This company is a SCAM! 6 months ago I was just looking for a furnace repair. They talked us into 2 new furnaces and a new A/C. We thought why not, because it would be the last time we would ever need it. We paid over $21,000, with all... of the promises in the world. 6 months later nothing works!! No Heat No A/C. I paid $369.00 for them to look at, they found the problem that should a very easy fix, at $1,734.15. It was never installed right in the first time. Two years ago, I had a hot water heater installed by Lion. It was inspected and approved by lion after the installation a couple months ago. I had the hot water heater flushed. The rep that flushed it noticed it was missing the required shut off. He wanted to charge $500! Then he called his manager. he got it down to $250 but I HAD ALREAFY PAID FOR IT ONCE. We called them when we couldn't get the furnace to ignight. This is winter and the house cold. They checked it and said the ignighter was burned out needing replacement. The part was replaced and then they tested the carbon monoxide level telling us the furnace was so old, 35 yr, that it needed replaced. They hurried a project manager out to the home to go over our needs. Then they pressured us to make an instant decision and sign a contract. We asked for a breakdown of what the 2 furnaces offered to be emailed to us so we could give them a decision in 24 hr. They never sent the info. When deciding how to spend $10-12 thousand dollars we wanted to be able to talk it over. They charged us $450 for an ignighter we found on Amazon for $30. Also $29 for the same day visit and more for the labor. Billed $570 for the visit and part. Fool me once..... Do business with them at your peril. We had Lions Home Service come out earlier this year to check our air conditioning. Amazingly, 2 service people came & reported we had a part missing from our air conditioner. Our air conditioner still had the winter cover over it. There was no reason anything should have been missing. One service person stayed at our house in their truck while another one went after the part. The activity was highly suspicious to us - maybe pulling something because we're seniors. They did not fix what our issue was, but charged us for replacing the "missing" part over $100 and just made recommendations for some additional service. Our neighbor saw their truck in front of our house & let us know they would not use Lions after having tried them. They recommended a local, reliable company. The tech doesn't know what hes doing had to video call his boss and they think 1 of 2 issues. Originally told $29.99 for diagnosis. This tech thinking he was god wanted $500. For what? I could have googled that myself and trouble shot. Didn't have the part and told me they'd have to come back tomorrow. No offers of a space heater or attempting to call other guys for a part. The first time I called Lion for a repair, I was charged multiple service fees trying to get my furnace to work in the winter because the techs had to come out several times. It took several weeks and repeated calls to figure out what was wrong before I finally got a working furnace. I thought it might have just been a bad, one-off experience. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt - I know I screw up as much as the next guy. So when my AC stopped working, I thought I'd give Lion another chance. I was charged almost $5000 for an evaporator coil replacement and cleaning, with assurances that my AC would be fixed. It was not fixed. Either the techs did not properly test for leaks or their "repair" caused another pipe to break, because now I am told my condenser coil needs replacing, too. I was not offered a refund or perhaps a steep discount resolving the issue, as you might expect from a company that took $5000 from you and didn't fix anything. Instead, I was told I was given a great deal on the AC repair, and it would be another $1400 to get it to actually work! As you can imagine, I feel like I have been scammed out of thousands of dollars, and that I have given this company more than enough chances (and money) to redeem themselves. We were told it cost $29 to dispatch a technician to our house. We assumed that was to look at the problem but no. It was literally to only drive to our house. We had to then pay $168 to diagnose the problem. Michael was very polite but our total bill would have been $2,575 to fix two leaky faucets and two toilets that run on and off throughout the day. He did tell us it would be cheaper to just replace the toilets instead of doing a whole tank rebuild. Tank rebuild $750.00 (x2 toilets), $439 to replace a sink cartridge (x2 sinks). These prices are crazy in my opinion. The sink cartridge replacement piece is only $17 on Amazon. We appreciate the expertise and will now be fixing the problem on our own. It would have been nice for the company to be upfront about their dispatch fee/diagnostic fee from the beginning instead of misleading customers. We will not be recommending this company. It would be cheaper to fly my brother in law here from Illinois than pay these prices! read more

