The Steak Tacos are my absolute fav! I order my steak medium-rare then I add queso fresco, avocado, fire roasted salsa, crema and pickled onions. Did I mention that all toppings are free?! That's right - even cheese and avocado! That's pretty rare to find these days! Also worth mentioning are the Beer Battered Fish Tacos at La Ha. My hubby always orders them because he loves them so much. They're made perfectly every single time. We've also tried their Agua de Sandía and Horchata - both were excellent! If you're in the mood for always fresh and always delicious tacos, you need to check out this place! Note: La Ha Tacos also recently introduced new menu items like their Nachos, Taco Salad and Queso Cheese in case you prefer something other than Tacos.

This food truck is located in a car wash parking lot in Orleans, with not a whole lot of parking. We arrived during lunch, around 11:50. Big mistake, I guess? There were maybe 5 people in line, so we decided to wait it out. It could not be that long right? The hubby waited in line while I waited in the car. It took him about 10 minutes to place his order. I believe it was somewhere around 12:09 where he came back to the car and said it would probably be around 15-20 minutes for the food. I contemplated him driving us back home and then him heading back for the food but we decided to just wait it out in case it was ready earlier than expected. I've never been to this place before, and did not do much research beforehand, but if I knew this place is known for the long wait times, I most likely would have skipped coming here, or just ordered online, which a lot of people were doing. That may have caused a back log of orders. Online orders, telephone orders and in person orders for a small food truck, with 3 people working....that is a lot of pressure, and it kind of screws over the customers placing orders in person. Fast forward to a screaming toddler, a person waiting in their car eyeing me for our parking spot (for 20 minutes...eyeroll), and a very slow food truck, we FINALLY got our tacos at 12:45pm. On to the food...everything is made in house, from the chips to the toppings. All platters come with 3 tacos, side of chips and salsa. You are able to add additional free toppings to your tacos like salsa, cabbage, avocado, ect. I am kicking myself in the butt for not doing so. I ordered the fish tacos, and the hubby ordered the pork. He noted that his pork was pretty dry and wish he added salsa to his tacos. Although, he did say they were good (but again, not wait 45 minutes good). My fish tacos were pretty flavorful, but I ran into the same problem with them being dry. The first taco I found the fish on the drier and chewier side. The other two were fine. It came topped with a crema sauce so that helped a bit.The chips were really good, and addicting. Their salsa that came with the chips was awesome and a pretty nice portion. The tacos itself are about 3 bites. The tacos were good, but waiting 45 minutes at a food truck is inexcusable, and left a sour taste in my mouth. I would not rush back, but this place is not a write off, because the tacos were good. Do yourself a favor and call in your order.

I finally made it there today, but ended up getting take out, so didn't actually get to eat in the bus after all. The food was ok but overpriced in my opinion. I had the cheeseburger combo ($10.75) which was a cheeseburger, small fries and a can of pop. The cheeseburger was pretty small. However, you can add toppings like fried mushrooms and fried onions for free. I got both those and also lettuce and tomatoes (also free). The burger tasted good, it was just really small. The fries are also a small portion and I felt they were just ok. They smelled really good, but didn't really taste like anything special to me. However, they may have gotten soft during my drive since they were in a covered container. Maybe they were crispier when fresh. I will give this place another chance by eating there next time, so I can taste how the food is when it's freshly made. I like that the bun is plain and doesn't have seeds on it. I got the regular bun, but they also have gluten-free buns. The staff working there were nice. And I had to say the whole double decker bus thing I find really cool.

This place is great. This is a food truck, and you always know exactly where it'll be!…read more The menu is a pretty good assortment of the usual fast food fare - burgers, hot dogs, fries, poutines, onion rings, fried finger-foods, and ice cream. But everything is made fresh to order and they have a nice assortment of add-ons you can have on your burger, many of which have no additional cost (you only pay extra for cheese and bacon). The food quality is really good as well. The gravy is really delicious and has a nice consistency. And the serving sizes for the fries and onion rings are very generous. They also have some really interesting poutine toppings, including pepperoni, steak, pogo, hot dogs, and donair meat. There is plenty of outdoor seating on the large patio/deck area, or you can sit inside on the upper level of the bus. As a bonus, it shares a parking lot with the Innes Road Golfland, so if you feel like having a game of mini golf after lunch, or taking advantage of their driving range, it couldn't be more convenient.

The menu is a lot simpler, and they are just selling tacos, churros, chips and gauc and some drinks. The hubby and I both got a set of 4 tacos each and a side of churros. I ordered 3 fish and one vegan, but they packed in a beef one instead. I don't eat beef, so my loss, and hubbies gain. The hubby got a fish, jerk, beef, and pork. He loved them all, but was meh about the beef, as it was not as colorful looking as the rest. I thought all my fish tacos were fantastic. The tacos also came with lemon, and lime and a side of hot sauce, which was super flavorful and not too hot. I wanted to try the chips and gauc but they were sold out. Churros delish and I really enjoyed the chocolate sauce for dipping. It would be awesome if they had a caramel sauce as well. Opening up the new sleek black packaging made me extremely happy as well. The tacos were so bright and colorful. Seriously, go look at the pics I uploaded of the tacos...WOW! Everything was packed with so much care. This would have been a solid 5 star for me, but again, they gave me a beef taco instead of the requested vegan taco. 4.5 stars.

