Everything about this place, from the location to the customer service is amazing! I stayed here for 3 nights because it was ski-in ski-out. The location was incredible. As soon as you exit the front doors, you walk about 10 steps to a hallway that takes you to the complimentary ski valet, where they also have hot cocoa and cookies set out. About 100 feet straight ahead is ticketing and the gondola. The second day, our friend decided to come up and meet us. My boyfriend called up to check the price to upgrade to a room with a pull out couch for our friend and because there was a leak in our toilet, they gave us an upgrade to an incredible 1 bedroom with a fireplace, full kitchen and outdoor access to the pool and hot tubs. The staff was very friendly and we were greeted and asked how everything was going every time we left and entered. We will definitely be staying here again! read more

Absolute horrendous experience staying here...room wasn't clean (like at all!) Front desk couldn't care less. Apparently no manager on duty. I didn't realize is was part of Vacasa until it was too late. Customer service is terrible. I don't know where Vacasa finds their employees but everyone seems cut from the same cloth. I realize that they use this Vail place for skiing and such in the winter, but I can't fathom how the summer is the "off-season" here. It is absolutely gorgeous on this mountain in the summertime. Oh, and Lion Square Lodge is an excellent place to stay. Rooms are a bit more affordable in the summer, and they are all clean and comfortable with a little bit of character. There's a beautiful pool with a corresponding hot tub, and both have the mountain/gondola backdrop. Sure, the phone in our room didn't work, but I carry one in my pocket so life went on without a hitch. read more

We are calling this our "in spite of" trip. In spite of the management (whether it's Lion Square or Vacasa), we managed a good get away. We arrived on a Thurs (15th) at about 3 to check in. Room seemed nice but strange that a plunger was in the bathroom. Fast forward to Friday and sewage is backing up. Waited around for a few hours. No fix. Maintenance said we would move. Sit for another hour. Some young man (20 maybe) shows us to tell us we are moving. No idea where- bc no one called us or told us what was happening. Moved 2 doors down. Blinds fell off and fire place doesn't work. No apology, no contact until 17th. Barrage of email your stay is cancelled, saying you owe money, you can choose your room (we were never given the option). 10 emails and a phone message to call. Call and it is answered by someone who is quite groggy, grouchy and yelling at his kids. Still no one bothers to say we are sorry. On Father's Day, the cleaning crew knocks at 7:55 AM to ask if we want our room cleaned. I had to sign a card declining. We were not even dressed at this point. House keeping seems shocked by this. When checking out on the 19th, the lady at the desk gets a little flappy when we asked to review charges. Young man (same one) whispers they are the ones we put in 154. Told all charges are not handled there so cannot review. We love Vail and despite the lack of responsiveness, lack of acknowledgment, and lack of communication we enjoyed our stay. Will go back to Vail, not to Lion Square though. If you opt to go, check for a plunger before you decide to stay read more

*UPDATE* the price went up and service went down! Apparently check out is now 10am, used to be 11am and if you wake up by 8am, you're spending all of your time packing and not even enough time for breakfast. We were denied our first late check out ever- they wouldn't even give us 30 minutes extra. Makes it difficult to get out that early when they were out of loading carts. I asked the front desk lady for a pool key card since check out was so early. She said to keep using my room key. In the past, that had never been the case, and unfortunately she gave me bad information as the key did NOT work for the pool! She was probably just being lazy as I noticed she was on her phone. Seriously considering booking another place for our trip next year. Disappointing!!! For $350 a night, I expected more! read more

The location is phenomenal. Walk to the lift, ski school, shops and restaurants. The first room we were in had a really bad pullout sleeping sofa. Management brought 2 cots but they were too big for the room and had to move us to a different room. That meant repacking 3 kids and unpacking at the new room. But, we're grateful for the extra queen bed instead of a sleeper sofa with spring mattress. read more

The customer service at this hotel is outstanding. They should be a case study for all other hotels, as I was completely blown away within 12 hours of my stay of their customer service. First, I was able to check in two hours early. I was fully prepared to be told no, but felt it did not hurt to ask. They made it possible. When I thought that I might not be able to find a parking spot, they reassured me of other places that they would be willing to move my car. After all the discussion, a spot was made open in front of the hotel (which I jumped on). Still, blown away within less than 30 minutes of checking in. Later that evening, I realized I forgot my brush at home. The front desk stepped into action showing me my options. Nothing worked, sadly. I knew I would have to drive to City Market, but stressed out about my parking spot (it was a sweet spot in front of my room). The front desk made sure that spot was saved! Wow. Great customer service. I will admit, my room is a little odd in the layout due to being part of a bigger condo that is split up. I find it weird, but it is still nice. Plus, with this type of customer service, I would probably sleep outside on a cot. As an individual that visits Vail a lot, the location is amazing in both the summer and winter. Check this place out, book for the location, and stay again for the customer service. read more