PLEASE BEWARE - I wish I would've taken the time to check reviews of this company first, but when you're in a situation of not having a working toilet, and they are on-site already, you tend to have to take their word. I hope this helps others steer clear of this company. Look at all the reviews (BBB, Yelp, etc.) and they are all very similar to my experience; overpriced, lazy work, etc. I am a small business owner as well and made an attempt to call the office and ask for a manager to call me, to give them a chance to explain and/or correct, but still have not received a call a week and a half later. I will be very fair and factual in the details and let you decide if it's the kind of company you want to do business with and happy to update the review if I am contacted by the company for a resolution. Service Date: 3/9/21 Issue: Toilet clogged/not flushing Summary: We had a bathroom with a toilet that wasn't flushing. Company came and attempted to pull toilet and plunge = $29 dispatch fee + $276 for the attempt. No resolution. Next - tried to snake/cable down the pipe = $398. No resolution. Next - used camera and found spot outside where pipe was blocked and was going to require digging up the pipe to determine blockage. This is where things get very expensive. They charged $4,979 do dig this one spot up. It was an all dirt area, no more than 3 feet deep, and a basic PVC pipe (septic system). In full transparency, they did quote me the amount prior to me agreeing to proceed, but as I mentioned above, when they have the people and equipment there already and it's an urgent situation, it's hard to send them home for time to get other quotes. I agreed to move forward at this point. Still not a full resolution. Next - After digging up this one spot they determined there was an additional 5 feet of pipe that was crushed. Unsure when this happened, but would require fixing as well. They quoted an additional $2,768 to repair. Again, an extremely basic dig of less than 3 feet deep, basic PVC pipe, and all dirt with no landscaping, building, concrete, etc. to dig around. After already spending over $5,000 to get to this point, and it already partially dug, I decided to let them continue to just get it done. This finally resolved our issue. The next day I contacted three other long-time reputable companies in the area and asked for a quote of this exact dig/repair. The lowest was $3,000 and the highest was $3,800. All FAR below the nearly $8,000 I paid for just an afternoon of work!! I was blown away at how much I was ripped off. Never being through this type of work before, and in the situation we were in without a working bathroom, I didn't even know a general range of these services; I wish I would've. After getting these other quotes I did ask for a manager to call me to review the charges and ensure they were correct and accurate, but have not received a call yet (week and a half later). I know they are going to point to the fact that they quote and get acceptance of charges prior to doing work, which is correct, but evaluating other quotes it's hard to believe they are truly 2X the price of their competition and I still think there had to be an error. I'm all for paying small premiums for better work, but no one should be paying prices like this for such basic services. I'm attaching pictures of the area to show that it was in fact a very short run of pipe, very very basic digging in a dirt area, and even very lazy and sloppy on the backfill/smoothing out to get it back to normal. read more

Our air conditioner recently stopped working. It's only 4 years old so we were quite surprised. It took us awhile to locate a quality business that had great ratings and reasonable rates. It went out on a blistering hot weekend. We contacted Lion. They were able to get someone at our house very quickly. We had the pleasure of working with Charity, Cody, and James. They were all prompt and the business sends you an email with the techs picture and estimated arrival time. They go the extra mile to check in with us as to how things went and next steps. Alexander was extremely helpful keeping us in the loop and progress made. We needed 3 techs due to several complex issues. Each individual was courteous, knowledgeable, and took their time trying to help locate our issues. They also explained their findings with us. The HVAC tech was very thorough checking fuses, and made sure the unit was okay. The electrician Cody came out and could not find any issues either. He spent several hours at our house checking and double checking. He stayed until the next tech could be dispatched. Again, everyone went above and beyond to help us quickly especially in the 96' weather. James came and found the problem quickly and complimented his colleagues on narrowing down the likely problems. It was an issue with our pvc pipes downstairs needing to be flushed and a few pieces replaced. They only charged us one fee to come out. My husband and are extremely happy with the work they did, professionalism, kindness, respect, and knowledge of their professional abilities. We highly recommend their services! read more

