He completed the evaluation in less than 2 minutes stating everything was ok (which changed after purchase) without providing any inspection points/report or a Receipt for 80 dollars. I purchased the bike and went to him for inspection, and he was very rude and arrogant and using language that was inappropriate for adults. He actually told me to "Come back in 2 hours, and don't follow him". All I wanted was an inspection for the DMV and he seemed frustrated and angry and lacked proper etiquette & professionalism in dealing with customers at 10A in the morning. I immediately took my bike and went instead to Nations Cycle Center on Franklin St, which was nearby. They accommodated me with respect and professionalism, completed the inspection in less than an hour and were very professional. I wonder why people tolerate such nonsense from an angry old man like JJ who thinks he is doing a favor and trying to help you. I even called JJ on the phone to admonish him and his response was "why even bother calling me and even said he tried to help me" I would never recommend this business, in fact stay away or face regrets. No one deserves to be treated with contempt when you are a paying customer. He could have stated that he is busy and needs 15-20 minutes to finish up a job before he can deal with you. I can only imagine how he would treat you if you had any complaints or grievances post service. I am glad i left his store when i did, looking back at the reviews and some fake/paid 5 star dishonest ratings of this business. He doesn't deserve even a single star. Acts like a mafia boss, I am surprised he is still in business. Avoid at all costs.

Based on a friends recommendation and my desperate need to get my V-Max on the road I took my bike…read moreto Moto Clinic instead of my usual guys at Speed Motorcycles out in Manhattan and all I got was a comedy of errors and excuses. "The bike had been sitting for a while, You gotta ride it for us to figure out everything that's wrong with it, What did those other guys do to it...blah, blah, blah." I took the bike over to Speed Motorcycles in Manhattan and not only did they fix the "repairs" made at Moto but they did it cheaper and they found potential issues with the bike that they're currently taking care of now. What Moto did do is get the bike running after it sat for nearly two years but from that point it was one issue after the other and each time I brought the bike back to Moto they had no answers. To their defense, the owner and principal mechanic Frank Mantera was in and out the hospital and could barely walk and based on what I've heard about the shop, if he had been doing the repairs himself the Max would've been in great running shape in no time but Frank was literally in no shape to work on my bike and it showed. The people at Moto are incredibly friendly and it pains me to write probably the most putrid review you'll see on my page but unfortunately it's well deserved. They never called when they said they would, they kept me waiting and wasted my time over and over again and my bike and I broke down three different occasions after having it serviced here. As a customer I'm upset because I spent well over two thousand dollars at Moto to have a bike given back to me cosmetically sound but mechanically inept. I was so disgusted with the service and excuses that I didn't even bother to demand back the after market parts that I left at the shop that they neglected to even try to give back to me. Not that I have a naughty list but I have after market grips that cost me at least two hundred dollars that they failed to return to me after telling me they don't fit. My LED lights sat so long at the shop that when they gave those back they didn't work but when I gave it to them they were working just fine. I had a very blacked out cool skull that was supposed to be mounted on the back of the sissy seat that no one but me even remembers giving them. Complete disaster. I'd never recommend anyone to go to that shop unless Frank is doing the repairs himself and even then, I'd have to sit there and watch Frank doing it because after spending all that money, I feel justifiably shammed.

Anyone know if Moto Clinic still open post sandy? I assume they got hit. Frank is the man…read more Knows his stuff and is honest with repairs and service.

I was not expecting the bill to be so expensive. He will say "I'll try to work with you." First, he said the price was $190, then $650, and finally $950. When I bought it over, I wanted the electrical wires to be connected and the engine running. When I came to pick it up... - The headlights does NOT turn on and off. It always says on. - The turn signals does NOT work - The brake light does NOT work - The horn does NOT work - All the wires were nice and neat when i bought it over. When i picked it up, the electrical wires were dangling everywhere and cut. I asked him what the green wire you cut was and left disconnected. He doesn't know. All this play in the wires, and it still doesn't work. - The electric start does NOT work even though he claimed that the battery needs to be charged. It worked before I bought it over. It would crank when I plug in the battery. I got it back, it was completely dead. - The bike was very clean when I bought it over. It was very dirty and greasy when I got it back. We agreed to fix the engine and wires, but he only fixed the engine for $950 by using "new old stock" parts he claimed. The parts are just used parts, not NOS. Everything that was done was bare minimum. I got so pissed off when I got it back. I wanted to make this bike to look like new again but he only made it worse. I was going to keep it but now I want to get rid of it... my heart was broken when I picked it up. I asked him why isn't all the electric lights working and he said that I have to pay him more to wire it even though I told him on the phone, "fix the wiring and the engine".

This is an update to my May 2, 2024 Review:…read more At length, about six months after HMS sold my Kymco scooter, I finally heard back from the business: a settlement check - with a letter of apology for the failure to notify me of the sale, and my share of the proceeds. My share was about 25% of the proceeds from the sale. I regarded the settlement as perfectly unfair, and returned the check to HMS - with a letter that detailed my complaint. Again, months passed - awaiting any response. At length, HMS readily agreed to a revised settlement. Yet again, months elapsed until I received a new settlement check - with another letter of profuse apology for the delay. None of this would have occurred without my persistent effort to contact HMS - for information updates regarding the sale of the scooter. My year of contact with HMS leaves the impression of business practice that is almost unimaginably scattered and disorganized. I do not know why HMS appears to be so overwhelmed with routine business tasks. Still, I do not believe that HMS is engaged in any kind of deceptive business practice. Let's hope matters will improve at HMS. Meanwhile, customers would do well to expect the unexpected.
