All the therapists here are DPTs…read moreand understand that your goal is to get back into your sport, and won't limit your body to "ideal" movements. You won't be told that it's bad to squat below parallel, or put your arms up past your shoulders. I've heard both of those statements from other places, unfortunately, no sport follows those movement patterns. They stay on top of current best practices in therapy, and do a great job of getting you out of there as soon as you're ready. If you're scheduled for 10 visits, but you've cleared all of their tests to graduate therapy in 7 visits, they won't waste your money making you come in another 3 times. I'll absolutely be back here should I get injured again.

We were there for a second opinion so he had allegedly already taken a look at the original x-ray. I also wanted to ask questions and point out something I saw on the x-ray. He never looked at it. He talked over me, loudly, had a smug attitude, and was extremely rude to me. He told me there was nothing wrong with my sons leg according to the x-ray, but, as I said, I was there for a second opinion. Children's Hospital took the x-ray, and put my son in a leg brace based on their findings. My son had a knee injury. The excruciating pain was not a constant, and of course my son was experiencing it while we were in the office. But it had returned after the brace, when he does activities, and it at times is so bad that my son cannot walk, that indicates there is still an issue. Dr. Shaw told me kids injure themselves and it's better in a day or two. I told him that this had been happening since April. He shrugged his shoulders. I asked what would he recommend doing? He said "Don't know." From a professional, I was really hoping to get some answer other than "maybe." Dr. Shaw's attitude toward me was that I wasted his time, I was inferior to him, and he nonchalantly dismissed any question that I had about healing my sons leg with a one worded answer such as "maybe." I wonder what it was about me that he was prejudiced against. I NEVER showed any disrespect even when he did, and I never showed any sigh of attitude. I just don't understand why he disliked me so much immediately that he didn't even care to try an assist my son. He should be embarrassed but his demeaning, narcissistic behavior lets me know that, he won't be. I wasn't looking to be coddled, I wasn't waiting for the answer I wanted, I just hoped and assumed he would be professional and give me guidance for my child.

Never received call back on findings. 2.5 days later, I'm double over with SEVERE BACK PAIN. Squaded out again with stroke level BP, and "20" pain level. Rude nurses, no compassion relieving pain. Received diagnosis of type of infection like it was no big deal, and by this time because of my history I was thinking infection included stones or traveled to kidneys. Then I was "out of it" mentally because it's normal to be outta your mind under those conditions and my age. Then they changed the "script" and turned a voluntary pain induced ER visit into a 72 hour hold! I was held hostage and not given my patient rights and ignored my caretakers opinions. Condescending awful group of so called professionals. And when I spoke up after the meds were finally given, I got another ride to a psychiatric hospital. Oh and they lost my clothes.

Check in was quick, prep was even quicker, and the entire time my son was in surgery I knew what stage he was in. That's probably mostly because it's a pain in the ass to find a new family physician though... As a teenager, I had frequent bouts of strep throat, but never the kind that was detected by the rapid swab tests. Even though this became apparent rather quickly, I can't tell you the number of times I had to make numerous trips to Dr. Farber's office when my rapid tests would come back negative and he would tell me it wasn't strep, yet a few days later, the symptoms persisted. I will give their office props for one thing, though: Shortly after I graduated college and was unemployed with no health insurance, I broke my foot. Since I was an established patient at the office, they worked with me to charge me a minimal amount for my visit and they also worked out a deal with the imaging center where I had my x-ray. I was so grateful not to have to worry about being able to afford getting care for my foot and they took excellent care of me. So, while he might not be the sharpest crayon in the medical box, Dr. Farber is a great guy, and he does look out for his patients.
