The Charter is in a good size condo building so it took a while figuring out the layout.  We had a two bedroom condo with view of the mountains, nicely decorated, although the living/dining/kitchen area is not the most spacious - a bit tight with 4 people sharing.  However one good thing is both bedrooms are nice - most two bedrooms condos tend to favor the master bedroom but here the second bedroom has two comfortable double beds instead of tiny twins (although the master does have glass doors opening directly onto the balcony). Aside from the full kitchen there is also a washer and dryer, a wood burning fireplace.   Only thing is the lighting is rather old fashioned and dim. Bathroom area has 2 sinks outside the toilet/shower room and a walk-in closet. The foyer is a bit tight - it basically can't quite accommodate all the gears for four people. Amenities are good - spa with well equipped gym, narrow but long indoor swimming pool for lap swimmers (large outdoor pool too but closed in winter) and 3 hot tubs (one not in use when we were there).  One thing to note - pool and hot tubs have a ton of chlorine in them - steam from the hot tubs will make your eyes sting and if swimming laps goggled are a must or you'd suffer unpleasant vision problems afterwards - it's alarming when everything you see has a halo for hours. Good common areas - seating in both the lobby and lower lobby as well as at various points along the hallways. The Charter is not at slope side or in the BC village.  It's a 5-10 minute walk to the village with shops and restaurants, Centennial/Strawberry or you can take the free Charter shuttle running every 15-20 min. The backside of the building connects to a ski-way which leads to the Elkhorn lift - you just have to walk down 39 steps after exiting from the game room in LL. If you choose to ski back by way of the Ski-way opposite the Strawberry lift that's 39 steps you will need to climb up (it's not that bad).  There is also the Charter Ski-way that'll bring you back to just across the road from the front of the main entrance. Service seems to be good - we had a few minor problems and one phone call and someone always comes right away.  Housekeeping is about every three days but again if you need anything you can call anytime.  We didn't have any bathrobes in the condo when we arrived but they brought them as soon as we called. The restaurant in the building serves a daily buffet breakfast ($28), happy hour and dinner (except Mon-Tues When we were there). There is outdoor ski storage units both in the front and back of the condo. No individual ski locks but the units have doors that are locked at night. read more

Our room had definitely been recently updated, it was incredible. One of the nicest hotel rooms we'd ever stayed in with a wood-burning fireplace. Sleep quality was incredible and the space had many personal touches that made it livable. The hotel has great amenities including a Peloton bike, sauna/steam rooms, and indoor/outdoor pools and hot tubs. The hotel is ski-in-ish and for getting up to the resort you can use the app or the personal shuttle unique to this hotel. Hotel layout is extremely confusing, other guests seemed to be borderline abusive toward staff. No other complaints. read more

It's clear that The Charter and East West Hospitality don't mind lying to their customers, which I am sure is reflected in many of their business practices. If you have the choice to stay here or other locations in the area, don't stay here. The VRBO listing indicated that parking is available, but it does not mention that parking costs $40 a day per car. We had two cars between the three of us. So the actual price ended up being 15% higher than was advertised. Had I known this at the time of booking, I would have booked somewhere else, since there were plenty of other reasonably priced options in the area. I called the Charter management to ask about this, they simply said "it's in the email we sent you after you already booked". They were right - it was in the email buried at the bottom in the "complimentary amenities" section that I received after entering my credit card and completing my reservation. The customer service agent I talked to wasn't concerned. She told me I could have read that email and cancelled the reservation, which is the definition of bait-and-switch. The Charter, and their management company East West Hospitality, are dishonest hosts. Avoid them if you can. read more

We have stayed at The Charter every summer for the past 20 years. We used to LOVE it here. The quality has steadily gone down over the years. This year our stay was unacceptable. The construction was a lot to endure and all amenities were not available. We were never warned about the inconveniences the construction would create when booking. We booked 3 condos total for 9 nights each. Thousands and thousands of dollars to rent. When bringing up our concerns to the front desk, we received many 'Im Sorry' comments, but not much follow through to make things right. They did give us a very small refund for our hassles, but it was too little too late. I believe our years of staying here are over. Would never ever recommend this business! read more

