One of San Fernando Valley staples. They've been here since i was a kid Food is always good. Service is fast. Cool outside patio. Nice street view. #citylife

Alfajores, delicious dessert! The texture of the cookie was unique

I did not know much about Peruvian food, other than it involves a tasty green sauce, so I visited this traditional and well reviewed restaurant that was kind of off the beaten path. I went with a Peruvian friend who was able to guide me on menu suggestions and it did not fail. Everything was fresh and delicious and I found the different flavor profile of the Peruvian food to be exciting for my mouth. Fairly simple restaurant with basic decor, but amazing food. They specialize in Peruvian rotisserie chicken, which I will probably try next time. The service was excellent and very helpful, I look forward to my next visit!

This place is pretty rad. Totally did not expect to see a stage inside when I picked up the food, especially with a live singer singing rock en español. It's a casual sit down restaurant with great food. We got the family meal and 3 generations of family members loved it. Beans are slightly different here and lovely since we eat so much rotisserie meals. Thanks yelpers for helping me find this place

This place is really good, we went for a 2nd time on Monday for dinner. I had the Lomo Saltado and my husband had the Tallarin Verde Con Pollo ala brasa, OMG the food was delicious. Thus place is one of my top Peruvian restaurants.

Not the best Peruvian food in the area. We ordered three pasta dishes and two with carne asada and piece of chicken. The price for the pasta dishes was a little pricy. The chicken was dry and flavor was not good. The tables were a little two close to each other which makes it weird. The piece of carne was cook like it was boiled meat rather than seared. We also ordered fried seafood dish as well, upon asking what's taking so long, waiter said we never ordered it. SMH. We were the only table who also didn't get ask if we were doing ok and if we needed anything else. I wouldn't come back.

We come solely for the Ceviche Mixto and Lomo Saltado. Both are SO tasty and satisfying. The Ceviche is sooo acidic and addicting. The Lomo Saltado is a huge portion, good enough to share and the perfect amount of saltiness. A staple in our restaurant rotation.

Lomo Saltado

The food taste great. But the seating is too crowded. Elbows width apart. It's uncomfortable. The music is really loud as well. Too loud for the small space. I would also like to add once you get your food that's it no refills and no one is checking if you need anything once you're served. The musician wants a tip and so do the waitresses when you leave. I won't be returning anymore.

Already looking forward to my next visit , the chicken was so flavorful and juicy it came with two sides and it was a big order. the lomo saltado the meat was so tender and had such great flavor, as great as the those dishes were, I have to say the ceviche was my favorite. Absolutely delicious just the right amount of spice and it was a very decent portion for the price. So glad we gave this place a chance, it's going to be a regular for me from now on.

She specifically said she was looking forward to that feeling of the milkshake and then the extra that frosts up the cold metal blender cup and never all fits in one glass that they serve on the side. So we sit at the counter and we watched the guy make the milkshake, and he very proudly serves us the glass, and then we watch him go and pour the remainder from the metal cup into another smaller glass and disappear with it into the kitchen, presumably to drink himself. This is a $9 milkshake, and we only got about 2/3 of the container. I was disappointed and annoyed, but then this happened: a totally different server came over and said hey, it's late, and we have some loaves of bread left. Do you wanna take a loaf? Take your pick of type. So we left the place holding a beautiful loaf of seeded sourdough bread. So .... would I recommend this place? It's a tossup. Nine dollars is a lot for half a milkshake. But they know their way around a loaf of sourdough..

You can go to a run down old diner in any city, but this is the city of the stars. On this trip even though we were already heading to the establishment it must have been an extra slow day because someone was out on the boulevard trying to direct traffic to the restaurant. About 1/3 of the tables were full when we walked in, and it took a few minutes for us to be seen and seated. The wait staff is perhaps a bit understaffed to really be at their best. Our server did not explain much to us as far as the jukebox at our table, if we could use it and how... it would have been nice to know that. I ordered a Caesar salad and a coffee milkshake. When the server asked me if I wanted a small or large salad I asked what the difference in size was, since it wasn't explained on the menu to which they just kind of shrugged at me. Regardless of the perhaps lackluster service I really loved my food, the true, lived in vintage aesthetic and overall experience. Is 10.25 perhaps a bit expensive for a milkshake, i'd say so....but considering the overpriced reality of any trip to Hollywood I think it's something I would not regret spending my money on. Even though I can see why someone would rate this spot a 3, I simply cannot let my own rating fall below a 5 because I know the next time I'm in town it will be looming in my mind as the ideal place to feed my belly and nostalgic heart.

I gotta say - I am truly shocked in the best way possible just how good Mel's Drive In is. Now,…read moreit's not the absolutely most spectacular meal I've ever had, but considering how much of a tourist trap it is and how small the crowd was for dinner on a Friday evening, it was pretty darn good stuff. Our server was Juno and she was one of the best waitresses around! Sweet, attentive, super friendly, and her smile couldn't be beat! I ordered the short rib grilled cheese with a side of twisty fries or curly fries, and a Grants milkshake.. The food is definitely expensive the sandwich alone was something like $25 for the sandwich plus $2 for the fries being "upgraded" to curly fries. The shake was $11. For the size of the sandwich, $25 is steep. But you do get a big pile of fries for the upgrade price. The sandwich was toasted well and crispy on both sides, the short rib was tender a tad dry but great flavor, and there was a good amount of cheese! I think it sat for a while because the cheese had congealed so the timing was a slight issue but didn't ruin the sandwich. The fries on the other hand were a big miss. They were SO salty and pretty dry, like my mouth was parched for water every time I ate a curly fry. I don't know what happened there but the $2 was a waste. Now back to the good - the shake was amazing. For $11 they give you a full glass plus the extra in the metal cup. It was so well balanced between the nutella and banana flavors without being overly rich or sweet. It was thick too and had really great consistency. Sadly the sandwich filled me up so I couldn't finish the shake but I would definitely return for a milkshake in the future! Overall, a solid experience and I was pleasantly surprised, and I'd be happy to return if I was in the area!
