The routes get changed every semester or so for both bouldering and top rope climbing, and there are two auto-belays if you go there and don't have anyone to help belay you. (The people who go are also super nice--I've had people offer to belay me whenever I go alone!) They offer belay classes here as well--I think it's around $30, and once you're certified (they test you 3 times before letting you do your thing), you can come whenever you want! If you don't plan on getting belay-certified, you can still boulder whenever you want! :] For guests, it's just $5 for admission, which is about 1/4 the price of any day admission to the nearby climbing gyms. Harness rental is always free and shoe rental is $1 each time (free for your first time there though!)

Cons: - Packet pick-up was a bit confusing due to the odd layout of Paragon Sports - Course loop didn't lend to seeing many sights if that's what you're into - Ran out of thermal blankets at the finish line, so people finishing after 2:15 didn't get one Since this is part of a race series, the shirt doesn't really scream "NYC" except for a small note on the back saying "Disco Down Queens" with the date of the race. The medal itself doesn't say anything New York either, only on the ribbon. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning. Since I traveled to New York to do this half, it would've been nice to have more of a race souvenir since the series also comes to Chicago.

The last three months, me and my team have been training our butt's off. I recommend to everyone who loves to work out to participate (at least) once in your lifetime. In a nutshell-25 Military Obstacle courses -12 miles long *Tips-Being in shape requires one thing: hard work. And working hard requires no talent. *Follow the TM circuit guide listed on their site *Start practicing running (HILLS) that is-every location they pick, is an area with Mountain terrain and dirt hills (10 miles of up & down) *If you don't know how to swim, do not do the swimming obstacles. LOL *Buy GU-It will give you an extra boost, and Carb up two days before. *Do not buy new running/trail shoes-your going to end up donating them to TM, most people did. *TM is a mental Challenge, come with your game face on & be a beast while your at it!!! *Majority of the obstacles were all core, and upper body *All about Comradery! everyone was so helpful-Make sure you have tall people and men on your team! without them, we wouldn't have survived LOL At the end, Bragging rights!! totally priceless!!

Their response, here's a ticket to come to a future event. In the mean time, let me send a bunch of spam mail to you from @toughmudder.com @eventbrite.com @active.com Then surprise you with an email within your start time within one of these 100+ spam emails (seriously, over one-hundred emails). So the issue is one of our team members were given a different time for the Las Vegas event but didn't realize that their start time did not match. Having this changed has been a nightmare. OVERALL POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE.

Thankfully they made it pretty easy. Except its a really sick workout. Sore but in a really good way, I forgot to bring water but they gave it to me. I was a little scared at first but it's actually not too bad if you pay attention to the trainer. Very cool. Next I'm learning to kite surf. Wish they taught that too.

You're running along the Bay the whole time, and it's beautiful to gaze out. - Bananas, cookies, energy bars, cottage cheese, and water at the finish. - Efficient bag check at the start. - Day-of packet pick up for those who live in Manhattan. But Thursday packet pick-up for those who live closer. The cons: - This race is far from Manhattan. For those of you who are not familiar with Brooklyn or is new to the NY-area, the start of this race is about an hour to an hour and half from Manhattan, on the N or R train. While the morning commute wasn't too bad, the 2 hours trek home was pretty terrible, especially with the post-run chill. - A December race is NO JOKE. Bundle up! I seriously considered going home because the cold was biting - 35 degrees at 9:30, but the wind chill made it 24 degrees. I would have gone home, except I was running with two other friends and we took turns boosting each other's energy. For reference as to how cold it was, I wore a beanie, gloves, long-sleeve shirt, a windbreaker, a fleece jacket, long running tights, and ankle warmers. TIP: there is a cafe a block away. it has no sign outside to indicate that it is a cafe, but go wait there! Cash-only, however. - The sound system was broken, so the race started about 10 minutes late and we didn't get any music. I personally love the feeling of starting out each race with the star spangled banner at the start, but there was none of that here. This is a very small race, but there were mile markers and 3 water/gatorade stations along the course as well as a smattering of spectators (thank you! I can't believe you guys were out there to cheer us on in the freezing cold). Aside from the cold, which is something that the race coordinators could not control, I thought it was a good race for its size and price.

So here are the top ten reasons why you should participate in the Color run: 1. Big parking lot so you don't need to worry about whether you'll find a space. 2. T-shirt, two sticker tattoos, headband, wristband and free pack of color that comes with your registration pack 3. Emcee and DJ did a great job getting the crowd excited and riled up from the start of the event till the end of the event 4. If you're not a runner, you don't need to worry about being out of shape. Only 5% of the crowd ran. Everyone walked the 5k. 5. Color stations were fun and the volunteers did a great job getting color on you. They never socked me in the face with powder. 6. Water stations were great. Not really for drinking, but for throwing water at your friends. 7. All the free stuff from sponsors and vendors. Granola bars, ice cream, water, smoothies, yogurt, drinks, etc... 8. The run itself. Over 5k registered but the space was big enough that it didn't feel cramped. 9. The after party. The event staff, especially the Emcee did a remarkable job getting the crowd into it by queuing up EDM songs. 10. The Color!! They were very generous distributing color packs at the end of the event. Nothing like dropping a beat into a moshpit with hundreds of color packs launched in the air. Great job Color Run. Great job indeed. We will be back - Electric Run, here we come...

The vendors - free water and snacks. Music - ROCKS! Dj's are awesome and get you pumped for the race. "Turn down for what!!" The terrain - old airplane Tarmac. Not much scenery but the blue sky is beautiful. I would recommend this to the no pressure runners who aren't pressed to finish in record times. There is a celebration for all finishers!

It was a highlight of my athletic life, but even…read moremore so was being chosen to represent my running club and the United States of America at the opening ceremony. What an honor and thrill it was! As described on the NYRR website - The TCS New York City Marathon Opening Ceremony Presented by United Airlines, a spectacular event that celebrates the diversity of the race, kicks off TCS New York City Marathon weekend! Following a pre-show at 4:45 p.m., the Parade of Nations begins at 5:30 p.m. and showcases runners from around the world as they parade across the finish line. Representatives from NYC Running Clubs and several U.S. organizations, as well as professional runners and wheelchair athletes, are part of the procession. The TCS New York City Marathon Fireworks Presented by Poland Spring lights up the night sky after the parade. The whole event was amazing, the energy was electric, elevating music, cheering crowds in the stands, and a terrific fireworks show on a beautiful NYC evening. If you're a runner I highly recommend attending especially if you're going to run the marathon. It was a very prideful moment for me carrying our flag and representing. If you ever have a chance to march in the parade don't pass it up, as it's a once in a lifetime experience for most.
