We ran as a family, my 8 year old thought it was amazing, my 6 year old was not really into it, but is proud of her medal. The distance was perfect for the kids, obstacles were engaging, but not too difficult for the kids, and the kids were excited to be at Belleayre, in the summer time, because it is where they ski. My one real criticism is that there was no festival feel to the event. IMHO, a half an hours worth of stuff to do after the race (dancing, face painting, limbo, whatever) would have really improved the event over all. This one minor complaint aside, Your First Mud Run is definitely worth doing.

There was a bar, merchandise you could buy, and some photo opps. Check in started at 11:30am but we didn't arrive until a little after 1:00pm. We checked our clothes, had a drink, and it was time for the race. The race started at 1:30pm. Everyone's energy was great! I loved all the different costumes. The race was about a mile and it was through the streets and over a bridge. After the race, there was a party with a DJ. Overall, I had so much fun.

Our Yelp team, 'Baby it's Yelp Outside', raised over $7K+ towards this charity and won third place in fundraising for NYC...Whoo Hoo!!! Thanks to all of my supporters and contributors in helping me reach my fundraising goals which added to the teams overall goal, couldn't have done this without you. As it was explained to me, this is one of the few charities that you don't have to worry about where the funds are going as it goes directly to the Children's Tumor Foundation and that in itself makes this particular event even more than worth it. Thanks to our Yelp NYC Crew, Drew, Sierra and Katey for being there. I was genuinely happy to see our Yelp table representing, as you always do. Thanks to all the Yelpers, friends and family that came out despite the extreme cold, very brave of you considering the weather conditions. This year it was clearly stated that you did not have to do the run, which a few people heeded. But that didn't stop some of the barely clad who did the shortened run by the Westside Highway, with car horns blaring, showing love or better yet wondering what the hell is going on with hundreds of people running in their unmentionables...that was a funny sight to see. Also, thanks to Brian N. who made me aware of this charity a few years ago and Alexandra K. who ran our cool team of Yelpers this year by keeping everyone informed and pretty much managing all things necessary for our teams success. They see our Groupon and we paid for 2 people but they wouldnt honor it. Noone is in the office so they couldn't confirm the reservation. Its disorganized amd just a mess. We've been here for 3 hours for a 2 minute experience for my husband. As a business owner, sometimes you just have to do the right thing. That isnt this business. I would never do this again amd sadly its taking away from my husband's Fathers Day experience and 3 hours plus the driving time to get here and back home, 5 hours in all.

I had never heard of this run before a few months ago, but I was planning to visits friends in the…read morecity in sept and was also looking for a run to do out here to kind of get used to running after flying and just out of my comfort zone (ie not on the lakefront in Milwaukee.) I'm so glad I found this run because besides being a really cool route - running thru the Brooklyn battery tunnel (sorry, I'm old and still call it that) from red hook, Brooklyn - it also was the one of the most inspiring stories I had heard about 9/11. It commemorates the route from red hook to Manhattan an off duty firefighter took from the tunnel to the site of the towers, with all his gear on, after they'd closed the tunnel to traffic. Because of that it's a little longer than a 5k (I clocked 3.68 miles). Tons of firefighters and police run the race in uniform- it's an enormous race with 30000+ people, and there's also lots of regular people too running. As you come out of the tunnel, there's firefighters and military personnel holding up pictures of people who lost their lives and also cheering everyone on and high fiving you as you run by. It was kind of amazing and even though I didn't lose anyone on 9/11 its very emotional and makes you proud to be an American. They put on a huge street fair with a ton of food - burgers hot dogs ribs pizza donuts beer...and fruit too if you were trying to be healthy. A band I guess performed too. The line to take the wall st ferry to red hook was early (7:30 am cut off or so) and huge, even by 7 am when I was in line but it was an amazing race...i highly recommend!

This year I ran the Firefighter Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers race and it was very humbling. We…read moreall retraced the steps that Firefighter Siller took from Brooklyn to the WTC during the 9/11 attacks. On 9/11/01, Firefighter Siller was off duty when he responded to a radio alert that the WTC towers had been hit. Since he was not permitted to drive through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, he strapped his gear on and went to the WTC by foot. Unfortunately, he as well as the rest of his squad (Squad 1) all perished. Thus race is in honor the memory of all of those firefighters, police and EMS who perished on that day. This race was very well organized, well sponsored and was even televised on CBS. Gary Sinise as well as his band performed and former Mayor Giuliani started the race off. This was a very nice race and is for a good cause. Highly recommended.

I'm a spartan race addict so my opinion will be quite bias. As with all Spartan races this Spartan…read moreSuper is race is a test for both your body and your mind. This Super race took place at Mountain Creek ski resort which features the largest mountain in NJ-Vernon Peak. As you would expect the terrain is very mountainous with steep inclines and deep valleys. Super races are typically 8-10 miles long and consist of 25+ obstacles such as the dunk wall, weighted bucket carry, atlas ball carry, rope climb and more. The various obstacles take place on the mountain with a 1,040' vertical peak, with a base of 440 feet and a summit elevation of 1,480 feet. Your thighs, calves...and your whole body will be feeling it. The course will not have mercy on you and neither will the weather. We ran the course as the NE was getting hit with a Nor'easter. For safety reasons they eventually shortened the course as racers were experiencing injuries and hypothermia. Luckily, my team was able to complete the course without injury. In addition to the incredible views while climbing the mountain top..your reward for completing the challenge is the ultimate feeling of accomplishment! Not to mention, you get a finisher's medal, finisher's tee, headband, free post race refreshments (protein bars, bananas, fit aid recovery drinks) and one free beer. I am looking forward to my next race #aroo!!!
