Then of course the volunteers and the people who come regularly to help the residents. There is a walking path by the pond, with raised beds and benches along the paved walking path. Inside the residents can play the piano in one of the sitting areas, enjoy a sit by the fire, a cup of coffee in the cafe, or a game of ping pong! There are weekly movie nights, card games, painting and crafts, as well as pool table alongside corn-hole! They have a family/friends breakfast every month! The caring and professionalism extend throughout every aspect of the community. The staff readily identified health concerns and sought to remedy them by referencing patient history and reaching out to doctor. They offered a full calendar of activities each week, as well as 'pop-up' events like ice cream socials. Whenever I visited, there were always residents outside (weather permitting) enjoying the sunshine, getting some exercise, and being social with each other. During the last challenging six months of the coronavirus, my mother frequently voiced how safe and cared for she felt as everyone at the Inn scrupulously adhered to guidelines in order to protect residents. I can't say enough kind things about the staff or the care she received. They clearly loved her and worked with her even though she could be quite trying at times. The staff were wonderful to our family too - very kind and supportive and communicative. She finally (after 6 months) made the move to a dementia facility this past week and the staff continues to check with me to see how she's adjusting. I cannot recommend Oak Grove highly enough!

We recently went for a visit, and I must say that this is some fine living! I'm ready to retire and hit it up. It doesn't hurt that it is in such a beautiful community as Boothbay Harbor. I'm looking forward to going back for another visit with my grandparents now that the leaves are beginning to fall. The facility offers full apartments with nice sunrooms for the residents, and it is a dog friendly community as well. You can also get a shuttle to take you most anywhere you might need to go, and the grocery store and pharmacy are right around the corner. There is also covered parking available for residents that choose to bring a car. This would be a five star living establishment if they would make the dog exercise area a little bit bigger. Oh well, I guess I should just be happy they have one.

Unnecessary testing was done when she was still on medications which made her drowsy on top of not being able to sleep at night because of a very loud roommate. ((Might I add, she was there for recovery, not to be tested/treated for dementia!!!) Dr Doane's ( assistant, he didn't even perform this test himself) determined she had dementia, couldn't live on her own anymore and was a hazard on the road, before any further testing was done he actually had her license pulled! 3 days later the nurse practitioner and her primary care physician said there was no sign of memory issues... She was fine and testing while vulnerable/recovering was incomprehensible!!! Now, she has to appeal to the state and take a road test. In the meantime, living on her own, they sent her home with no way to get to her appointment's or even get food. When they discharged her, we also noticed they gave us the wrong records and we have all the health and lifetime info of another person! Even that this person's husband is a child molester & she weighs 274lbs? Doreen, the very smug discharge nurse, was the least helpful and seemed all but upset to deliver the aweful news of how difficult getting my mom's license back would be with a smile on her face! Just Google reviews of Marshwood, they've actually made it to the news for so many complaints, and borderline being shut down. We will also be filing a complaint through the state and insurance.
