I did not know much about Peruvian food, other than it involves a tasty green sauce, so I visited this traditional and well reviewed restaurant that was kind of off the beaten path. I went with a Peruvian friend who was able to guide me on menu suggestions and it did not fail. Everything was fresh and delicious and I found the different flavor profile of the Peruvian food to be exciting for my mouth. Fairly simple restaurant with basic decor, but amazing food. They specialize in Peruvian rotisserie chicken, which I will probably try next time. The service was excellent and very helpful, I look forward to my next visit! read more

Not the best Peruvian food in the area. We ordered three pasta dishes and two with carne asada and piece of chicken. The price for the pasta dishes was a little pricy. The chicken was dry and flavor was not good. The tables were a little two close to each other which makes it weird. The piece of carne was cook like it was boiled meat rather than seared. We also ordered fried seafood dish as well, upon asking what's taking so long, waiter said we never ordered it. SMH. Staff is very friendly and honest at this festive casual spot that has great prices for Peruvian food with large portions. They have a good carrot to their menu as well as a good variety to their house made sauces that are left at table side. Parking is provided. Where do I start, I've only been here once and all I have to say is that I've been craving their food. From their chicken, to their rice and their green hot sauce was soooo tasty. I went on a nice day so I sat outside and I will say, I enjoyed it very much. Parking is a bit tight but the outside seating was cute. Here's something you don't hear very often, "Hey, let's go to this great restaurant I found in Pacoima!" Well, now you've heard it, and it's true! I needed to find a place close to where my friend lived and El Pollo Peru had good Yelp reviews so off we went. It was really confusing at first because there's a place to order outside and eat in the courtyard, and there's another place on the other side of the building where you can sit down and eat, but it's not obvious what it is. I had to ask a couple of people before we found it. It was worth the hunt! First of all, it's a family run business and you totally get that feeling when you're there. All of them super nice, just like going to someone's house to eat with their family. They really are that nice. They have the food to back up the good Yelp reviews. I asked for a couple of their specialties and was more than happy with what they brought to the table. I had the half chicken with plantains for one dish. $12.99. They brought all sorts of dipping sauces to go with it. So good! The other dish we had was Lomo Saltado, a classic Peruvian dish. $12.99. It's a combination of steak, fries, rice, onions, etc. in a savory sauce. See the pic I've attached, it's as good as it looks! Check-in on Yelp and get a free can of soda! When it was time to pay I wanted to add a tip, but it was already processed, no place to add a tip. Our server said tips aren't necessary. What? really? I had some cash and left a well-deserved tip.
