I visited here with a large group of classmates. It was an easy walk from the British Museum. My first time trying Peruvian food! We had a nice evening. They were able to accommodate us all at a comfortable table outside. We enjoyed watching the street traffic and feeling the vibe of the city. Our large group shared an insane amount of small plates and I liked everything I tasted. It's fairly pricy, but I guess prices have to be high to survive in London. Also tried my first pisco sour here and quite enjoyed it! I'm grateful for this unique (to me) experience; I haven't had much luck finding Peruvian food in the southeastern US. read more

This is a second branch of the main "Lima" restaurant in Fitzrovia. This one is a bit smaller and more intimate, tucked along a lovely cobblestone street in Covent Garden. We came for a weekday lunch and ordered the three-course meal, which was delicious. The ceviche was flavorful, and the beef was very tender and juicy. You can't go wrong with the alfajores for desert. Portion sizes aren't huge, but it's enough to be satisfied without being stuffed. We didn't get any pisco sours here, but they were fantastic at the Fitzrovia location, so I imagine they'd be just as good here. Overall a fun place to come for fine Peruvian cuisine! read more

A new experience for me - a Peruvian restaurant. It's a sort of a kind of a tapas place with numerous dishes served as they come. The friendly server recommended 3 each. We decided to just have two and see how we got on, in part because the price of each dish was pretty tasty and we figured we'd have too much to eat with three purely based on price. Wrong. Nevertheless, the food was pretty ok, not spectacular nor memorable nor even significantly unique to be classified as 'Peruvian' as it consisted of items like king prawns, tuna ceviche and lamb rump which we would have had countless times before in other places. A bottle of Pinot Grigio set us back £40 which is a lot for a pretty ordinary bottle of plonk and the bill for 4 a shade over £200 which, again, I felt was relatively steep for what we got. The space is great (Also because I loved the previous occupants of the space, 'The Forge') - very cosy, very real, yet sophisticated with a clean look. The menu spans the culinary diversity of Peru, and about 50-60% of flavours or flavour combinations that you will taste will wow you in the superlative. The starters in the £30 long lunch Saturday option were something of a showstopper. Delicious Sea bream ceviche with sweet potato and corn to start with. Huancaina beef with coriander cress; the sauce was to die for. The tuna causa with yellow in the coriander lemongrass sauce was excellent. The mains which each of us got to taste from the other, were beautifully laid out in large lunch bowls. I had the chicken pachamanca (which is an Andean way of cooking), with salsa criolla. On the side we were served three large bowls of chuafa (spiced rice), braised quinoa and spinach salad. Excellent dessert. Alfajores, but the South American version which is basically dulce de leche sandwiched between two biscuits. Three large dollops of Amazonian chocolate mousse. read more

Went for the special Nikkei collaboration with Shackfuyu so I can't judge on their usual menu but the tasting menu was really good. We started with a tuna ceviche: I loved it and Im usually not a ceviche person. I really liked that the fish wasn't swimming in the sauce it was just well balances. The scallops and razor clams tirado: my favourite dish of the night!! Sooooo tasty. Beetroot puree and eel: probably the most original dish, it was ok but just a bit weird maybe of the puree had been warm instead of cold it would have enhanced the dish more. The pork tamale and grilled partridge: this one was weird just didnt work together and the partridge was really dry however it was a super good tamale!!! And the dessert: doughnut with chocolate ice cream good but not revolutionary. Overall the menu was creative and tasty but I still think the best nikkei restaurant in London is Chotto Matte read more

Been here twice now, once a few months ago and once recently. My experience a few months ago was good and I'd say just deserved about 4*. However this more recent experience just 2-3*. Firstly the Ceviche here is very good. The fish tastes fresh and is very appetising, with just the right sour level. I had the beef sudado as a main a few months ago and loved it, but this time round, it's been changed with a more tomato flavour. I didn't like it this time round.. In fact it made me a bit sick.. Something was wrong with the flavour combination. The dessert of chocolate was essentially chocolate mousse made to look like earth and dirt. Nothing special and trying a bit too hard. The worst thing though, was the extremely slow and inattentive service. It took ten minutes to clear our mains after we were done. Then a dessert menu took another 5 mins to come. Then it took another 5 mins to place our dessert order, and the another 5 to clear our dessert.. And another 10 to get the bill.. It was ridiculous! read more

