She was thorough and l did not feel as though she was rushing. She asked questions, as she was getting to know me as a new patient, and l in return, was asking her questions, which she readily answered. She is a physician that has made me feel secure in knowing l made a great choice, which can be a frustrating process for some. She referred me to a wonderful oncologist and was very caring through the treatment and beyond. You'll wait awhile for a new patient appointment, but once you've been established as a patient, you'll not have a problem getting an appointment when you're sick. She accepts most if not all insurances as well.

Despite this, I am still sitting in a patient room waiting at 10:55 am, waiting to be seen with only one person ahead of me when I arrived. This level of disorganization and disregard for patients' time is unacceptable. Unless you have hours of your time to burn, I would not recommend this urgent care to anyone.

I got my Primary Care office to send one over within an hour and they never bothered to check it. When I got to the appt, they 1) misgendered me and 2) told me the referral "doesn't work" because it's missing information they never asked for. They had almost an entire day to contact my Primary Care office to ask for the referral to be fixed but because of pure laziness they chose to waste my time. What's worse, is after they told me the referral won't be accepted they said "we have a 15 minute grace period..." like I was going to be able to get my Primary Care office on the phone and a new referral sent over in under 15 minutes. That's asinine. The receptionist was flat out heartless.

Unprofessional and Unresponsive Care This is the second time…read moreI've had to write a review about the poor service at this clinic, and unfortunately, it seems nothing has changed. My first experience involved a serious medication error where my prescription was mixed up with another patient's. Despite calling numerous times and clearly explaining the issue, it took them two full days to correct it. That was frustrating enough. Now, I've been without my medication for 7 days and have made multiple attempts over the last four days to get a simple prescription refill. I've spoken with two different staff members and asked repeatedly for either a manager or Dr. Abernathy to contact me--no one has followed up. The receptionist, whose attitude was cold and dismissive, clearly showed no sense of urgency or empathy. Instead of helping, she pushed me off to Ms. Kia, Dr. Abernathy's coordinator or assistant. I left multiple messages for her, and none of them were returned. I even contacted the Miami-based call center, where I was told for a second time that my request would be "expedited." But when I asked what "expedited" meant, no one could provide a timeline or answer--it was just another empty promise. This has now been repeated with no action taken. To make matters worse, my pharmacy also reached out directly and spoke with a staff member named Nya, who again did absolutely nothing to move the process forward. There is no accountability, no urgency, and certainly no adherence to the basic Patients' Bill of Rights. As my condition worsens each day without the needed medication, I am deeply concerned for my health and frustrated by the clinic's indifference. As a public servant and former medical professional, I find this level of care deeply troubling and unacceptable. I would never treat any patient with such neglect or disregard. Medical professionals are expected to operate with compassion, competence, and integrity--none of which were displayed here. To be clear, this review is not directed at Dr. Abernathy personally, but the ongoing failure of his staff reflects poorly on the entire practice. That this is the second time I've had to write about such experiences shows that these issues are not isolated incidents--they are part of a larger pattern of dysfunction and poor patient care. This office left me feeling abandoned and dismissed during one of the scariest medical experiences…read moreof my life. I was sent home after my procedure with incomplete discharge papers that weren't even signed. Within 30 minutes, I was in severe abdominal pain and unable to urinate. I called the office and was told this was "normal." Only 15 minutes later, for them to call me back saying something wasn't right, and was instructed to go to urgent care for a catheter. Urgent care couldn't help, and I ended up being taken by ambulance to the ER--per Dr. Lowe's own recommendation. What's even more upsetting is that after sending me to the ER, no one from this office ever followed up to see if I was okay. The only communication I received was about making my payment. At my follow-up appointment, no one in the office seemed aware of my complications or ER visit. I shared my frustration about the lack of concern, and I was told Dr. Lowe wasn't available--another physician saw me instead. Later that day, Dr. Lowe called and completely dismissed my concerns. He said it was "just complications," that it didn't matter he hadn't followed up, and overtalked me when I tried to explain how traumatic the experience had been. He even said, "That's what consent forms are for," as though signing paperwork excuses any lack of care. His final reminder? That I still needed to pay my bill. This entire experience made it clear that once my procedure was done, I wasn't seen as a patient anymore--just as a payment. Patients, black woman, deserve better communication, compassion, and basic follow-up, especially after being sent to the ER by their own doctor.
