Normally when I get a deep tissue massage it is extremely painful to get everything out, not this time. I also added on the peppermint scalp massage and was I heaven! My husband got the Swedish massage and said it was great. We grabbed a brochure on the way out for a possible staycation in the future! There are small lockers and robes available but we waited in the lobby and where walked to Our room for the massage where there was lots of space for our clothes and items. Water and teas are available in the lobby and they do have a sauna but we didn't use it. I look forward to trying it next time!

WARNING TO FUTURE GUESTS: New Management Did Not Honor the Spa Package We Were Sold…read more Extremely Disappointing and Humiliating Experience I rarely leave reviews like this, but our experience with Elements Spa and the lodge where it is located was so upsetting that I feel future guests should know what happened, particularly if you are purchasing a spa package that advertises access to the lodge's private beach. I booked what was advertised as a 90-minute deep-tissue couples massage with access to the lodge's private beach. Because I was traveling with my family, I specifically asked the spa front desk beforehand whether my family could join me at the beach. I was told yes. Had I been told otherwise, we simply would have made different plans. Unfortunately, my massage with "Eddy" was one of the worst spa treatments I have ever received, and I have had many professional massages and spa treatments over the years. We were brought back approximately six minutes after our appointment time. During a significant portion of my treatment, the therapist simply rested his hands on my back while taking deep breaths. The remainder consisted primarily of extremely slow, light rubbing of lotion into my skin. There was virtually nothing I would describe as deep-tissue massage. It genuinely felt as though the goal was to let the 90 minutes pass rather than provide the treatment I had paid for. I questioned if he was even a professional masseuse after the treatment, because it was the most bizarre massage I've ever received. To be fair, my spa partner had a much better experience with Danielle. He described her as "very strong" and said his massage was something he would return for. The facility itself was also disappointing. The spa felt dated and run-down, with old carpeting and dingy, tiny bathrooms, and my massage was performed in what appeared to be an old hotel room. It was nothing like the relaxing or upscale spa experience I expected based on how the package was presented online. But the treatment we received afterward is the reason I am warning other guests. When my family joined me at the beach, as we had specifically been told they could, we were suddenly informed that the new lodge management would not honor what the spa/front desk had told us. Instead of recognizing that there was clearly a communication problem between the spa, front desk, and lodge management, the situation became hostile towards us, the paying customers. The new lodge management appeared to be a Middle Easterners, and specifically told us that they weren't affiliated with the Spa in any way shape or form and did not care what they sold us. We were ultimately escorted off the property while being accused of having "lied." This happened in front of my family and other guests and was incredibly embarrassing and humiliating. There were only four other people on the private beach besides our party of six. We had just spent nearly $500 on spa services and had specifically asked permission before ever bringing our family onto the beach. What makes this even more frustrating is that I personally approached the front desk and even offered to purchase a day pass so there would be absolutely no misunderstanding. I was assured that my family and I could enjoy the beach. I actually tipped the front desk employee because I appreciated what I believed was her helpful customer service. Yet when the new owner became involved, that assurance disappeared, and somehow we became the "liars." If the spa or front desk gave us incorrect information, that was an internal communication issue. Paying guests should not be publicly accused of dishonesty because management and the spa are not on the same page. I was willing to overlook an underwhelming massage. I was willing to overlook an outdated facility. I even tipped well because I don't like making someone feel badly about their work. What I cannot overlook is being told one thing before spending nearly $500, relying on that information, and then being humiliated and treated as though we had done something dishonest. This was supposed to be a relaxing first day of our family vacation in Lake Tahoe. Instead, it became one of the most uncomfortable and humiliating hospitality experiences I have ever had. My warning to future guests: If you are booking Elements Spa because the package includes lodge or private-beach access, get the exact terms in writing before you pay. Based on our experience, what the spa/front desk tells you may not be honored by the new lodge management. I will not return, and after the hostile and unprofessional way our family was treated, I cannot recommend Elements Spa or the lodge where it is located to anyone.

I've seen cedar baths before on Instagram, and I had to try it out for myself when we visited Tahoe. He did an amazing job explaining to us the health benefits of the cedar, helping us get situated, and pouring us a cup of Super Ohtaka (a Japanese beverage consisting of 50 fermented vegetables) at the end of the session. The cedar bath itself was comfortable, each session is 25 minutes. I wasn't anticipating getting so messy! It was very fun getting buried in the cedar- the way Tim explained it was like getting covered in a warm weighted blanket. It's a similar experience to a sauna, I was surprised when he told us that there was no heating in the tub and that the cedar enzymes were keeping the cedar warm! I definitely felt my circulation improving. If you end up overheating, you can create air bubbles with your toes and hands or just stick your arm out to help regulate your internal temperature- which is what I ended up doing. We got out of the tub, brushed off, hopped in the shower, and felt rejuvenated. What a fun novelty experience!