I love brunch - it's an excuse to pig out because you're eating breakfast and lunch at the same time. But be warned - it's hard to finish everything at the Lima weekend brunch and I'm talking about the small Andean menu, not the long lunch menu. For £18 you get a selection of fruits, cereal, quinoa, yogurt and honey and that's just to start! Then there's a brioche bacon bun, potato fritters and an egg fritata. We had to take a break after this but we couldn't resist the dessert - alfajores with dulche de leche and chocolate mousse. Delicious! If you are a fan of the full English, this may not be for you as it's all about the delicate flavours of Peruvian food but if you like value for money and you don't mind feeling stuffed all day (or have better willpower when it comes to portion control than me) then you'll love it. My only wish is that the pork brioche was bigger as it was absolutely divine. read more

We went for brunch, everything was solid. We ordered the Andean course of brunch. First, food was good -- though I must say not exceptional. They put in a good effort for sure -- for example, the yogurt in the starter round was very rich and perfectly flavoured, and the omelette in the mains round was filling. I was looking forward to the suckling pig burgers, but they were too dry and unflavoured for my taste. I also thought the pancakes were a bit uncreative. Service was phenomenal. Since the restaurant opened in July 2014 I heard a lot of different opinion about it and always wanted to go there. The restaurant is located near Covent Garden on Garrick Street and serves traditional Peruvian dishes. My friend started her meal with a sea bream ceviche (£10), it was very tasty and refreshing. However we thought the portion was a bit small considering it was a starter and not a bar snack. As a starter I ordered the crudo mar. I never had blue potato, or rococo pepper before so I thought for once I will be adventurous. The dish had a nice presentation...however I was a bit disappointed my potato were more purple than blue ! Regarding the taste, it was interesting but it didn't wow me. I found my friend's ceviche was a better dish. My main dish was better than my starter. I had the Andean suckling pig (£26). The pork was perfectly cooked, crispy and moist at the same time. On the side andean corn and oiluquito potato went well with the dish. I loved the mix of texture present in this dish with the cripsy thin stip of vegetable on top and the green powder on the side. My friend had another ceviche as a main, this time it was the king prawn ceviche (£24). The plate was nicely presented and very colourful. The dish was good but too spicy for my taste, but my friend really enjoyed it. None of us fancied the dessert menu so we ended up our meal with a cup of coffee. Overall I had a nice dinner at Lima Floral. Dishes were very colourful and nicely presented but they were all a bit small and pricey. Most the main courses were more than £20 and not much bigger than the starter, not very good value. I am not sure I will come back to Lima Floral for that reason. I will probably choose Chotto Matte instead. read more

I was in town visiting a friend who picked this place based on recent press in Time Out, and I was so happy she chose it - especially as I'm a huge fan of the Peruvian trend! All of the dishes were perfect and beautifully seasoned. Starters - We tried the avocado dish and the beef (thinly cut, slightly cooked). The beef was amazing, the avocado dish was very good. We also tried the corn side, which I'd compare to something like polenta. Entrees - Two of us had the special, which was a paiacha (sp?) fish. It was one of the best fish dishes I've had this year - up there with a fish dish at a Michelin starred restaurant in Barcelona. The other two people had the black quinoa with scrambled egg. They loved it - very flavorful. They nailed dessert as well. A note about the menu - everything practically has tiger's milk, which is not actually dairy. It's made from boiling peppers or something. Service was fine. It's unclear to me if Lima Floral is more casual than the other Lima, which I understand has a Michelin star. I would not expect a star for this location, but perhaps a bib gourmand designation. read more

I've been to Lima Floral 4 or 5 times now and always leave happy. Stand out starters are definitely the ceviche dishes, but the Andean potato stew is also lovely. The Chicken and Beef dishes are my favourite main courses, but my friends have also tried the lamb and monkfish and really enjoyed. The only disappointingly dish I have had was the ceviche main course. Cocktail list is really strong and I always appreciate that they are willing to make me my favourite cocktail from the original Lima on Rathbone place, even though it is not on the menu (Captain Don Domingo) The dishes in the original are better, but I prefer the atmosphere and dining space in this location. read more