Lodge at Lionshead is my hotel "soulmate." I love this place. I was fortunate enough to score a first-floor studio suite by the pool and it's absolutely gorgeous. The hotel is tastefully decorated and reasonable prices. It's right next to a walk and bike path, also the river. So wonderful and peaceful. I really love this place, it's perfect for a romantic getaway or with family and friends. You will not be disappointed. Also, great cell and internet reception! read more

Lion Square is a large Condo Complex that I believe is managed and rented out by Wyndham or by the individual owners. There are a number of floor plans to choose from and I think they all have kitchens, living rooms etc. Pros: Right next to Lionshead Gondola - 50 yards - ski to your unit! Outdoor Pool and Hot Tub Well stocked units: Kitchens with microwaves, refrigerators, dishes, TVs, dishes etc. Maid Service Ski Rental Concierge - from 10 AM Front Desk Maintenance Restaurant / Bar on site. Free shuttle to Vail Village or 15 minute walk. Doorman / Porter Cons: Unit 568: Horrible beds! You will sink about 6 inches - these mattresses are so soft and old - ZERO support. Maintenance said there was nothing they could do because the units are privately owned and it's up to the owner to address. So AVOID 568!!! read more

Was disappointed that the fine-dining restaurant on site was closed during the summer, but what else did I expect during the off season? This lodge features a good sized pool and 2 hot tubs. Having never been to Vail before my friend and I spent lots of time trying to pick a good spot to stay. We chose wisely! The Lion Square Lodge was fantastic for many reasons. It's literally 50 feet from the gondola that gets you up the Front Face ski area. The staff was really helpful for newbies like us and suggested solid restaurants and cool activities like snowmobiling - which they arranged. There's also a ski rental place in the hotel with a friendly crew and the outdoor hot tubs here have an amazing location with the mountain right in front of you. While the rooms facing the mountain are lovely, we opted to take the town view as we were on the mountain all day and were only in the room to sleep - saved big $ with that choice. The town area is great with lots of upscale stores and there's a bus to the original Vail town area every 10 minutes - it's a 5 minute bus ride and easy as can be. Hope to get back here in the summer! read more

A group of 7 of us were able to stay at these condos and it was awesome! We got there a little early around 1 pm and called to see if we could have early checkin and they were able to get our condo ready within an hour. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Checkin was super easy and they let us have two complimentary parking passes since we came in two cars. Normally parking in the neighboring garage is $50 per night. The condo was well appointed with everything available to cook if you desired in the kitchen. Two full size beds in the loft with a bunk bed in the 2nd floor bedroom and a queen in the main floor master and 2 full baths. The beds were comfy and there were multiple balconies to hang out and grab fresh air. Also the fireplace made the condo nice a cozy. When we woke up, we were pleasantly surprised to walk out and the Eagle Bahn gondola was within walking distance. It is so convenient especially if you're a skier with ski boots. We had a full day of skiing/snowboarding and then we find out another nice surprise in that they had a ski valet service to drop off and pick up your skis/board in the morning. They had two heated hot tubs and a heated pool that we used every day after a full day of skiing. They were very spacious and hot so we didn't feel cold at all while we were in them. They also had fresh coffee and hot chocolate during most times of the day and night plus sometimes some warm fresh baked chocolate chip cookies which were yummy! They even have a free shuttle to take you in and out of the main Vail village up until about 10 pm at night. All in all a really nice place to stay for the money. It was the heart of ski season and we picked the perfect place to stay and have a good time. read more

We stayed at the Lion Square Lodge in July 2013. The place was under major renovation and this was not disclosed when we made our reservation. Our room was large, but quite dated. Guess our room had not been renovated yet. The room was also hot, no AC, and smelled stale. Once the renovations are complete, this will probably be a good place to stay. Until then, stay somewhere else. read more

Great location.. Employees were helpful and friendly. Check the weather in Vail if you are traveling there in summer. No AIr Conditioning! No ceiling fans! So if Vail is 85 degrees.... I'm happy with our stay. First time in Vail and it was in walking distance of multiple places. Really enjoyed the sauna and hot tubs. They had the pool open too. We found a"red box" type movie rental on the first floor where it have you free rentals of new releases! Free WiFi and comfy robes. Highly recommend. read more

They are in the process of remodeling their buildings. We stayed in the south building which is scheduled for remodel next year (2016).