Kirsten was awesome and explained the science behind the cedar and warming mechanism -- quite fascinating! I have some pain in my right elbow as well as lymphedema in right arm. After the session my arm felt 10000% better. It was unbelievable. I had no concerns about cleanliness. Everything was great and after the session you brush off the cedar and then shower. Speaking of which, though we did stay Sunday to Tuesday, if there were 3 other people on the private beach along with us, it was a lot...really private. The condo itself was decent, though a bit dated as is typical for Tahoe. That said, very comfortable, fully equipped kitchen. Unlike the lodge, the condos are individually owned so each one will be furnished differently. None of the units have A/C, but numerous fans are provided for warmer months. Out stay the temps outside were perfect so no need. Our unit also had a wood burning fireplace for those looking to come up in the winter, they even have ski lockers. The pool and hot tub were clean...pool a little chilly, the tub perfectly heated. There is also a fire pit, cornhole and a volleyball net for those so inclined. Beach chairs and towels are also provided, a nice touch. As with everything, a little pricey but you are right on the lake and, oh yeah, a really private beach. Plenty of free parking and a short stroll down the beach or on the street to restaurants (right behind Heidi's...the best breakfast on the lake!!), water craft rentals and close to groceries. All in all, a great 3 day staycation to celebrate our honeymoon (they surprised us with wine). Again, thank you Jose and the team for making it even better!

The recent update has not disappointed! The hot tub was lovely! Perfect temp, no super chlorine…read moresmell, nice ambiance. The dry sauna after a massage was also amazing. I skipped the cold plunge but another person seemed to enjoy it. Great customer service at check in. But the best part: the use of the locker room, shower, AND facilities after a massage was great. Plush robes (PLUS SIZED!), surprisingly comfy shower slippers, and a bag for your items were all provided. We recently visited and had just a couple hiccups but still 5 stars and it was mostly my husband's experience. He wasn't given anything to drink (water, tea, anything) after his massage which is usually offered. It was kinda strange especially since I was handed a glass of water after being asked if I wanted plain or lemon at the end of my massage. While I had a robe, shower shoes, etc provided in my bag, he only had the robe. He didn't think to bring flip flops because he thought those were provided and he ended up having to walk around the locker room and hot tub room barefoot. Not a deal breaker, obviously, but he was kinda bummed. Just a note about the ladies locker room layout and the lockers. The door opens right into the locker space where one would typically change clothes. So, when the door opens, anyone outside the door could see in. The layout of the hallway keeps the opposite gender from being near the ladies entrance and vice versa and also creates a low foot traffic pattern which seems intentional. However most locker areas I have used have a turn or a wall that blocks the changing area from view of the entrance. There is a bathroom and two showers to change in, however if the facilities are ever really busy this could get a bit crowded. Also, the lockers may have a way to be locked but I wasn't told how to do that. Overall these hiccups didn't take away from the 5 star experience. I'll definitely continue to recommend.

Please don't book a spa experience here!…read more I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was incredibly disappointing. I'll start with the positives: Alex and Pamela were fantastic. Their massages were excellent, and they were the only reason this review is getting 2 stars instead of 1. The gentleman who greeted us in the hotel lobby was also very kind. Unfortunately, everything else fell far below expectations. My husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and originally hoped to book at Edgewood, but their spa was closed for renovations. We asked for a comparable experience and were referred here. At $170pp, we expected something relaxing and upscale. Our appointments were at 1:00pm, and the spa called the day before to let us know we could arrive early to enjoy the amenities. We arrived at 11:00am and were immediately met with an unfriendly attitude from the front desk. Instead of welcoming us, she seemed irritated that we had arrived early, even though the spa had invited us to do so. The "locker room" was another disappointment: 4 lockers inside what was essentially a bathroom. For a couples spa day, having to change and use the restroom in the same cramped space was awkward and far from the experience we expected. When we grabbed towels from the locker room to head to the pool, we were abruptly told we couldn't use them and had to go to the hotel front desk for separate pool towels and a pool key, while wearing spa robes. The pool area itself was also disappointing. The hot tub had dead flies and wasps floating in it, and the overall setting felt more like a hotel entry area than a peaceful spa retreat. We were told to return 10 min before our treatment, so we came back early. We were then informed our "steam room" was ready. In reality, it was a tiny steam shower with enough room for 1 person to sit...not exactly the couples amenity we had imagined. To top it off, the final price was higher than quoted. We booked at $170 per person but were charged $185 per person, plus a 20% gratuity. We were happy to tip our massage therapists, they earned it, but no one explained the additional charge. For $444 total, this experience felt extremely overpriced and underwhelming. If you're looking for a true spa day, I would strongly recommend booking elsewhere.

Before my friend was going to receive the facial, she was pressured multiple times by the esthetician that she could upgrade to the Pumpkin Peel Facial for an extra $80, to which she agreed to. All of this should have resulted in a $400 dollar charge and a 10% tip for a $440 charge. Somehow Serenity Spa ended up charging her $564.  After explaining the overcharges, the front desk receptionist assured me there were no overcharges. Then after looking further, after intense prompting, she admitted there was a $60 overcharge - she couldn't explain how she came to this number, which was still wrong. After insisting this was the only overcharge, the receptionist refused to address the remaining $60 overcharge and hung up the phone after accusing us of lying, which was incredibly unprofessional and irritating as my friend is an incredibly accomplished and pure hearted person. I'm not at all surprised at the litany of negative reviews about Serenity Spa and I would encourage everyone to steer clear of this place and their questionable, at best, transparency and billing practices.
