and phone calls with her about a year before the wedding, and then worked with her much more the month before the wedding. She took care of coordinating all the vendors (wedding officiant, caterers, musicians, etc.) and made sure they all got there on time and that everyone got the right instructions. We worked with Genevieve and another member of her team named Koryn. Before the wedding, Genevieve was always very responsive via email to any questions that we had. The only thing she needed from us was info on all the vendors we were hiring. Genevieve and Koryn did a fantastic job on the day of the wedding. Once they were on site, they quickly took stock of what everyone was already working on and seamlessly stepped in to start directing other parts of the event. The ceremony site was all ready with plenty of time to spare, and when our guests arrived they were always able to easily find Genevieve or Koryn if they had any questions. Genevieve and Koryn gave everybody their cues and made sure the whole ceremony went off without a hitch. Once the ceremony ended, they did a great job corralling all the guests and getting everybody to the reception. During the reception itself, they were very responsive to any issues that came up, and we especially appreciated them staying late afterwards to coordinate the cleanup effort; we were in no state to do it ourselves! If you are getting married you need Lily Spruce...trust me! Genevieve is so creative and her insight and perspective during my planning process was invaluable. After getting engaged I was so excited to start planning my dream wedding but my thoughts and ideas were all over the place. Genevieve was fantastic at focusing my creative energy and helping me come up with the perfect design concept for me and my groom. Think Old Hollywood Glam, 1940's art deco era, peacock feathers, candles, crystals, jewel toned hues with a bit of SF charm...and still incorporate a little of my Filipino culture. She is genius. She made sure the makeup artist was running on schedule and always had a bridesmaid on deck waiting, helped family members put on corsages and boutonnieres and even put together a little breakfast plate for me and made sure I ate before the ceremony. She has the experience to also anticipate what might go wrong - she carries around this amazing emergency bag that has anything you could possibly need for any situation. When I chipped my perfect French pedicure she was right there with white nail polish touching it up. When my side-bun was falling out after the ceremony she was right there tucking the pieces back up with bobby pins and hair spray. When my flower girl was crying because of blisters from her new shoes Genevieve was right there spraying her little feet with anti-friction spray and fixing her up with band aids. I could go on and on...bottom line is Lily Spruce rocks and Genevieve is an experienced, talented, extremely professional and super fun wedding planner to work with. We hired Genevieve and Lily Spruce as our day-of coordinator for our wedding at Shakespeare Garden this past October. We originally thought we just needed someone to help set up some chairs and a refreshment table, little did we know how priceless Genevieve's help was on so many different levels! She was very professional, she thought of the little details that my now husband and I didn't even think about. Genevieve from Lily Spruce was a godsend at my wedding. David and we married on August 29th in Carmel. If I could I would give Genevieve more than 5 stars in this review. I was the bride set on planning my own wedding and keeping things on a tight budget. Admittedly, I was a little hesitant to hire a wedding planner since we were trying to keep the costs down, but I am SOOO thankful that I came to my senses and hired Genevieve. I realized that I needed someone to help the weekend of the wedding - someone to fully take the reins on the big day - and Genevieve was amazing! Genevieve was great in the planning stages as well. She helping me set the reception timing, source materials, contact vendors, and simply identifying things that I had not even considered. We planned a series of events over a long weekend. I'm a very organized person and had spreadsheets and lists and outlines..... hoping that every base was covered. As happens at ever wedding, there were a ton of last minute and 'day-of' things that came up. Genevieve was amazing at dealing with everything (most of them before I even realized they were an issue). I have nothing but five stars for our day of wedding coordinator Genevieve. We had an outdoor farm wedding with lots of homemade elements (some of which were not finished until right before the wedding!) and Genevieve was the glue that held the event together. She understood the vision of the wedding that my husband and I were hoping for even when I couldn't put our ideas into words. I loved every detail of our wedding and Genevieve was the one who put all those details into place. Having her there with her time line was invaluable on our wedding day. Perhaps most importantly, Genevieve was unflappable. I had the pleasure to work with Lily Spruce as a wedding vendor (DJ/MC) hired by the same Bride and Groom. My experience working with Lily Spruce was exceptional. I was impressed with their attention to every detail and great level of organization and communication. The initial coordinator/planner Genevieve, I met before the wedding went on maternity leave