Holy crap, how can anyone not love Limerick Lane?!?! Ok, fine, yes, we have different palates so maybe we don't all like the same wine, but the whole experience was fabulous! I go to college. I am poor. I still felt compelled to find a way to eat less/watch less tv/whatever it takes to afford the wine club shipments because a.) this is the first place I've liked EVERY wine tasted and b.) I really want to come to the wine club pick-up party and eat the food. So, yes I am now a member of the wine club. The boyfriend & I came in on a slow Monday and were served by the assistant winemaker, who was SUPER friendly & knowledgeable. While we were tasting our last wine, he decided to let us peek in the back because it was a slow day. They have a wine-bottle-shaped pool in the back! How cool is that! After staring at the pool, looking at the vines & chatting a bit we decided what to buy, signed up for the wine club and were given a special treat taste of the Furmint. Yum. He also suggested we check out Thumbprint Cellars in town, which was also totally worth the trip. I now am in love with Healdsburg, no more Napa for me! read more

I give Limerick Lane 5 stars, because they succeed beautifully in everything they intend to do: -Produce a small quantity of top-notch zinfandel (and a lovely summer Rose), rather than a higher number of so-so wines. -Produce these wines at reasonable prices. Really, for the quality you get, these wines are priced reasonably. If you buy a bottle, the tasting is free (unlike many places that don't return the tasting fee no matter how many bottles you buy) -Focus on wine, not clothing lines or cookware or other marketing accoutrements that other wineries have succumbed to. -Remain unpretentious and down to earth. LL is such a breath of fresh air compared to many wineries in the area. They simply produce great wine! read more

We did a tour and tasting at Limerick Lane for a business conference - roughly 35 people. Originally, I contacted them to set up a private dinner event on the property, but because they are a small winery we would have had to rent most of the equipment. We decided it would be easier to have a dinner elsewhere, but they were kind enough to offer our entire team a tour and tasting! Andy lead our tour, he was amazing! So charismatic and knowledgeable on their history, and wines, and even had funny stories. If you have the opportunity to visit Limerick Lane, I would highly suggest it. Everyone is extremely welcoming and the property is gorgeous. You will have a great time. read more

Went here with a group, one of which was a member of their wine club. This is a pretty small place, very casual and unpretentious. Since I like big wines, I enjoyed their zins and syrahs. We wound up getting a bottle of their "1023", which is a zin-syrah blend. The tasting was free, not sure if it was because we were with a wine club member or because we bought some wines. All their wines are reasonably priced, though it was made even better by the wine club discount that we got. It was a nice experience overall, and I'm glad we got to try this place on our trip. read more

Limerick Lane Cellars is literally at the end of road. The gentleman in the tasting room was genuine, knowledgeable and interesting. We had a very interesting discussion on "Old Vine Zin" I really enjoyed the Zins. It's a short stop directly before lunch; we did not see the wine bottle pool. read more

It's always fun when you get to try good wine and learn a little along the way. We stopped in on a Monday, and were met by the winemaker himself. He poured us some delicious wine and taught us the hard, cold facts about cork vs. screw tops. In all sincerity, we had a bias against screw top wines before, but after visiting Limerick, we know that there is nothing to be afraid of. Love this place too. We just pulled off the road to the first winery that caught our eye and landed on this gem. Being Irish I was immediately suckered in....but what great wine and service we received. The sign said appointment only but the luck of the Irish was with me and we got to taste with some other nice folk. All wines were superb and we left with a few bottles. We came here on a Saturday afternoon and had a fabulous time. Alannah (sp?) was a gracious and informative host. The thing I love about this place is that they don't nickel and dime you; they have quality product, so have quality and classy service. We had 2 kiddos with us and the host was so understanding and tolerant of the multitude of questions our young ones had. We didn't realize appointments were needed, and were lucky that there was only one other couple so they could fit us in. The wines were spectacular! All estate varietels, and absolutely delicious and smooth. The tasting was complimentary since we purchased. But there was no pressure to buy, or guilt inducement. We got to see the beautiful vineyard in the back, and enjoyed the tranquil view with delicious wine. Just a straight up classy place! read more

