Dr. Yau has a kind, compassionate, and gentle manner and I am always pleasantly surprised when he takes a genuine interest in my life, what I've been up to, etc. answers all my questions, and doesn't rush with anything. (Which explains why nobody gets their appointment on time. :) ) I also appreciate the other staff. One time I had painful 2nd degree burns from an accident; couldn't really go anywhere, and one of the nurse practitioners "held my hand" through text messages, advising me on wound care at home. The same thing happened another time when I had an infected spider bite. My only minor complaint is how busy they are and sometimes phone calls are not returned, or questions take an extra phone call to be addressed.

I drive all the way from Ventura County to see Dr Yau as he's so attentive and precise. He asks about issues I would have never thought of and is always spot on in his diagnosis. The office staff and other clinicians are outstanding. They are so kind and helpful. The office is clean and well appointed. It's actually calming. I want to make one point that people need to understand after reading some of the previous reviews. Dr Yau and the other clinicians take their time. They don't take short cuts or treat you like just another appointment like so many other Doctors do. iCare Medical group isn't just a name, it's a culture. They truly care. If you want fast, in and out care with no attention to detail or personal service you should probably just go to an urgent care. I don't like a Dr or medical group that seems like a MacDonalds drive through. I want a Doctor who cares, takes time to listen to me. It's worth the wait for top quality care.

A week later, someone from their office called me and asked me to come in so i can discuss my blood results with a doctor. They also gave me the option to do this over the phone and SURPRISE!!!! THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME ANOTHER COPAY!!!! At my old PCP, they did not charge me a second copay for discussing my results. if you don't want to be nickeled and dimed for everything, then i suggest you look for another doctor's office. But i would say the doctor's here are actually very nice. They do listen to your concerns and i did not feel rushed during my appointment.

The assistant who scanned my heart previously was very nice and remembered my condition even after more than a year. (Also, their appointments are very sparse throughout the year.) This cardiologist seemed more interested in how I was dressed than in my heart. This, among other things, made me feel very uncomfortable. I remember her making sure that I understood her comment about my clothes, saying it twice. I felt more comfortable around her assistant, who is a male, than her. She doesn't talk to you; she just nods and says very few words. There's no opportunity to express concerns.
