Called last minute for a flower wristlet for my son's winter ball. I was happy they accommodated my order but thought wow $30 is overpriced but at that point beggars can't be choosers. As we picked up, the girl who worked there showed us that there is an elastic band to slip onto wrist, ok easy enough. I was happy, my son was happy, hubby and I drop him off. End of night, we pick up my son and his girlfriend, they tell me the band broke and didn't get to wear it. Ugh! What a big big disappointment. Did all that and she didn't even get to wear it. This lei shop has been my family's go to for amazing lei since I can remember!!! I got all maile for prom, graduation and other celebrations here as well as lei or flowers for special occasions!!! Located right before the corner of Maunakea and King, you can't miss their sign. I am not sure of their current hours...but you can see the ladies in the back sewing their magnificent lei and talking story. I recommend you park in the municipal lot right across the street from the shop, or if you can, have someone drop you off, go around the block and then pick you up. Whenever I have a question about if what I am choosing is appropriate for the occasion/person, they always helped me out to make the right decision. Horrible service. I don't understand why they would continue to completely ignore me as a client. We reached out to them over a span of 3 weeks with phone calls, emails, and voice messages. The lady who kept answering the phone kept saying "he will get back to you." If they are too busy or don't want the business just tell me as a customer your load is too heavy right now so I can exclude you as a vendor. I can't answer how their value or selection is siince I was ignored as a customer. So disappointing. I highly recommend Always Flowers 808. They answered right away with very reasonable prices. Lin's Lei Shop is awesome because it's open later than (I think) any other lei shop or florist--they don't close until 8:00 pm Tuesday - Saturday/6:30 pm Sunday and Monday. So when I don't have time to pick up a lei during the day, I know I still have time to get to Lin's after work. Lin's carries the standard variety such as fancy orchids, single orchids, tuberose, ginger, cigar, kukui, and ilima. The prices are similar to other shops in Chinatown. My first experience with Lin's. Pre ordered a week before. Order was ready but all 6 leis were all stuffed into a plastic bag. I then asked for each lei to be placed in separate containers. I also requested for red ribbons when I placed the order and the ribbons on them were all white. WTH! The guy helping me had to remove all of the white ribbons & replace them with red ones and put them all in separate containers. Reason I preordered was to pick up easily however this was not the case. The worst part of this whole experience was the bad customer service with no apology for the mistakes or the wait. I have ordered graduation leis from Lin's twice and the flowers have been flawless and in pristine condition. Each time I placed an order I printed out a list of the various lei I wanted to buy. The owner quoted the prices next to each lei. I simply snapped a photo with my phone and returned to pick up the leis. And she kept the paper. Keep in mind that due to the season, all lei will not be available. Also, I've found that there is a greater availability of lei earlier in the week then say, Friday. So if you want something special order it in advance. Typically I would list the lei and the price I paid for each lei but remember flowers are seasonal, dependent on weather, and supply and demand. But overall the pricing is fair EXCEPT... for my masters graduation my grandma wanted to buy me a double carnation lei. When I placed the order I asked to have a gardenia tied on. The owner said it would cost an additional $6 (on top of the $60 double carnation lei). I thought that was pretty outrageous for one flower. I asked how much for a bunch? She said $15. We went back and forth, back and forth and finally I asked, what if I buy the bunch for $15 and you tie one on and she said fine! Ugh!!! read more

It was LAST minute! I needed 2 lei for a prom next weekend in Tacoma, Washington. Started at the top of Maunakea St, worked my way down, and the last lei shop was Lin's. Brother at the door was SO ACCOMODATING, was patient with me because now I am forced to make an executive decision on what to get, but still had to confer with the recipient (who, by the way, never answer the phone). I have to say I buy Lots of leis throughout the year from Lin's lei shop. If you need a lei for a special occasion or if you want to pick from a variety of leis this is the place to go. I don't know if the main woman that works there is Lin, but the main woman is a PRO! She knows her leis and can give you the best advice about which to buy if the weather is hot, someone doesn't like fragrances or which look good on men. The selection at Lin's is unbeatable. The prices are reasonable too. Sure leis are made from flowers in your backyard, but come on now are you going to sit there and sting them together? After you buy the needle, that cost around $5 at Ben Franklin, then figure out how to string it together from a YouTube video that you have to watch over and over, isn't it just worth it to pay $20 for a beautiful lei?