After working with me to find a time that worked for both of us they ended up rescheduling. They were to show up in a time span we agreed to. They finally called 2 hours into to time span to let me know they were not coming. The following week they called to reschedule again and when I told them I did not want to reschedule at this time they guy just hung up. Wow! He didn't even ask why! I guess it was pretty obvious to him that when your customer goes out of the way to accommodate you and waits around for a no-show you should not expect them to reschedule without some explanation and commitment to be there. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Please look at the YELP or BBB complaints, they are much more akin to what I experienced. They are certainly manipulating the Google reviews. I hired Lion to do a simple cleaning/certifying of our HVAC units as part of a sale. I was initially quoted $119, and I verified no less than 3 times with the customer service rep that the price would include cleaning and testing. When our tech showed up, he said we were misquoted and the charge for cleaning and testing would be about $450, as it was part of their "maintenance" package. They very reluctantly cut us a "deal" for just over $300. Not only was zero cleaning done, the tech did not perform a single action that could be classified as "maintenance." What we got was a diagnostic and estimate for repairs and replacement. I called to complain twice before someone finally got back to me. I was told that the tech didn't perform the cleaning because it may have damaged the unit, which was clearly a lie because the tech never told me that and actually gave me a quote to perform the AC coil cleaning, $470 (what a deal!). The rep then told me that a simple cleaning was done, but not the deep clean that I was expecting. I asked that my invoice be revised to reflect that, but was quickly blocked. Yes, they actually blocked my number after repeatedly misrepresenting both the price and work. I was shocked. I filed a complaint with the BBB, of which I discovered there are many. Hopefully they do the right thing and just give me a refund, but I won't hold my breath. Again, they are clearly manipulating their reviews on Google. Customers do your research! read more

I wish I could give negative stars, this company is awful. I had a guy come out and do a quote on a tankless water heater. A couple of hours later I received two quotes, which was a nice turnaround time. I have quotes from 5 other local companies, and Lion Home Service was nearly double the price of all the others. Some of the nonsense in the quote: A 240V outlet - no idea why, it's a gas water heater A 6 year warranty on the heat exchanger and other parts, even though the product comes with a 15 year heat exchanger warranty and 5 years on other parts. And what did they want for installing this Navien NPE-240A2 water heater, which goes for less than $2000? The low, low price of $9100!! If I wanted to push the warranty to 8 years, it drove the total price to almost $12,000!!!!! For a water heater that costs less than $2000!!! I sent them an email telling them how awful their prices were, and that they appeared to be trying to selling me things I didn't need - like a 240V outlet and a warranty that was worse than the manufacturer's warranty. Their operations manager, Karen, called me. To summarize the conversation - she said I was getting really nice discounts (they give a % off if you buy into their Total Care Club, which was added to the quote without any mention of it from the sales guy), to which I said of course I am, your prices are so high that a % discount will look like a lot, but it's still a rip off. She said, these are their prices and they have many happy customers. I would guess this company's reputation will catch up to them, but I'm sure they'll grift every mark they can until that day. I now tell this story whenever home improvements come up in conversation, and I notified all of my neighbors and family not to bother with Lion. read more

I was a customer of Poudre Valley Air for over 35 years. They were one of the best HVAC companies in Ft. Collins, and I always had good service from them. I'm May of 2023, they installed a new Trane heat pump and air handler at my house. My old Trane system was 21 years old and not very efficient any more. They did an excellent job on the new installation, and I couldn't be happier. I then purchased a maintenance contract for 2 tune-ups. They came and did the first tune-up last fall. Then last winter I found out that they sold out to Lion Home Service. I was devastated. I knew of Lion's reputation, and it wasn't good. This spring, Karen from Lion called me to schedule my second tune-up. Several days before they were to come, they cancelled. They said they didn't have enough techs. So they scheduled a second time to come out. They ended up cancelling again for the same reason. So I scheduled a third time. But I had to cancel because my wife was in the hospital. So I called the manager at PVA that I worked with when I bought my new system, and she knew my frustration with Lion because she knew their reputation,too. She told me she would refund the cost of my second tune-up, because I didn't want anything to do with Lion Home Service anymore. The next week I got a check in the mail from PVA. I am so sad that PVA sold out to this company. read more

BEWARE!!! DO NOT CONTACT FOR WORK! I requested an electrical Panel replacement and was told this would include a permit and inspection. I had this replaced to be compliant with current regulations and fire safety. They did not apply for a permit or inspection. Once I paid for the service they told me I had to get it inspected. They continue to give me the runaround. My mistake for trusting they would do what they said. Now I have to get a permit after the fact and get the inspection myself. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY MONEY!!!!! Edit: Found out they do not have a license to work on Electrical Systems in the City of Fort Collins because they do not have Liability Insurance or License. I was told that the permit was taken care of and the inspector would contact me. GET PROOF before they lie to you as they did me. read more