My introduction to LImerick Lane was so wonderful! A friend of mine won a food and wine tasting with Michael Collins. I was so lucky to be invited along for this adventure since Michael had prepared some wonderful dishes to pair with some fantastic wines! We were given a tour of the inner workings of their winery and it was really interesting to say the least of the experience! They even have a pool shaped like a wine bottle! I love their Zins and they have a beautiful Zin/Syrah blend that is exquisite! Michael and Gina were very gracious hosts and I will be back for more of their great wines! read more

I think I've reviewed this winery before, (I've been going there for a reaaaalllly long time now) but they have changed ownership in the last few years, so I thought I would update it. Their wine is excellent, especially their zins which avoid much of the overripe jammy quality of others in this area. The people are delightful and very knowledgeable. They have raised their tasting price from $6 to a slightly annoying $15 for about four wines, but since I always buy something, the tasting charge goes away, so no biggy. Not one to slug down wine at tasting, I still appreciate the generous pour you get at this winery. You're not licking the bottom of the glass to appreciate something you noticed in your first taste. They require reservations now, but I just showed up on a weekday afternoon, walked in and asked, "Can I get a reservation...like now?" They were very accommodating. read more

Connected with old Friend, Peter, who manages the tasting room here. What a wonderful surprise! If zin's are your thing then this is your place! We lunched by the wine bottle shaped pool and tasted their 1023 zin/syrah and limited DecoZin. This is truly a find if you love jammy, fruit forward wines! A small tasting room but welcoming and generous staff! We were blessed with a picture perfect day to enjoy their grounds and their wines. A lovely little vineyard with a great Zin. The tasting room has a nice view if the vineyard and mountains in the background. It was raining the day I went, but not even the bad weather could take away from the natural beauty of the location. Inside you can cozy up to the bar and enjoy the wine. They offer two Zins and a Syrah. The Syrah is big, so if you like a Syrah that is a little more mellow you might not like this one. The two Zins are their regular and one they call Deco, which is the higher quality Zin, and which also has an interesting label. They are best tried side by side so you can really appreciate the subtle differences and extra flavors that the Deco has - I love that little bit of plumb that comes in at the very end, it's not on the tasting notes but look for it, it's there. Once you taste them side by side you will probably see that the extra $5 they charge for the Deco is well worth it. Can you tell that the Deco came home with me? I didn't give them 5 stars because of their limited selection, I would have liked to see a cab, but what really bothered my was that they use the automatic pour measuring spout thing, which many places are starting to use. I know it seals the bottle and keeps the wine more fresh, but there is something about talking to the server and having them pour you a big slug of wine as you talk things over. I don't want exactly 1 once of wine, I want it to flow until the server thinks is looks right. I guess I think the auto-measurer takes away a little bit of the romance of wine tasting. read more

Great Zin's. I love the location. It's a small little building right next to the vineyards and rolling hills. Great place for pictures. I wish they had a place to eat but I asked them and the owner said he didn't want to turn it into more of a place to go to chow down on your food rather then enjoying the wine, which makes sense. I try to always hit this one on my way up to Dry Creek valley. Try the 1023 (which is their address) if they have any more left :) read more

Wonderful location and incredible wines. The tasting room staff are friendly and we have always been welcomed despite calling late for an appointment. Their Zinfandel is a standout and we loved a Grenache blend they once had. In our last tasting the Syrah also demonstrates their sophisticated approach to wine. read more

This is a winery with history, friendly staff, a knowledgeable winemaker and most important GOOD WINE! Ranked Top 5 of the Best in Food & Wine Magazine's List for 2007 - the zinfandel is delicious. We ended up getting a steal of a deal on a magnum and the winemaker signed it! read more

Limerick Lane winery is amazing. I have come here twice and joined the wine club. The young man attending gave us a quick tour of the back winery and also let us take our glasses for a short hike up the hill. The views were beautiful and the Pinot noir was amazing. Really enjoyed the tasting room and the staff working there. Mary was friendly and knowledgeable about the wine. They're kid friendly too and definitely not overcrowded like most bay area wineries. That might change with their recent write up in Wine Spectator. But the wines were really good too. Their Zins are the best. The Syrah Grenache blend is good too. When I got my bottle home, it definitely needed to breathe a bit before drinking. But enjoyable no doubt. This is what a small winery is supposed to be all about. The vines are old and you can look at them out the window for proof. I look forward to more of their wines and being a wine club member for them. Nice (although sterile) tasting room and it smelled like sawdust and drywall. Upon asking the rude tasting room employee, she said they're still under construction. No biggie. Expensive for the amount of wines they taste. A friend wanted to see a bottle closer that happened to be on the back counter, and was promptly yelled at for going behind the counter. Which they hadn't, they just leaned closer. Maybe it was an off day, but I wouldn't go back just b/c of that experience. Expensive, rude tasting employee, not that great. You want a great, fun free winery with great people?? Head back down the road to Christopher Creek. They're great :) read more