This was our first time staying here and we really enjoyed it. The workers are incredibly nice and helpful and really try to accommodate all of your needs. Our room was so nice and very spacious. The condo was up to date with everything but the washer and dryer, which were very old. Our biggest complaint is that the bed was terribly hard and uncomfortable to sleep on. However every unit is different. The indoor pool and hot tub were a huge plus because every other hotel has outdoor hot tubs only. We really enjoyed this. The restaurant in the hotel, Black Diamond Bistro, was delicious and not extremely expensive for being in Beaver Creek Village. They seated us right away without a reservation and we were served pretty quickly. Another problem is that their elevator was broken during our entire stay which was inconvenient. They allowed us to use their service elevator, but you would think that fixing the elevator would be a priority. read more

Second night at this property with no hot water. Advised front desk in the morning about the water and said they would look into it. This evening still no hot water. They sent maintenance to the room who told me they had a broken hot water heater and that the one of the two that fed my room was shared with a larger 4 bedroom unit and that they must have used all the hot water and wait a couple hours and try again. This was at 10pm. The best they would offer is to use the shower at the hotel's spa. Not acceptable!! In addition to this the tv is broken. read more

First time we stayed here and we absolutely loved it! The staff was friendly and super helpful! We would take the shuttle to the village which was like 2 mins away! We went to the bar one night and bartender was very nice, drinks were awesome! We will be definitely coming back! read more

Stayed here with her majesty for a ski trip over Christmas break and cannot say enough good things. Beautiful accommodations within a 5 minute walk of the lifts with every amenity you might like including one of the better outdoor hot tub setups I have seen. Onsite restaurant is only so so but there are so many excellent restaurants nearby that it does not really matter. Staff was friendly and helpful and the onsite ski store is very well setup and stocked with just about anything you might need. I read in another review that the place was overrun by obnoxious kids but we did not see that. Our read on the vibe was that it was a lot of couples of various ages coming for a romantic evening. I liked it so much that I am seriously considering buying a place. read more

The Charter Hotel is a large property which is fairly well located in the Beaver Creek area and has some amazing rooms. We have stayed in both the 2 and 3 bedroom condos on the property when traveling with our kids and found them very nicely decorated and stocked with every dish, pan and utensil you could want. On this past trip however, we were traveling as a couple and enjoyed a beautiful room with gorgeous woodwork, overstuffed bedding, a working fireplace and spectacular views from the deck. The staff was cheery and helpful throughout our stay. While the Charter is a short walk (or shuttle ride)from the center of Beaver Creek and the base of the Mountain, the savings are worth the walk in my mind. In winter you can ski in and ski out by utilizing the lower lift so enjoy. read more

The entire staff was wonderful from the valet, concierge to housekeeping. We stayed in one of the four bedroom suites with our extended family and other than the squeaky stairs and floors loved the place! The beds were tempurpedic and large with lots of pillows. What a treat! We took advantage of the outdoor pools and jacuzzis esp the hot one and had a great time. The creek was full and swishing by at a good clip. I loved hearing it from our room. The kids had a blast at the playground. It's a short wake up to the village for restaurants, shopping, gondola ride, a small store and entertainment. The shuttle took us to the ChopHouse for dinner which is a lovely plus! We all hope to return during the winter season as well. read more

We stayed here for a weekend in early October for my daughters soccer tournament. Our room was gorgeous and the beds are beyond amazing! The breakfast in the hotel was overpriced and not great, but typical for places we've been before. One of the valet was very unprofessional and rude to us and several other families. He parked our car where no one could find it and also left the lights on. When we went out in the morning no one could find our car, then when it was found, the battery was dead. The staff was great in handling the situation and they comp'd our breakfast (for 4). We were also overcharged for our room (the amount I was quoted which was also the amount on my receipt). I pointed it out and they refunded a portion of what they overcharged. I pointed it out again and they told me what a great deal I was getting on the room, and refunded the rest. Im still waiting for it to be deposited back into our acct. Apparently it takes a week? The hotel general manager apologized for our inconvenience and offered us a free night stay next time we were up that way. read more

We absolutely loved it here! We stayed over MLK weekend. Parking is complimentary, which is fabulous. Our room was great and included the comfy robes plus a complimentary bottle of red wine! We were able to ski over to the Elkhorn lift each day and walked into the village at night. This hotel was one of very few where I actually wanted to stay in the room instead of go out! There are 2 hot tubs outside and they were great. Both times I walked back to the hotel from the village and one of the Beaver Creek employees offered to carry my skis back for me. This was hands down the best room/condo we have ever rented! We stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bath with 3 beds. There was tons of room for all of us, including a great balcony that was a very peaceful location to wind down in the evening and a full kitchen with everything we could need. The whole place was incredibly clean! We made use of the washer and dryer after our ATV trip and it was great to not track all that dirt home. The game area and DVD rentals were great evening entertainment. We loved the location so much and just can't say enough nice things!! read more