The staff didn't seem to have much clue what was going on, and btw this was not their fault, they were quite friendly but didn't seem to be very well trained on the menu. Went for the soft launch. Some dishes were amazing, others were just ok. The lamb was incredible, cooked to perfection and paired with the most flavourful and delicious mash I had ever eaten. The waiter was very friendly but the service was at time a bit muddled (white wine wasn't cold enough, and took too long to respond at times). Overall, a good experience, but a little pricey for what you get. read more

I came here for the weekend brunch, and it was appalling. We had the Andean breakfast, which looks like good value for 18 pounds, but I found nearly everything less than appetizing, if not inedible. The menu is just a list of ingredients, so you kind of have to use your imagination to picture what you're getting. For the first course, we got a yogurt with fruits and honey, and a quinoa porridge. Both were terribly sweet and hard to have more than a bite of. The mains then consisted of a suckling pig burger, potato pancakes, and an egg frittata. The suckling pig was probably the most promising of the bunch, as it had a nice chipotle mayo, but the brioche was far too big for the small amount of meat and filling in it. The potato pancakes were sweet pancakes covered in syrup and powdered sugar, which totally didn't work. And the egg frittata was completely tasteless; I'm pretty sure they didn't even add a pinch of salt. The desserts were a bitter chocolate mousse, and a Oreo type cookie made of shortbread and dulce de leche, and a jam on the side. They were a touch better than the rest of the meal, but hardly a saving grace. I've dined at the actual Lima and genuinely enjoyed the meal. I'm not sure what's wrong here, but this brunch menu needs reinventing. read more

I had hoped this place was going to have a massive turnaround and when I saw a 50% off the soft launch of their new brunch menu I was ready to give it a second chance. REGRET. The service is so so so bad. Hailing down someone after sitting for down for 15 minutes to get water. It was supposed to be all you can drink prosecco but they on'y came by to refill once. Other drinks not offered. When we ordered one soft drink it took 20 minutes to come. Even worse is the menu. "Brunch" as you'd expect it is only served until 12:30 and I think it is a fixed menu or else very limited options. But we had at 2:30pm reservation so we were forced into a fixed lunch which was 30 GBP/person and is designed as sharing. There are no selections. You just get the 4 appetizers, 3 mains and desserts that they are making. I've never been to a restaurant where you have NO choice whatsoever. No alacarte vs fixed meal. No selection of a preferred main. It is all or nothing on what you eat. So you would think the food would come out fast and you wouldn't have to wait 30 minutes for the starters. Sigh....we did. The food was mediocre at best. Sounded good, looked good and flavorful, but a lot of the food tasted bland. It is one of the most overhyped and poorly performing restaurants in London. I kind of wish it would go away and something worthy would move into the space. read more

Went here with my fiancé before I flight to Canada, and I had the Ceviche and my she had the pachamanca. Our dishes were delicately presented, beautiful in short words. My ceviche was perfectly seasoned and on par with the most lavish of high end restaurants in Lima. My fiancé asked the manager for ketchup because she is not accustomed to eating anything but fish and chips down at chicken cottage and he brought the ketchup. But we overheard him say to his colleague in Spanish "where don't they think they are, McDonalds?". So rude. My wife literally omg'd all the way home and I was like omg too. One star. Don't recommend going without a bottle of Heinz ketchup. read more

I was here this past Sunday for the Andean brunch and was not very impressed. The quinoa was so bland (completely the opposite of what another yelper experienced) that I didnt eat more than two bites. Those who know me, know that I almost always finish my plate even if it's not the greatest. I don't like wasting food. Yogurt was average. Not terrible, but nothing special either. Egg omelette was cold when it arrived, was the second best dish. These were left unfinished. Pancakes were covered in a weird savory syrup that we couldn't quite make out. We left these unfinished. Pork on brioche bun was tasty. Best thing on the menu. Dessert of shortcake cookies and chocolate was okay. Chocolate had a similar syrup to the pancakes. Also did not finish. Most reviews had comments about small portion sizes. The fact that we left most of the courses unfinished should definitely tell something. read more
