Went in here for the first time. We ordered chicken fingers, a burger, and a salad. The portions are really generous. All the food was basic diner food but did taste good. I would recommend if you're in the area or just want a quick place to grab a bite. The service was a bit slow but it's ok.

As you can see, I didn't exaggerate how unappealing my food was.

I'm an older woman who doesn't enjoy food like I used to. A diner has always been my go to place because of the variety and the good food. I was excited to be returning to the Lindenhurst Diner especially after all the advertising they've been doing. I was very disappointed. I ordered the appetizer sampler and French onion soup. The food was so over cooked. The potato skins were dry and the cheese was burned. The "fried mozzarella" was like a brick. The picture is attached. I ordered a takeout burger platter for my son. Who ever heard of a burger platter with no pickle or cole slaw.

A great neighborhood diner. Please support this diner ao it doesn't disappear like a bunch of others. Eat-in, take out or order delivery. They even have a reward program. Food is made fresh so it takes awhile. Portions are large. Food is delicious. They will accommodate your personal requests. The hubby loves the desserts in the showcase. They're bringing in more specials and aome media worthy drinks! Service is attentive. We've visited several times and will be back again soon. Bathrooms are unisex one seater. Check out the parrots in the nstreet. Top of the pole across the street. FYI, they partner for life!

"French toast" consisting of plain texas toast and powdered sugar

My husband ordered french toast and they brought out a plate of three thick slices of Texas toast with powder sugar. We looked at it confused and each took a bite to confirm that it was actually plain toast. We told the waiter that the french toast seemed plain and was missing cinnamon or something. He doubled down and said they don't use cinnamon in their french toast. My husband gave up seeing this conversation was going nowhere and just ordered a short stack. If you are looking for a good plate of French toast I wouldn't recommend here.

Everything a diner should be: great selection of dishes, everything made to the order, enormous portions, ample parking, good lighting, excellent acoustics. In addition to that the service is attentive, fast and with a smile. My final comment is that they take cleanliness very seriously: the place is spotless!

Delicious banana chip pancakes. So crispy and moist! Clean and would recommend checking this place out. Service was a little slow but probably a busy day or understaffed

Came here for lunch and dinner on separate occasions and would be eager to come back for breakfast as well. As it is naturally a diner staple. Atmosphere is exactly the traditional diner look you come to expect, plenty of bright colors and chrome, kicks you right in the nostalgia. But nothing is actually "old" either which is a plus. Both times I've gone staff have been friendly and helpful but just a touch slow to attend to my groups, but not egregiously so. Parking is pretty easy in the attached lot, plus some options on the side streets nearby if the place is really hopping. Food is very tasty and like any good, has a million choices to choose from. I've tried their Buffalo chicken caesar wrap, the chicken bacon ranch wrap, and the beef gyro. The gyro and the Buffalo Caesar were my favorite. Shout out to their fries though! Normally diner fries are nothing to write home to mom about, but their's are nice and crispy, and dare I say are nearly a highlight of the meal. One thing to appreciate as well, although I'm not vegan, they do offer a lot of vegan options, way more than any diner I've been to before. I was also very tantilized by their delicious sounding dessert options, but I controlled myself and saved it for another day. Prices are great for what you get, as things have got more expensive recently, the menu has managed to stay reasonable, making the bang for your buck feel a lot better.

This diner was an awesome surprise after a dance competition. The food was delicious. The plates were large and plentiful. My daughter had a shake that was to die for she said.

Let me start off by saying, do not listen to the negative reviews, try this diner out! With that being said, it IS diner food, don't come in expecting Michelin star food and leave them a negative review. Little cozy diner off the road with great diner food. The waiter we had was super chill, had a quick laugh over the size of the food when I ordered. Smiled and laughs are definitely was a bonus. The other staff was super friendly as well. Definitely coming back here whenever we're back in Lindenhurst!

Whether dining in or ordering takeout, the food takes far longer than expected. The waitstaff often seems disorganized, and communication regarding delays is lacking. I understand restaurants get busy, but after multiple visits, the same problems keep occurring. This brings us to The James, managed by Joe Giannino under the fat-cat "Standard Hospitality Group," owned by Andrew Affa & Steve Squirtiro. It's hard owning a business and keeping it profitable but not when it's an almost algorithmic formula driven money extraction system so commonly found today. It's more difficult dining out in the world today when it feels like hospitality is vacating. Vining more about high-revenue than humanity. By very definition, I wouldn't call a good portion of the hospitality industry hospitality at all, and I certainly wouldn't say the James offers any. What I love about food is what it does for the soul, & what I've always loved about providing and caring for people is the sense of community; connection during good times and difficult ones alike; That's hospitality to me. Breaking bread is one of the most fundamental human gestures of generosity and true wealth. When you have it, you share it not squander it, not hoard it or treat it like it's something to take from others and line your pockets with. That's why this experience disappointed me so much, because I believe with the myriad of options, we must be far more selective and far more supportive of local and smaller family run establishments. Today, for a table they would still fill and never notice, I tried to cancel a reservation out of respect -- respect for the staff, for other guests, and for my damn self. Being charged a cancellation fee when a mom is sick on Mothers Day, is not hospitality, it is not empathy. It is greed disguised as brand experience self worth. I have supported the Arlo from this same restaurant group in the past and probably would have happily returned too, based on the menu alone, but coldhearted, rigid policies like this change how a place feels. There are many family-run restaurants that understand flexibility and empathy. That kind of environment matters to me, and this experience will forever make me decide to support those places instead. I've recently learned to name positive outcomes when something negative arises, so I believe this time, it's great that it only cost me fifty bucks to never give this group another dime. Typical corporate hospitality is more what the James can offer. These types of COMPANIES feed themselves, not the community.