WORST COMPANY EVER!!!!! My saga with this bullshit service and company began in September 2022. My AC was freezing because my blower with my current furnace was too small. So, there was so much damage to my coil in the furnace from freezing and thawing that it rusted out. Also with freezing at the A/C there were rust issues too. Shit, right?! So they put in a new A/C unit and furnace with a larger blower. I'm sure I'm forgetting somethings about this whole shit show, it is seriously hard for me to deal with. It took a week and half to get everything put in and "running". Because of all the issues I was dealing with with this company they did "Throw in the new furnace for free". Positive it was the cheapest they could find. Have them back out here and there for issues still going on. It kept making a grinding sound and some other things. Can't remember all of the details right now. Come November and cold weather. The furnace goes OUT!!!! IT WAS OUT FOR 5 DAYS!!!! Lots of techs visit (THE TECHS ARE AMAZING!!!!) no one knows how to fix it. Guess what happens?! They get ANOTHER, SAME BRAND FURNACE installed. It starts making the SAME grinding, clicking sound. The day after the install. Seriously. I'm done, I'm over it at this time. THEN, my furnace goes out again the week before last. The tech comes out, checks and cleans everything. Can't figure out the issue. It has gone out twice more now since this. I am obviously pissed at this point. Call to speak to a manager today. Call taker says they need to get all my information and have a manager call me back IN 24-48 HOURS!!!!! WTF is that "customer service"? read more

This company preys on elderly and tried to charge my older (83 & 85 yo) parents $26,000 for a new HVAC system last June, 2021. My mom naively gave them a check before any work was performed. We convinced her to cancel it and get another quote. She did. She went to bank, got it canceled- but then Lions convinced her another option was their $12,000 HVAC system. Then, painfully, my sweet trusting parents, living in 90 degree heat, agreed. (Ps, even their neighbor saw the Lion's van in front of their house and knocked on their front door and told them "DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!" Then TODAY! 9/8/22, workers named Cameron and Taylor came for hvac maintenance (in their "contract" from last June) and managed to convince them their water heater needed replaced and would cost $3,000. [water heaters at Home Depot are ~$500]. I'll spare you my failed attempts to try to reach the workers, via their customer service line, to stop work so they could explain the details of their service to me on behalf of my parents. They got paid and I'm beyond angry, being so far away from them (east coast) and not able to be there to help all the time in these situations is heart breaking. I've made three appointments for a consult about installing a home electric car charger. Each time I took off of work for it. The first two they cancelled because of staffing issues and emergency work they needed to do (I understand this, I'm unhappy with it, but I don't blame them, crap happens). The third time, I put in my appointment for the very beginning of the day (in the hopes that no emergencies would come up). The window was from 8-11am. I didn't get a call, or any other contact. I called them at 10:52 to inquire if there was an issue. They said they saw the appointment, and nothing that the phone agent knew was stopping them from making the appointment, and that she would request a call back with an eta. Then at 12:50, I call again, get the same response. It's now 2:30, and at this point I'm not sure if they showed up if I'd even want them performing the work. read more

We purchased a state of the art furnace, air conditioner, full house humidifier, and duct sealing from Lion Home Service the last quarter of 2020. This review is really about the duct sealing. First, some background. The other items were installed before thanksgiving 2020, but not without time delays. The people who did the install were wonderful but there were issues with the humidifier. It took a year and repeated visits by electricians before Lion's supplier in Denver finally agreed to send a different part as everything they suggested to Lion didn't work. The new part worked beautifully. Lion can't be blamed for a lousy part. We have had no problems since with any of the work Lion did on those three items. We find Lion's inspectors and electricians to be knowledgeable and professional. Now, for the duct work. The machine used to seal and test the duct work broke down toward the end of the job (2020). The young men who did the work said they were 90% done. They said they'd be back in a couple of weeks after the machine was fixed. Supply chain issues got in the way of that timeline. We weren't upset about that as Covid was causing delays everywhere on everything. I would call and leave messages. I was given assurances the message would get back to the duct work team. When the semiannual inspections were done I would ask about the duct work and, again, I was told the information would be passed on to the appropriate people. Months stretched into over two years. Finally, a few days ago I set aside a 4 hour block of time for them to come finish the job. It was a no show. I got a call afterwards and another 4 hour time block was set aside for today. Again, NO SHOW. Lion should do two things: first, don't sell a product you can't complete; second, reimburse us $500. That is the %10 of the amount we paid to have the duct work sealed. More than two years for an unfinished job is too long. read more
