I'm not a runner…read more No. I'm one of those people who wear fancy workout clothes and get out of breath after a minute of "running". So why did I sign up for this? I wanted a fancy medal! Of course, the one year that I signed up for this, they decided NOT to give out medals and to give out tech T-shirts instead. I guess I'll wear my tech tshirt instead of a medal while training for my next race. It was pretty cool running past the unisphere, museum, fountain (which did not run this year -- what, are they getting cheap with water too?!). Mile 1. This is good. I'm gonna keep running. Yeah. I'm almost at mile 2. Mile 2. Okay I did a mile. I'm gonna slow down a bit. Yeah. Mile 3. Why did I sign up for this again? Oh right, the medal. Yes. I've done 5Ks before, I can do this. Mile 4. LALALALALALALALALALALA Mile 5. Wait. Am I done with mile 5 or did I just start it? Where am I? I'm so confused. HEY THEY'RE PLAYING MY JAM!!! (Backstreet boys) Mile 6. I'M DONE I'M DONE I'M DONE!!!! Where the heck is the finish line?!?!?!? Oh... 10K is 6.2 miles... WHY IS THIS 0.2 MILES SO LONG!!!!!! Finish line. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I'm not doing this again. ........Who am I kidding, I'll sign up again next year.

I even turned in my fastest competitive 10K time, ever. One of the downsides is the ever increasing overcrowding issue that plagues these runs. It's a little annoying to be bumped into by many people. Give me some space, man. Another issue (my take) is not having the first water station right after the 1 mile marker. I think this should be a must, especially during what is probably the hottest run of the year. But overall, I like this fast and mostly flat run. Glad I ran it today and did well.

After one hundred and thirty two years, Aqueduct called it quits, yesterday, Sunday, June 28, 2026…read more We were on the rail, she likes to stick her tongue right down my throat. It marked a historic final day of live racing at Aqueduct Racetrack. In the 6th race we bet an Exacta and the official top three finishers who won, placed, and showed were 1st (Won):Georgia Magic (Jockey: Jaime Rodriguez) 2nd (Placed):Ez Roll (Jockey: Dylan Davis) 3rd (Showed): Willintoriskitall (Jockey: Manuel Franco) The payout was $85.50 and she was so happy, she'd never been to a race track, we were at the rail. We got lucky and got paid $85 on like an $8dollar bet. I wanted to hit some tree in the parking lot after that and I did. Dinner at Nick's to go all out on crappy Greek beer Mythois, n wine. Why can't the Greeks get their sh-t together to make decent beer and wine? From The Internet: Yesterday, Sunday, June 28, 2026 was an incredibly emotional and historic day for New York sports and horse racing. It marked the The "Big A" had been an iconic fixture of New York City culture since it first opened its gates on September 27, 1894. Here is why yesterday's final race card was so significant: 1. The End of NYC Horse Racing With Aqueduct closing its tracks to live racing forever, it marks the end of an era for the last operating horse track within the five boroughs of New York City. For generations of local fans, bettors, and families, it was the ultimate blue-collar, accessible subway-to-track experience. 2. A Massive Changing of the Guard The closure is the result of a massive operational consolidation by the New York Racing Association (NYRA). The state-backed, $455 million modernization project at nearby Belmont Park on Long Island is wrapping up, allowing Belmont to handle winterized, year-round thoroughbred racing. Downstate racing is consolidating there, alongside the historic summer meets at Saratoga. 3. A Legendary Legacy Yesterday's final crowd walked the same grounds where some of the greatest athletes in racing history made their names. Aqueduct hosted legendary champions like Man o' War, Secretariat, Easy Goer and Cigar. It even filled in as the temporary home of the Belmont Stakes from 1963 to 1967 while Belmont Park was undergoing its last major renovation. What Happens Next? While the roar of the thoroughbreds down the stretch has gone quiet, the property isn't shutting down entirely just yet: The facility will remain open for simulcast horse betting and off-track wagering through Labor Day (September 7, 2026). Resorts World Casino next door continues to expand, having recently launched live dealer table games earlier this Over 100 acres of the historic state-owned track land will be redeveloped into housing, retail, and community open space for Queens. It was a bittersweet, final $5-ticket goodbye to a local legend. Live racing officially moves over to the reimagined Belmont Park when it opens on September 18.

My horse "Assume Nothing" came in to win on the 9th and final race of the day. I loved the energy and the 70s style atmosphere. Silks bar line started to get long as the day progressed but I managed to sneak in 2 rounds of drinks before the lines became unbearable. Glad I left for Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn to drink some Guinness and eat wings at tidbits elsewhere. "Assume Nothing" now as legendary as Secretariat and Pie-O-My.