Egyptian Corner - Rice pudding $5

TL;DR/The Short Version: Food truck serving Egyptian street…read morefood. The Koshary was great. The rice pudding was the best rice pudding I've ever had in my life! The Long Version: I learned about Egyptian Corner on Reddit. I do not know of any Egyptian restaurants in Ottawa as of the writing of this review. Once upon a time there was the Pharaoh's House on Rideau, which I tried and liked, but they have long closed down. Then Vardera Cafe and Lounge out in Stittsville served an Egyptian menu on certain days of the week, but I never got the opportunity to try their Egyptian food before they also closed down (their regular menu was great, so I was really disappointed they didn't last). So I was really stoked to hear there was a food truck serving Egyptian street food. The first time I had Koshary was at La Folie du Koshary in Montreal on St Mathieu (it too has closed down) and I loved it! I also had Om Ali for the first time there too. It was 8 years ago and I still dream about that Om Ali. I was hoping to get the same things at Egyptian Corner. They had Koshary, but didn't have Om Ali (bread pudding) but had Roz Bel Laban (rice pudding) instead. Let's just say I am now dreaming about the rice pudding at Egyptian Corner! The Koshary ($8) was a good size and served in a paper bowl. It had pasta (spaghetti, macaroni and ditali), rice, lentils, and chickpeas in a tomato-based sauce and was topped with crispy fried onions. It was so delicious. My husband and I shared it, but I easily could have had my own, lol. It came with 2 sauces in small solo cups, a yellowish garlicky water and a red oily emulsion. I didn't use either because I thought it was tasty as is and I didn't want it oily or too wet. My only complaint is that the Koshary was not hot, it was room temperature. It would have been next level tasty if it was hot. The rice pudding ($5) also came in a paper bowl, albeit a smaller one than the Koshary. This rice pudding is the best rice pudding I've ever had in my life! It was so creamy and not too sweet. It was topped with a scoop of Ashta and sprinkled on top was crispy vermicelli and crispy phyllo pastry pieces. Omg! So tasty. I now have another dessert to haunt dreams. Lol. Luckily the rice pudding was chilled and not room temperature. Service was courteous and quick. The food truck is parked on the Jiffy Lube lot at Bank St and Riverdale Ave. They have a few tables and chairs immediately in front of the food truck if you want to eat on-site. We took it to go and ate it while walking along Bank St. Their menu is small. They have Falafel sandwiches and Fava bean sandwiches in addition to Koshary and the rice pudding. I cannot recommend this place enough! If you like Egyptian rice pudding or Koshary, or want to try it, you need to try Egyptian Corner. Thank you random stranger on Reddit for posting about this new food truck! (169)

Yeah, I'm a princess, lol.). Anyway, I finally decided to make a special trip out there and the food was fantastic! I got the Chicken Inasal ($11.25, plus taxes), I asked for no sesame seeds, and that wasn't a problem at all. The chicken was lean, which I really liked, and it was very flavourful. It came with garlic rice and a jicama slaw. The slaw was really creamy, maybe a tad too rich for my liking, but otherwise very good. You could taste the garlic in the garlic rice, but it wasn't overpowering, which is good because no one wants to walk around smelling like a garlic bulb. This dish was delicious, but my only complaint is that I found the portion size a bit small. I was still hungry afterwards and ended up getting a meat pie at Nasser Bakery across the street, and also a cannoli at Farmer's Pick, lol. I dunno, maybe I just have an unusually large appetite, haha. Service was friendly and relatively quick. They are in the parking lot of the plaza at the south west corner of Prince of Wales and Meadowlands. The same plaza as the Shoppers Drug Mart, McDonalds and Baskin Robbins. They are right in front of that garage called Oil Changers. There are 3 picnic tables with umbrellas where you can sit and eat. Free parking in the plaza parking lot. I got to experience T&D Chips for the first time recently by happenstance. I only ate a few fries, but they were good typical chip wagon fries. My husband and I were walking around Centretown and getting hungry. We planned to have a snack at King's Wrap, but they do this unusual thing where they close between 3:30pm and 5pm and guess what time it was? Yes, during the time they are closed. So my backup plan was Yi Ryo. The wait for my food at Yi Ryo was apparently too long for my hangry husband who was waiting outside, so he marched on down to Lisgar and Bank Streets and grabbed some fries at T&D Chips. So when I stepped out of Yi Ryo, I saw my husband standing on the street, voraciously eating fries out of a paper bag, lol. Being a good Yelper, I stopped him for a picture of the fries and sampled some, haha. So he told me they were $5 and the food truck only accepts cash. They were hot and crispy and slightly sweet. I liked that they weren't mealy. He told me it was a medium, but the bag looked pretty small to me. However, given places like Clocktower charge $12 for an order of fries (yup, for real, I couldn't believe it and further couldn't believe that my husband actually bought them once, and they weren't even good, but that's another story) I guess $5 is a deal these days. And the fries at T&D chips were actually good. Anyway that's my story about T&D Chips, lol.
