Drive through is great, the staff is always friendly through the speaker and face to face when you arrive at the window. Lion's Choice is hands down the best roast beef sandwich you'll ever get in a fast food setting! So glad to be back in STL to enjoy all this goodness. The seasoning is indescribable. I always get well done with extra seasoning. I've never been a fan of the fries unless I get cheese sauce to dip them in so since I've been back I've been ordering salad and I like the bistro dressing. My only real complaint is that I wish the bun could hold up to the meaty goodness. I hate that it starts getting soggy before you even open it. But I wouldn't want the bread toasted either. These guys were busy for lunch on a Wednesday but they still delivered hot and fast food! I got their large roast beef combo meal and everything was delish. The fries were so hot and tasty and the sandwich was divine. The one issue was the meat was falling off the bun (a good problem to have). Gotta love all their sauce options and the au jus. Just wanted to say thanks so much for not being a good neighbor in the community. Your restaurant's gross negligence of not properly maintaining your grease traps. This caused (3) 5 gallon buckets of grease to be cleaned from the sewerlines by MSD. 13 homes on our street were affected by your incompetence. Our basements flooded with human feces mixed with grease on a lovely spring day. Our compete and utter shock to having our remodeled basement flooded and completely ruined. Having to deal with the utter horror of this nightmare that was no fault of our own. Records do not lie about your establishment being in noncompliance and contributed to this disaster. Your company should be held financially responsible for this disaster. read more

This is more about Lion's Choice in general rather than this particular location, though the staff seemed disinterested at best and several tables needed a good washing down rather than a quick wipe. Anyway, it's clear that they are not trying to compete on value. I don't mean the lack of a $1 menu or $5 lunch box, but just generally. I ordered the "King" roast beef sandwich combo. They also come in Original and Large, but I missed lunch and I'm hungry. My $9.49 plus tax gets me a sandwich I could hide entirely in my palms, a "side salad" and a large soft drink. They serve quality meat and have always been more expensive than other fast food, but this is ridiculous. And I get that it's difficult to make comparisons to other types of restaurants, but no matter how I try to define "better", I can think of places where I could do better. The side salad didn't help my mood. Almost entirely purple leafy lettuce, which looks like a lot but weighs maybe an ounce per bushel and feels like weeds in the mouth, with exactly two cherry tomatoes and one tiny, pale broccoli floret. When popping open the plastic container the single bit if broccoli and one of the cherry tomatoes rolled out, off the table and onto the floor. Oh, and after asking me whether I wanted croutons or crackers they failed to give me the crackers I asked for. And the restroom smells disgusting, though not as if it was just used (if you get my drift), just nasty. Sometimes it's the little things, sometimes the big things, and sometimes it's everything. Now please excuse me while I go find something to eat because I'm still hungry. Oh, good luck finding my King Meal photo, they have totally stacked the deck with their own pictures which don't even begin to look like what you'll actually get. I've had trouble twice going thru the drive thru at this location. This time, I asked for 3 roast beef sandwiches. 2 with Swiss cheese and one plain with a cup of cheddar. The employee, DT-OT, even read the order back but managed to screwing up. When I got home, I was missing the plain sandwich. When I pulled out the receipt, there were 2 sandwiches, both with Swiss cheese rang in. How do you read an order back to the customer but still get it wrong??? I normally do not eat fast food. Its bad for you and not a lot of healthy choices. However Lion's Choice is one of my husband's favorite establishments so I will go on occasion. You get to make your food the way you want it, so its as healthy for you as you can desire. Personally when I go, I get a roast beef on wheat or a ham sandwich on wheat. You get a good size portion of a drink and fries to go with your sandwich and they are superb with their fries. If you're in the mood for a sweet treat, this is also the place to stop for cheap small ice cream cones and it gives you that little sweet that you need. If you're from STL and someone asks for a recommendation, you'll probably hear them suggest LC - after all it is good! read more

They season their roast beef perfectly and it's not overcooked like nastyass Arby's rubbery roast beef! Would give 0 stars if I could. Love Lion's Choice. The Creve Coeur, Wildwood, Eureka, Ballwin and Fenton locations always have great food and service. Been going for decades with zero issues. This South County location is a disaster. If you go during a lunch rush or early in the day it's usually ok. We went tonight. The drive thru staff was very nice and made certain the correct items were in the bag. The food was beyond nasty. Gray thick sliced beef, I ordered medium rare.(it's supposed to be shaved) no seasoning- ordered extra seasoning, stale greasy fries- I specifically asked for fresh hot fries, cold hot dog and stale cones with the ice cream. Didn't occur to me to request the hot dog warm and a fresh cone. I don't know why the food at this location is always so bad because the other locations serve the food exactly as you would expect it to be and it's great. I have gotten sandwiches at this location with foreign objects in them and sandwiches that were drenched with some sort of clear liquid that was not au jus and could not be identified. Several times I have taken the food back and shown it to them or photographed it before throwing it away and they agree that it is not up to Lions Choice standards however they are mad at me for not just accepting it??? Their attitude is like " How dare you say anything about the fact we serve sub par garbage". PRO TIP: It's not the customers fault you serve disgusting food. Try learning to cook and serve it properly. The chubby girl manager is a rude illiterate loud mouth who yelled at me as soon as she picked up the phone and told me not to come back. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. Too big for her breeches in every way. I once returned a sandwich with a foreign object in it and the the skinny scraggly little hillbilly looking boy that manages at night practically through a new sandwich at me without any apology or concern for what the object was or how it got there. He was mas at ME for HIS mistake. The GM Mel is worthless and clearly should not be allowed to manage a houseplant. His solution is if you don't like eating their gray rubbery meat and cold stale greasy fries don't eat there. If you want your roast beef shaved med rare and fries to be hot fresh and on brand for Lion's Choice don't go to his branch. He does nothing to make improvements he just makes excuses for his inability to run the restaurant properly. I was at the Creve Coeur location the other day and had a wonderful dinner I told the cashier about some of my experiences at the South County location and they were shocked about the way we were treated. They wanted me to call the main office I told them I already had and apparently nobody cares. We never ask for free food or try to get anything for free in fact several times the manager offered us extra food. All we wanted was the food we ordered, properly prepared so that we could enjoy it. Isn't that why you go to a restaurant? We got tired of throwing the crap away a, wasting the money and having to go out again for more food. We stayed away for over a year even though it's the nearest one to our home and tried it again tonight in hopes it had improved. Nope. Lion's Choice is like no other fast food I've ever encountered. We generally never go to fast food restaurants, but Lion's Choice is a must-go every time I go home to StL, and my husband had grown to love it as well. The quality of ingredients they use is what sets them apart from other fast food - medium rare roast beef and the best fast food fries by a long shot. If you're in the area and need a quick meal, try the roast beef and you will not be disappointed, I promise. And finish your meal off with a 14 cent ice cream cone. Seriously. Cheap. Good. Decent sized portions. Right next door to my dealership....Sold! I generally only stop in here for the frozen custard. To be exact....a large chocolate dipped cone, upside down, in a cup. IMO, it's better than what I've received from the DQ across the road, and the prices aren't sky high for a fast food joint.