Of course many north east cheese makers and mongers were the stars of the show, but there were other tasty treats to go along with all that dairy goodness. Here's some highlights: - I was really impressed with The Maiden Creamery's ( https://www.facebook.com/The-Maidens-Creamery-947353872006400/ ) Seven Sisters Aged Raw Goat Milk Cheese because it is something you don't see too often, most goat cheese is soft and creamy, but not here. The aging added a depth of flavor to goat cheese usual funkiness. I liked it! - I loved Cooperstown Cheese Company http://www.cooperstowncheesecompany.com/ assortment of raw cow milk cheese - so much so I bought some to take home. - Awestruck http://www.awestruckciders.com/ (great name and branding) offered up inventive ciders that were not too sweet. Lavender hops along with a slightly sweeter Hibiscus Ginger. They were drier than most ciders I have tried and reminded me of a good prosecco in being accessible to most people's tastes. Also, how adorable does one of the creators Patti look holding her "baby" in my photo? - Finback! http://www.finbackbrewery.com/ The guys were having some fun while giving away some tasty saison and hoppy dry pale ale. Great stuff from this Glendale, Queens brewery! - How cool is that Rooftop Reds http://www.rooftopreds.com/ is launching NYC first commercially viable rooftop vineyard in Brooklyn! The wines at this event came from grapes grown in the Finger Lakes region, which were delicious. - Reisling was thee wine of the night - a no brainer to accompany many of the delicious cheeses here. - Silk Cakes http://www.silkcakes.com/ with their delicious cheese cake (of course), but assortment of different flavored profiterole. Working some magic right here in Forest Hills, Queens. - The M Wells Raclette http://magasinwells.com/ was absolutely mesmerizing and freaking delicious! There was a line ALL NIGHT LONG for this delicious dish and to see the show of half wheels of cheese being scrapped like a waterfall upon toasted bread and pickled veges. Of course it's ooey gooey deliciousness was the subject of Yelp's photo contest winner (Congratulations Katie - awesome photo!) All and all a great event with so many good things happening on two levels here. I do have a constructive criticism for next time: there needed to be better ventilation on the second floor with all the people and the hot soup, and raclette smoke made the space a bit oppressive at times. Overall, the event hit the right mix of vendors and had impressive offerings from most!

Growing up in Vermont, I am a huge fan of cheese. I loved sharp cheddars so much, I would slice squares of it for a snack (until the block of cheese was half gone). This festival was a great way to try other cheeses. We checked in, and got 3 beans to vote for our favorites. Coat check was behind the check in table but we opted to start eating first. The first cheese we tried was Merrion Park, which made round balls of hard cheeses. They looked like gigantic truffles. They were fun to eat. One of my favorite was the Hudson Valley Truffle. It was so aromatic and soft and creamy. It was perfect! The Italian black truffles blended well with the creamy white cheese. Another amazing cheese was Beecher's flagship (aged cow's cheese) and flagsheep (aged sheep and cow's cheese). These aged cheeses were so savory and sweet with Tyrosine crystals. I love hard cheeses with a crunch. It was so amazing that I am salivating as I am typing this. The Beecher's fresh curds was soft and fresh. Tasted like a milky slightly-sharp-mozzarella. The dessert cheese was caramel mixed with cheese from Call me Caramel. This was amazing! Gruyere cheese caramels or Cheddar cheese caramels. They were sticky savory and sweet. It was so unique! Don Rodrigo Duarte served an amazing pata negra. This was a welcome break from all the cheeses. The jamon was savory and slightly sweet from the pig's diet. The slices melted in your mouth. They were generous enough to let some people slice their own prosciutto. It was so fun! There was a VIP room filled with prosciutto, salami and cheeses. There was a gooey baked brie pie. I loved this! The flakey buttery crust complemented the cheesy brie. The raspberry jam cut in the butteriness of this bite. Casa del Chef served a good gnocchi with cheese sauce. Thank you so much everyone at Cheese Fest and Yelp! We had a great time! instagram.com/snackchatnyc

Be warned you sometimes have people literally rolling on the floor in the color areas... which already has somewhat limited view due to all the color powder, so be careful and jump over them... I recommend bringing a bandana of sorts to cover your nose and mouth when running through the areas they throw the color powder... it tastes nasty... The coolest part of this race is running through Citifield... like on the field! you bet I #selfie during that part of the run.

The next had Chef Kwame Patty Place chopped cheese patties on coco bread. We made it to our seats and sat for the first two innings. We departed and went to continue our quest for cuisine. I shared some pulled chicken off my sandwich atop the mac & chees. The Mets beat the Nationals 4-3.
