Well, as a Peruvian person that I am, I ordered Picarones from Lima Limón peruvian restaurant on Seco SCV tonight which I was disappointed about. It looked like a fried doughnut and it was very white inside- The real Picarones is supposed to be yellowish inside, fluffy, light and airy. - it is supposed to be made from Zapallo macre and sweet potatoes. I believe this squash is only common in South America, although other varieties of Cucurbita maxima, such as Hubbard squash, are found elsewhere. What I tried tonight didn't have any squash nor sweet potatoes. If you are going to call it Picarones from Peru--do me a favor--make it authentic! I'll tell you who has authentic Picarones. Lolas in Van Nuys has exactly how I used to eat it in Peru. Authentic fluffy, light, yellow inside picarones. So happy to have found such an amazing Peruvian spot in Valencia! I am a long time fan of Mario's Peruvian restaurant but I've been looking for somewhere more accessible and I'm glad to have stumbled upon this gem. Lima Limon is an authentic, family owned Peruvian spot with amazing service. Although when they are busy, you have to be a little patient because there's not very many workers, but I've never had an issue. The food always comes out freshly made, so it might take a while for them to prepare, but it's completely worth every wait. My partner and I usually share the lomo Saltado and tallarines saltados, and they're both so addicting and flavorful. I also tried their ceviche which was amazing, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the tallarin verdes. I thought it was too bland for my liking. The restaurant isn't super big but it has an ample amount of seating, and I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a table. Overall I highly recommend read more

I've always enjoyed the food here, and this visit was no exception--the food was delicious as always. Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the meal. This is now the second time we've experienced very poor service, which is disappointing. After our food was dropped off by a different staff member, our server never came back to check on us. We waited about 10 minutes and eventually had to go up to the register to ask about my husband's missing entrée. Throughout the meal, we asked for water refills multiple times but never received them, and I ultimately had to take my glass to the register myself to get it filled. I don't mind tipping, and I usually tip well above standard, but when we received the bill, a 20% gratuity was automatically added for a party of four, which two of whom were children. Given the lack of service we experienced, this felt unjustified. The food continues to be great, but the repeated poor service and automatic gratuity policy really take away from the overall experience. read more

We have been coming a few times around and the food seems to be changing in flavor. Could it be change of chefs, not sure. Service was ok, until we realized we were charged 18% for gratuity fee. We have a huge love for Peruvian food from visiting Peru so was very excited to finally try this local place. I want to start by saying that their portions are huge!!! We ordered the following: Ceviche Pescado - 7/10 huge portion, good flavor but not too sour. The fish chunks were also huge and I usually like them smaller. Fried Calamari - 8/10 crispy and huge portion. Wish it had a little more flavor but pretty good otherwise. Lomo Saltado - 5/10 sadly lacked flavor and taste. Was not a fan. Saltado de Pescado - 6/10 again huge portion. My husband said it was not bad but again wish a little more flavor. Overall I would give this place a 6/10. One of our favorite local family owned businesses. The service is always good, the food is delicious, and it's a fun relaxing spot to eat.

My family and I came to Lima Limon for dinner on a Saturday night around 6pm. We walked in without a reservation and were able to be seated immediately as plenty of tables were available. I used to come here a lot when I was younger and I feel like they changed something about the decor that makes the restaurant look a little bit more plain and less lively than before. That being said, it is still just as clean as always and has great music playing all the time at a perfect volume. Our waitress was very welcoming and came by to get our orders for beverages and food. In the meantime we also got some of their house bread with aji amarillo and this aji verde (which was tangy and tasted more strongly of cilantro.) The bread was warm and crispy and felt fresh. It goes really well with the spicy aji sauces but they also give you some butter if that is what you prefer. We ordered: Ceviche de Pescado: We shared this! Very good for an appetizer if you want a classic Peruvian dish that is packed with flavor, feels fresh/healthy, and is just delicious. The fish portion was generous and cut into nicely thick cubes. The "leche de tigre", or marinade for the ceviche, had just the perfect amount of lime and salt in it. This is what truly makes the dish so juicy and good! It comes served with both boiled corn as well as crunchy corn which adds a nice variety in texture. I liked the small sweet potato slices too which give you little hints of sweetness when you start getting a little too saturated of the lime/salt/onion combo. Very good! Aji de Gallina: Shredded chicken and potatoes in a very creamy sauce of aji amarillo that comes with an olive, generous parmesan cheese, and sliced hardboiled egg for decor on top. On the menu, they say this is spicy but I think the sauce is so creamy that it does not come off as spicy at all. Served with a nice portion of white rice that is very flavorful too and mixes nicely with the aji. My stepdad and I both ordered this! The chicken was cooked very well and felt very juicy which went well with the decadent aji amarillo sauce. My stepdad was not as big of a fan of this since he felt that the dish became monotonous really quickly and said he wished he had ordered another plate and just shared both with someone else for more variety. I enjoyed my food and the portion was so large that I had half left to take home with me! Found it very comforting on a rainy day. Lomo Saltado: A classic. This is probably one of the best dishes here, in my opinion. My mom ordered this and I got to try a little bit of it to refresh my memory since I had not had it in many years here. This dish has tender sautéed beef with bell peppers and onions in a savory sauce paired with rice and fries. The juices of the meat really elevate all the components of this dish (I love mixing them with the fries and the rice, as is intended.) Very generous portion, good ingredients, and solid flavor. Order this if you like beef! Fried plantains: we also ordered some fried plantains on the side and that came with around 8-9 plantain slices that were so decadent: perfectly sweet and soft on the inside with a mild caramelized crispiness outside, would also recommend this. Overall, I have always had a great experience here and continue to up to this day. The food is high quality and portions are generous. The service is also very good and attentive. With time, I would like to see them improve their decoration a bit since I think having a nicer ambiance would add a lot to this restaurant and make the experience even more enjoyable! Great spot for Peruvian food in SCV though. Will come back again. read more