It was a beautiful lodge with amazing views, however the customer service was absolutely horrible. The people at the desk were rude and with held information to make our stay better. They didn't give us a map when we asked for directions, just said "up that way". I don't think I'd come back here and say in the lodge. read more

My Property was damaged due to negligence. I bought a new snowboard 2 days ago and after a day of use, I checked my brand new snowboard to the hotel's ski-valet service. To my surprise I came back for my board 2 days later and found my board scratched and the bindings had been moved, somebody had definitely used my board the day before without my permission and had damaged it. When you turn in your skis to the valet they give you a ticket with a number, however with snowboards no tickets are given, meaning any person, hotel guest or not, can just walk up to the rack and take any snowboard. When notifying the manager about this issue he only offered a tune up for my board($40) which would not repair the superficial scratches found on my board, a board I paid $450 for 2 days ago. Needles to say, I noticed the bindings had been moved once I was at the top of the mountain, their negligence to control who is taking what snowboard could have caused me a trip to the hospital if I wouldn't have been able to control the board that had been set up the other way around without my permission. read more

We had our wedding and reception at the Lion Square Lodge in August of 2019 and couldn't have been happier with how everything turned out. Many of our guests were in from out of town and took a mini-vacation to enjoy all that Vail has to offer. Most stayed right at the Lion Square Lodge and loved the location to the villages. Sarah and Debbie were fantastic to work with and very professional ensuring all of our requests were met and our guests were taken care of. They provided flexibility to use various areas of the property: we had our ceremony on the lawn, cocktail reception by the pool and dinner and dancing held indoors in a room overlooking the lawn and Vail mountain. Our guests couldn't stop talking about how wonderful the food was for our reception and how they loved that everything was all in the same spot. Thank you again for all the help before and after the wedding to make sure we had a beautiful day! read more

Things I like: I have been staying here since 2011 and this place gets 4 stars purely because of the location and the fact that they offer free trips to the grocery store. All the rooms have microwaves and refrigerators, and as someone with a special diet, it's so nice to be able to go to the store and stock up without having to worry about renting a car. This place is literally right outside of the gondola, so it's wonderful not to have to schlep your skis all over the place. The rooms are nice, the views are gorgeous, and there is free wifi (which was surprisingly fast). They partner with Charter Sports who have always provided me with amazing service. The valets, bell hops, and drivers, are all really nice, enthusiastic, hardworking guys; they have always gone out of their way to provide me with excellent service and treated me with great kindness. Things I don't like: That said, I have to admit, I've never been crazy about the staff at the front desk or the concierge. While they are ok, they just don't seem very genuine and make mistakes every once in a while. Furthermore, when there have been problems caused on the hotel's end, the front desk doesn't always make the effort to rectify it; the valets on the other hand, always volunteer to correct the hotel errors (note: not the manager). Lastly, this was an exceptionally warm spring, and the room was pretty warm (they do not have A/C or fans). I had to leave the patio door open for a few hours so my room could cool down. I didn't find this to be much of a problem, but I'm not sure how people deal with it in the summer. The location and convenience make it worthwhile for me year after year. They do have a nice pool, jacuzzis, and sauna as well. There are often deals floating around online offering 20-25% off. If you don't find one, call to reserve and ask them - I have never not been given the "discount". read more

We have stayed at Lion Square Lodge many times over the years. In the last few years we have found it harder and harder to make a reservation. You have to wait until the owners send in when they want their units and then the good condos fill up immediately. We found a two bedroom, three bath plus loft in the North Building for $9,572.18 for seven nights. We requested two queen beds in the loft. In the past, we had stayed in a one bedroom plus loft in the South Building. It was a large bedroom downstairs and a huge room with two queen beds and a bath upstairs. The North building was much further away than we were led to believe. Upon arrival, we learned that a two bedroom with a loft was really one bedroom downstairs, one tiny, dark bedroom upstairs and a small hallway with bunk bed. Access to upstairs was only by a rickety circular staircase. The bath upstairs was a small compartment with a toilet and shower only (we were traveling with a three year old and a disabled adult). There was no privacy or storage space for the adults in the "Loft" (hallway). We had to insist that the staff put baby gates on the circular stairway for the protection of the three-year-old. We feel we were deceived by the reservation agent. We strongly recommend that you ask as many questions as possible if you decide to book at this resort Don't assume anything! read more