We stumbled upon this place because we found it on yelp. 2 free tasting with check in. We tasted even though they said we were supposed to have an appointment which was nice. The guy was super nice... And wine was good but not worth 36-60 dollars a bottle. When we left he charged us 10 bucks for 3 tastings teach. Not a big deal at all... but we told him we found them on yelp so was hoping for the free tastings since we told them we found them on yelp and I am a laid off school teacher. I just hate when venues offer stuff on yelp and then the servers have no clue about it. It felt super awkward dropping in without an appointment, almost like they really didn't want us there. Wish it said appointment only outside so we could go somewhere more welcoming. read more

Gorgeous setting - great flight of really old vine varietals, from as far back as 1880!

I'm a great fan of Zins and Limerick Lane produces some great examples of this varietal. Peter, who runs front of house, spent a lot of time with us, guiding us through the tastings, as well as showing us around the grounds. Walked away with a couple of bottles of their 2007 Zin as well as joined their wine club, so looking forward to plenty more visits for pick-ups. Moreover, Peter was extremely helpful with his recommendations of other wineries in the area, he definitely knows his stuff. Looking forward to my first wine club order. read more

Limerick Lanes could use a better tasting room, but anyone who says that their Collin's Vineyard Zins aren't top notch should get their palate's checked. They aren't the big cherry/raspberry bombs that you'll find elsewhere but define elegance in an almost Pinot Noir way... I'm drooling just thinking of them... read more

Limerick Lane is fantastic! It is a small family winery with great mostly single lot production. Peter in the tasting room is very knowledgeable about the wines, a great chef, and a perfect ambassador for the winery. We got the chance to spend some time with Jake, the new owner, and is a completely down to earth guy who cares incredibly about the essence and purity of his wines. He is doing an amazing job and he is sincere in his passion to produce great wines while taking care of his customers and wine club members. The Cuvee Blanc is so unique and exquisite. I tend to be a "red guy" but the Cuvee is top notch and different than the usual white suspects. The pinot noir is awesome, good with food, the syrah is tasty, and the Zin block series, 1970, 1934, and 1910 are phenomenal! They create full, flavorful, food complimenting wine without the high alcohol content that I see a lot. You can really taste the terroir shine through straight into the bottle. I left a wine club member and look forward to enjoying many more visits and bottles. A true gem slightly off the beaten path. read more

Limeric Lane is a place for true wine lovers to go. Those who wrote bad reviews on here probably also enjoy 2 buck chuck. Their staff, esspecially Ty, is fantastic and extremely knowlegable. When going into their winery you learn that most of their wines are hearty and need to breathe....like most wines! Anyway, the tasting room is beautiful and I walked away very satisfied with my experience and the quality of wines. The new owners have donw a wonderful job keeping the respectability and quality. Their new labels are rustic and interesting. Thank you for such a great time! read more

Well, here we are in Surrey, England enjoying our last bottle of the Limerick Lane Old Vine Zinfandel 2002. We are celebrating and enjoying the company of my brother and former LLC WInemaker, Ross Battersby, on one of his all too rare visits with his family in the UK. So, what's left in the LL wine rack here? Well, there is a Deco Zin 2005, Zinfandel 2004, 1026 (remember that - deep joy!) and a couple of Syrah 2006. The Old Vines Zin 2002 wine is spectacular and accompanies our fabulous cheese board and viewing of the Olympics at London 2012 superbly. So pleased to hear that LLC is still 'doing the job' with the wonderful vines in that most beautiful of spots out there in Russian River. Hope to visit again one day soon. Good to see the awards are still rolling on in on Ross's vintages too! read more

An excellent producer of hand crafted Zinfandel and Syrah. The best gets blended as "1023" which can be extraordinary.

Cannot say enough great things about this winery! My mother and I did a Monday afternoon tasting with Dan. He was very knowledgeable and welcoming. The wines were great. We will be back and highly recommend it! Five stars! read more
