When I was planning my wedding, I knew I wanted to honor my and my husband's roots with a traditional Lion Dance. WIth some research, I've found Lion Dance Me to be the best option based on value and experience. It was pretty easy to book with them. They provided a detailed list of packages and links to their past performances for reference. They were also very thorough in making sure that your venue space would have enough room for their performers to safely move around. We had a slight hiccup regarding our venue space since there were some ceiling beams that got in the way, but Norman and his team quickly resolved the issue and recommended alternative performances that would still please the crowd (and us, obviously lol). We ended up with the Year of the Dragon Triple Play performance with LED lions and the mix track from their AGT performance. I kept it a secret from most of the wedding party and the guests thoroughly enjoyed it! The group was so professional and entertaining. I had so many guests come up to me afterward telling me how it was so fun and asked which group I booked with. It was really hard to follow up with our first dance after their exhilarating performance! Highly recommend booking Lion Dance Me for your future event.

What a fabulous performance! I wanted to share the beauty and grace of a Lion Dance with my sons' elementary school and Lion Dance Me came through. Parents and students are still talking about it a week later. It brought a lot of joy to the kids and I hope to make it a yearly tradition.

Wowowow, incredibly talent young people! We had them for our January wedding and were blown away by how amazing they were. I grew up watching lion dances (especially at weddings, I was pretty ambivalent about it). But decided to hire it since it's tradition. So glad we did because they were so so good. It was a breeze working with Norman/Josh, everything was so straightforward and they were accommodating of the arrival time. Highly recommended!

We hired Lion Dance Me to surprise guests at our wedding in Napa Valley and they did not disappoint! Their performance was incredible and definitely helped get the party started. They really worked the crowd. As a mixed race couple, we were especially delighted that all of our guests enjoyed the performance so much! All of our guests were so impressed by their dancing skills and by their light up lion suits! It was so wonderful to see the families for both the bride and groom get up from their seats to give the lions money! We have absolutely no regrets in hiring them as they made our wedding day so special.

LED Lions are the BOMB! Super late review, but finally getting to this. After searching through the reviews on yelp we settled with Lion Dance Me and worked with Norman. Norman is great with communication and was professional and on point with everything. We found out that Lion Dance Me is comprised of local kids learning the art of lion dancing after school - very cool. These guys and gals are skilled! They went above and beyond by bringing a huge team and timed everything perfectly from arriving at the venue and performing a brilliant act. We had guests raving about the performance even months down the road. Thank you Lion Dance Me for making our special day so memorable!

Booking Lion Dance Me was one of the best decisions that we made for our wedding celebration! It was such a treat for us and our guests. Working with Norman, Josh, and the entire team was seamless. They were incredibly professional and responsive and made our wedding day extra special. We were awed by the quality and length of the performance and had so much fun with them. Would highly recommend Lion Dance Me for any celebration!

Norman and his team performed at our wedding on 4/20/19 at the Westin St. Francis in SF. The performance was definitely the highlight of our wedding! Our friends and family were so impressed they couldn't stop giving us compliments! Additionally, Norman was incredibly responsive to my questions and concerns. He was able to send me the contract the same day I reached out to him! We couldn't be happier with deciding to hire Lion Dance Me for our wedding day! Now we are just looking for another event to hire them for!

Our guests loves Lion Dance Me!

We first saw Lion Dance Me at a friend's wedding and knew right away that we wanted to hire them for our wedding, Because our venue was an outdoor venue in the middle of a neighborhood and also had other weddings going on at the same time, we were not allowed to have loud drums and cymbals, which is such a critical part for Lion Dancing! This bummed me out, but Norman said that would be no problem and that they could do it to pre-recorded music and even gave us suggestions on when the best time to do it. We decided that after the mother-son dance that the music would then transition into traditional lion dance music and then into open dance floor for everyone and the lions would hype everyone up, and it worked out so well! I was so worried that the drum recording wouldn't be as good but I was wrong! All of our guests were so impressed and had so much fun. Also highly recommend paying the extra amount and getting the LED Lions!

We started off at our local USSD dojo location in San Anselmo, which closed shortly after the start of the pandemic, and it led us to the SF location. I've seen my son grow confident, dedicated, and disciplined, by being a part of USSD. USSD SF has adapted to the pandemic by offering a combination of zoom classes and in-person classes, which works for us, since my son attends class virtually during the week, and goes in-person on Saturdays. A testament to Sensei and the bond between the team is seeing students grow up, go off the college, and come back to visit on school breaks. USSD SF also offers additional activities, such as ninja nights, summer camps, and competitions in southern CA. The location on Fillmore offers plenty for parents to do while kids are in class - there are a variety of eateries and shops within walking distance, and Japantown is only a couple of blocks away. Parking is metered right in front of the dojo, though you can drive a block or two to try to find non-metered parking.

I'm half Filipino, and so when I saw a poster for Synergy Self Defense, which included Filipino Martial Arts and Kali (fighting with Rattan sticks), I thought it would be a good way to teach my son about one aspect of Filipino culture as well as respect for fighting with sticks and other weapons. When I took him the first day, Shermie, the instructor, talked me into taking the class with him. Shermie and her assistant were excellent at explaining the basics of Kali and Escrima to us. She amazed us with her expertise and ability to break down complex moves into simple steps that we could follow. We learned about the 12 angles of attack, corresponding blocks and coordinating footwork. We learned how to fight with different types of weapons, such as one stick, two sticks, one knife, two knives, open hand, etc. We learned several routines and were able to flow through them over and over which helped teach muscle memory. We also learned what to do in a real fight or real self defense (vs. practice fighting) and how to alter moves to be effective for your size. She taught us step by step, building each week so we could easily do many routines together. I really enjoyed the stick fighting - the rhythm of hitting the sticks together in various routines was fun and taught us how to respond to various angles of attack. My son enjoyed the hand to hand combat and enjoyed learning how to fight against people bigger than himself. Unfortunately, we had to take a break from class since we had to move away for a couple years, but when we come back, we'll start up again. We highly recommend this class to anyone who wants to learn about Filipino Marital Arts, how to protect themselves, get some exercise and have some fun. Shermie is very good teaching the techniques of Kali, Escrima and Self Defense in a calm, personalized, atmosphere.