Biking/hiking? Do NOT ask the concierge. The concierge could only give us a map, which was terrible since it was a re-purposed ski map with way too much detail yet lacked the chapel/water tower/fire station/stables, which were necessary for finding trails. I'm sure BC doesn't have awful hiking and biking but you wouldn't know it from our experience. The first day there we spent a lot of time just trying to find trails and mostly found roads. On day 2, we tossed the map and guessed and did much better. The Charter should get a usable map for their guests who want to hike or bike. Other than that, our stay was fine. There is a firepit with control next to hot tub control plus there is a lot to do here. We didn't like staying in a room owned by a family as the photos made me feel like I was intruding. Ask for a view of the pool and a room that isn't privately owned. read more

The Charter is located either a free shuttle ride our about a 2 minute walk away from the Village at Beaver Creek. We stayed for 10 days at the beginning of ski season, and were ready to move-in for the rest of the season! The condo has everything you would need to settle in while you're away from home. The kitchens are well-stocked (no tupperware though), the decor cozy, and there are even washers and dryers in the unit. Whether you're chilling in front of the fire after a hard day on the slopes, or just taking some time to relax and enjoy the mountains, it's a great vacation location. We also enjoyed the spa and pool/hottub area. There is even an outdoor fire pit where kids can roast marshmallows at night. The staff is extremely accommodating, fun and knowledgeable. I noticed that another reviewer said that the hotel was overrun with children. That wasn't our experience at all. When we stayed there, it was completely overrun with World Cup ski racers. OK, overrun isn't the correct word, but it was fun to stay in the same hotel as the gracious Italians and the Finns as the competed in the Birds of Prey races. This location is a great value if you are staying at Beaver Creek Village. It's definitely worth the small premium over sites down in the town of Avon. We're tagging it 'moderate' in the price range because it's moderate in the range of what you'll pay to ski at Beaver Creek, but an excellent value if you want to stay on-mountain. read more

We have stayed at the Charter for three spring breaks in a row. It's the best and easiest hotel for us as we travel with our kids. The service is great - onsite ski rentals at Charter Sports - and great hot tub for after skiing. There's even a fire pit there where the kids can roast smores. There is shuttle service to the town center and lifts if you don't want to walk (only a 3 minute or so walk) and Rob, who drives one of the Charter shuttles is the best! We were there for 6 days this season and he was consistently going above and beyond to help kids and families get their skis and get on and off the bus! Would highly recommend. read more

The condo was fairly updated. Real fireplaces are a plus. The cookies in the afternoon were just Oreos. This place can barely be considered ski in ski out. Maybe it was before other properties were placed between it and the mountain. It is not ski in ski out now. Breakfast is good. read more

The hotel itself is a beautiful, well-maintained building, and the rooms are very comfortable. However, the place is absolutely overrun by obnoxious children. We tried repeatedly to enjoy the spa -- going at different times, moving away to an empty hot tub -- only to have the experience ruined by yelling, screaming kids. I think they should have at least a couple of adults-only hours at their spa every day. Same problem with the very nice brunch, kids yelling across the dining room. The staff makes exactly no effort to stop this. We had exactly one meal at their Italian restaurant. All of our party agreed that the food was overseasoned and overcooked. I booked one overpriced massage, and I'm sorry I bothered. The masseur did some ghastly vibrating motion and was not receptive to feedback that this was not helpful; I was left feeling worse than when I lay down. Nobody in our party booked any more spa treatments after that. The Website gave out some misinformation regarding area activities. A sleigh ride we'd wanted to do was not available, and we signed up for a dogsled trip because the Website said it would go through Camp Hale and the Pando Valley. It took a completely different route. I was so glad when it was time to leave. read more

Nothing grabs you about this place. Everything is bland, from the rooms to the staff. For the area, the staff under performed and we didnt get what we ordered for dinner more than once. Hmmmm. The parking is inconvenient. Although I do understand they have limitations on footprint so they made due. It's not worth the money. read more
