A few years ago I was looking for a a new tax preparer. After seeing the positive reviews for Randy on yelp, with a few negative ones, which is to be expected. I decided to use his services to prepare my taxes. All went well the for a few years.However, this all changed on August 13,2025, when I received notification from the California Franchise Tax Board that I was delinquent on my tax for $4,800.00 plus penalties for 2024. I immediately contacted Randy's office telephonically and by email for assistance on this matter. I did not receive any response . I followed up with three more phone calls. Still no response. Fortunately, in November of 2025, I was finally able to finally resolve this situation with an astute agent from the California Franchise Tax Board without any owed taxes or penalties incurred. It appears Randy's services are fine as long as you're not audited by the IRS or the California FTB. If you are, you're on your own. I guess I should have paid more attention to the negative reviews, which proved to be true.

Oliver gave me dates and times he's available, and after I selected and confirmed a time, I was ignored for two days. When he finally responded, he told me that the appointment time was given away by his assistant. Despite it being "first come, first serve", the time I claimed first was given to someone who contacted them after me. Now he has no more evening appointments, because they were booked up during the two days he ignored me. The sooner I file my taxes, the sooner I can get my refund to put toward my kitchen remodel. I don't feel it's fair at all to tell me that I need to pick a new date and time, when I requested the booking first. I guess the person who got the appointment time was more important than me. Obviously, this was disheartening after all the business I brought this place between me and my referrals. ***In response to your comment Oliver, I understand that family emergencies happen. However, why am I the one that needs to pick an alternative date or time when I selected the date first? It should be the person that called after me that should reschedule... this is assuming that it's "first come, first serve "as you stated in your email. Second, I also have a client facing career. However, I utilize an out of office response as a means to notify my clients when there is an absence or extenuating circumstance. Had you set up an out of office encouraging clients to call your assistant to book an appointment, I would have most certainly done so. Instead you left me in the dark and booked someone else during my designated time. It's a lack of customer service that cost you my business. You booked someone else during my time, and instead of apologizing, you made excuses. Even in your response to this review, you state, "I'm sorry you felt..." instead of apologizing for your mistake. My feelings have nothing to do with it.

Later, they insisted, despite my assurances and protests to the contrary, that I had not paid this bill. I told them I had the bank documents proving that the bill was paid. They still refused to believe me, demanding I pay the bill or be subjected to "late fees" that they would assess to my account. They obviously had done nothing to confirm my payment. I finally was forced to make an appointment to prove to them that I had, in fact, paid the bill. When making the appointment, at first, I was told I could not get a meeting with Mr. Dubois and would only get a meeting with another employee. After insisting firmly, they relented and set up a meeting with Mr. Dubois. At the meeting, at first, Mr. Dubois still held the opinion that I was in arrears. I showed him documentation that they had cashed my check which seemed to frustrate him. He then, begrudgingly, admitted that the debt was paid. I asked for a receipt showing my zero balance, considering what had gone before. At first he refused. After my demand that I receive a receipt, he begrudgingly relented, giving me a handwritten receipt and informing me that I was no longer his client. I agreed with that assessment immediately. Who hires a CPA that cannot keep track of a $400 check? Mr. Dubois and specifically his office manager Beth were very rude and demanding to me, even though I was a present client. In short, I had a very bad experience with this business and cannot recommend them.
