Yes, Deep Tissue Massage can hurt, initially; if you can withstand a few minutes of that minor "pain" you will find that the pain that brought you there has been alleviated. If the "pain" of her skilled treatments are beyond your tolerance - GO SOMEWHERE ELSE This is not for everyone, until you realize the benefit she provides, So Please do not disparage her knowledge and skill with a comment based on ignorance. One 30 minute session changed the chronic aching in BOTH legs and BOTH shoulders to the point where i stopped blaming my joints for the searing spasms and missteps into the realization that the major nerves affected EVERYTHING i was feeling. The first (approximately) 10 minutes were spent on my feet; not gonna say it didn't hurt, it was like standing on a stone directly under your heels. The good news? THAT discomfort simply left my body, and it vanished quickly. She knew it before i did. I had this stagnant stiff pain on my neck and shoulders for some time due to bad posture while working and was debating on making the apt for a few weeks until one day I had enough. I finally found time in the schedule to book a chiro appt about a month ago. I got the adjustment but was told it was muscular pain causing my issues. So, of course I put it off another month Enter Lily. I booked an appointment (by text- how super easy is that?!) I rarely write reviews but she deserves a 5 star. I've been wanting to get a massage and looked for one near me. I messaged her to ask for availability for the day and she asked if tonight works. I locked down the time and saw her. Very easy to communicate and schedule. When I got there, she asked me what my issue is and I let her know my lower and upper back are the spots that I want targeted. I didn't have to tell her how hard I need it, she just knows. She took care of the areas I needed attention. She asks if everything feels good to see if you need it harder or softer. But to me, the way she did it was perfect. Lily gave me the best massage of my life. But damn was it painful. That's the difference you get going to a licensed and knowledgeable massage therapist, versus cheaper parlors. Lily went in very deep and was able to identify issues I've been dealing with on the left side of my body without me even telling her. She knows her sh*t. She asked me what I do for work and once she realized I worked construction, she got into the nitty gritty about the areas of concern that are specific to me (which are my shoulders and lower back). And she took care of business and spent adequate time and attention to those areas. If you don't like deep tissue you aren't gonna like this, Lily definitely tested my pain threshold, however she definitely left me feeling relieved afterwards. This is the second massage I've had from Lily and both times I am left feeling completely relaxed and soothed, jello-like. I have seen maybe 25 or so massage therapists and can highly recommend Lily as one of the very best. She truly knows how to identify all the trouble areas intuitively and uses so many techniques and pressures needed. My two visits were completely customized to my body needs to get all the knots and tension out where she focused longer on areas that needed it more not just a standard preset routine type of massage. Thai massage was new to me but the pressure and style is so relaxing and really alleviates pain and tension on a next level, nothing compares. It can be at times uncomfortable as with some other deep tissue techniques when working deeply on the knots and tense areas, but not in a bad way. You know the muscles are getting stretched and can feel the knots coming undone and all the pain in back and body will be gone. She checks in often about the pressure and explains as she does certain techniques. And Lilly is just a funny and sweet person to be with as well. The massage room is just a little spot in the back of a salon, so if you're looking for a spa type ambiance, this isn't it.