and was replaced by Nuahn another planner on their team. This didn't affect the service at all and nothing fell through the cracks so to speak. I've never written a review before, so this is my first! And i just couldn't help but have to write this and to share it with everyone, I felt sooo sooo lucky to be able to find and work with Genevieve and her team at Lily Spruce! My husband and i had our beautiful wedding in June 2016, it was such a journey building up to the point of the wedding that my husband and i couldn't imagine how we would ever pull it off without Genevieve's (we call her G : )) help! Just a little background story to demonstrate the challenges G had to face with her client (us). My husband and i live in San Francisco, but all my families are back in China, and all his families are back in Indiana, that was the first challenge. Then with the complication of my parent's travel time frame, we had only 4 month to plan till the wedding day. Third, my husband and I both want the wedding to be intimate, comfortable, hearty, all the love and special little moments we want to share with each other and our friends and family, but coming from a traditional Chinese culture, my father expected it to be formal, elegant, and grand, which almost sounds contradicting to what we want... Fourth, my husband and i are both very very picky (both architect), at times unbearably anxious and impatient... Fifth, we chose the tower of the De Young museum of SF to be our venue. Because it's a museum, the security is incredibly strict, and we had only from 6 to 11pm to have both the ceremony and reception; Oh, and we have a tight budget! So there you go, in retrospect, we were asking G to plan an almost impossible wedding, and it had to be perfect! And it was! An incredible experience and perfect wedding! It's so hard to not to fall in love with her. I still remember the first time we met in her cute office, we chat for an hour just about who we are and who she is. As we walk out, i said to my husband with great excitement :" she is the one! She is the one! I want her to plan our crazy wedding!" With all the challenges, G took us by our hands and walked us through every step of the way with such grace and patience. From planning the big picture and narrowing down our theme, to hunting down the best vender options, and scheduling timeline and event dates - at times she was even our personally therapist! She is always on it! Her ability to zoom in and out of scale to make sure all aspect of the event is being taken care of is really impressive. My husband and i tend to loose our focus, so she kept our attention on what's the most important. On the beautiful wedding day, with the perfect cadence and rhythm, the event flowed through so smoothly. I could seriously cry when I write about how amazing Genevieve was in helping us plan our wedding. She is worth every penny we spent on her services, and more. I'm not exaggerating when I tell you that my husband and I literally had the wedding planning process from hell as a result of our super sketchy wedding venue. I honestly don't know what we would have done if we didn't have Genevieve there to help us through it. Where to begin... First, we booked at a venue that had an exclusive wedding planner, who, we discovered had been in the business for WAY too many years, was hardened, uninspired and knew how to take advantage of brides and grooms...basically the opposite of what we wanted. We decided to buy out her services rather than work with her. When we found Genevieve it was such a breath of fresh air because she felt like an enthusiastic and caring friend, but with the professionalism, knowledge and skill of a talented wedding planner. We opted for her full wedding planning package, which is totally reasonably priced. She met with us throughout the year leading up the wedding. We worked on a designated amount of responsibilities and she covered the rest. It was a good deal and allowed both of us to really have ownership over the whole event. We also opted for her creative services. She has a huge inventory of cute decor to choose from, and has great ideas and resources for other decor pieces and rentals. So here's the big catastrophe that happened before our wedding. The venue at which we had been planning our destination wedding weekend (3 days of events) called us 3 WEEKS before our wedding to tell us that we could no longer have our wedding there because of "septic issues"! Okay, no one died, but I'm pretty sure that might be pretty high up there on the list of awful things to happen right before your wedding. The venue didn't even have the audacity to call us directly...they called Genevieve first so she had to break the news to us. What did she do? She came over immediately and spent the evening with us, helping us in a phone meeting with the CEO of our venue, and researching alternatives. She also spent the next day with us, helping us to come up with another plan. In the end, we decided on another venue (an even better one), but it involved moving our entire set-up to another location...not an easy task, but Genevieve was on it. In the end, our wedding was literally magical and perfect, thanks in large part to Genevieve's hard work, professionalism, skill and incredible attitude. Genevieve redefines the idea of your traditional wedding planner, and that's a very good thing. I hate to tell you, but the wedding planning process is not always fun. You DO need help.
