Amazing experience, beautiful animals, and a wonderful cause. We started with a short video explaining the passion and mission behind the sanctuary...followed by a guided tour of each enclosure. They shared info about every animal like their history, previous circumstances, and the care they now receive. After the guided tour, guests are free to explore the grounds and stay as long as they like. Although our tickets were for 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., we were welcome to remain and enjoy the sanctuary for the rest of the day. There is plenty of parking, and all of the animals appeared well cared for, happy, and relaxed. The sanctuary also offers annual memberships, and visitors can apply the cost of their day pass toward a yearly pass for an additional $55. For guests who need assistance getting around, staff provide transportation around the property in a golf cart-style vehicle. You can also host personal and work events, including gender reveals, and even stay overnight in one of the on-property villas, which accommodate up to four guests. Amazing tour of the sanctuary. They are hands off sanctuary dedicated to helping animals. There tour is about 2.5 hours long and then your allowed to walk around the premise if you want afterwards. You get to learn about the different animals and see them get fed. You can also add on to feed one of the animals. I did the tiger feed and it was definitely a unique experience. The animals are saved from neglect and provided a forever home at the sanctuary. All the workers were so nice. Great private intimate tour. We had 6 people in our group. You get to see grizzly bears, black bears, a couple tigers, ligers, and more. I would bring sunblock and comfortable shoes for walking around. I booked the behind the scenes tour for 2. This is not the basic one, this is the one that's $530. It's a donation that goes towards the animals. It's a 2 hr experience. You watch a short video and two volunteers take you around to all of the animals. We fed some tigers and bears. The lion was too tired to come over, it was very hot that day. Yes, they do have lions. The animals do not stay in small, cramped cages just to clarify. They also have a liger, one of the highlights. This tour was worth it because some of those big groups take too long. You have to wait for everyone to finish their turn. Parking was easy. Wear sneakers, a hat, and sunscreen. It's recommended to book your tour in advance instead of just showing up. Not a zoo. Some of the negative reviews didn't make sense. The staff was super nice. They also have an Airbnb if you want to stay there for 4 guests. read more

So much fun yesterday at Lions, Tigers, and Bears with my husband. We went to their Christmas celebration and it was awesome! The animals were amazing, the staff were awesome and so friendly, and all their Christmas lights and decorations were just beautiful! He feed a bear and I feed Jillian the lion! We even saw Santa. I cannot recommend this place enough. They really love the animals and it shows at this No contact, no breed animal sanctuary. They have lots of animals, not just lions, tigers, and bears. There are a variety of different options when you visit: regular visit, feed the animals, behind the scenes, one day, annual passes. Whatever you pick you will not be disappointed. Okay wow this place was AMAZING! You book a reservation for a tour online, upon arrival we checked in and then watched a video before the tour. The property was so well kept and the enclosures were high class! Super clean, HUGE, and every animal even had a pool! The tigers had an infinity pool and it was just stunning! The animals were so well taken care of, with full bellies and it was very cute to see them roll around. I really love the story of how each animal was rescued. They even had Joe exotics former tigers! We saw some adorable bobcats, tigers, tiger cubs, lions, liger, bears and more! They even had farm animals like goats and pigs. The tour was so educational and just seeing the animals so close up was just such an incredible experience. The price is absolutely worth it knowing how loved these animals are. After the tour you are allowed to roam the property yourself and there's a gift shop as well. Highly recommend this place! We can't say enough good things about the amazing work done at Lions, Tigers & Bears on Alpine, CA, just 40 minutes from downtown San Diego. It's a truly certified & accredited sanctuary - no touching the animals, no photos next to them, they are in huge enclosures with grass and dirt under their paws, and may live out their rescued lives in peace. I have close-ups of the animals, but you don't see the huge areas they live in that mimic their natural habitat as much as possible. The white tiger in with the orange tiger, we saw them when they were almost babies and maybe 20lbs, they are now 150lbs. We always see something different each time we go. Being a member is a great way to go often. San Diego is lucky to have the Zoo & Safari Park out here, but Lions, Tigers & Bears is another not to miss experience if you are nearby. These are wild animals that have been saved from lives of abuse - like two of the lions rescued from that Tiger King scum. Lions, Tigers & Bears help save 70 of all his Tigers and found accredited homes for the other 68 felines. Did you know white tigers are from specific purposeful inbreeding and they have eye and health issues due to it - pretty yes, but WRONG to be bred like that. They also just got a "liger" (pics 13&14) - purposefully bred lion & tiger - WRONG!!! So many health problems. Poor thing. In person, we could see her very faint tiger stripes. She is getting used to seeing people go by and acclimating to the sanctuary. Never stop at an unsanctioned or non-accredited roadside "zoo," nor anything involving wild animal petting, ANY animal circus, animal fights, exotic animal "hunting," or where animals are chained up and/or in small, concrete floor enclosures. Those are not safe for the animals - tell your kids "no" and that you'll take them to a real, safe zoo or sanctuary (and always check their credentials). And if it is a domestic animal farm, still look for cleanliness, do the animals look well feed, humane conditions, no choke-chains, antagonizing, or other harsh behavior. Stop by and see the Lions, Tigers & Bears whenever you can - it should be on everyone's SoCal experience list! read more

My husband surprised me with a tour of Lions Tigers & Bears and an animal feeding for my birthday, and it was such a memorable and unique experience. I also felt so happy that the money we paid for the experience went to such a good cause. My husband did a lot of research to make sure the place he was taking me to was treating the animals well, and having been there to see it for ourselves, we can confidently say that this is a true sanctuary for the animals who are always the number one priority. These animals were rescued from terribly abusive environments, yet they seem so at peace living out the rest of their lives on this property, their forever home. The volunteers were wonderful, very informative and friendly. What I also appreciated was that one volunteer was following the tour group with a golf cart in case anybody wanted to ride along instead of walking, so anybody with mobility issues can still participate. As for the actual feeding experience, you get to pick which animal to feed. They may or may not come up if they don't feel like having a snack at the moment, and in that case, you get to choose a different animal. I've done feeding experiences before where you just get one little morsel to give and then you're all done, but here, I was able to feed lots of pieces of chicken to a gorgeous white tiger named Nola and it was a special moment that lasted for more than a second. Best sanctuary I've ever been to. The amount of room and toys they give the animals shows they truly care about their mental and physical well-being. Went for a friend's belated birthday gift (she got to feed a bear) and she was in heaven! Before you get to tour, you have to sit and watch an informative (and highly upsetting) video to educate everyone on the dangers of trafficking/keeping wild animals. I thought this was a great addition I've never seen at a sanctuary before that gives a serious visual impact on what people do when they buy wild animals or support businesses that do. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable! Gift shop had a nicely varied selection. They also have an AirBnB you can rent at the sanctuary. It was SO pretty! This was our first time at LT&B and we were amazed! Summer, our guide, was so great and led us through a lovely tour of the facility. Denise greeted us so kindly as we walked in and took many photos of us in front of Moka & Nola to commemorate our visit. As someone who takes animal welfare very seriously, I would never visit animals in an unethical/solely for-profit way. LT&B has given such a lovely home to exotic animals that fell victim to an unethical start to their lives at the hands of humans who didn't give them the care and compassion they need to thrive. Thankfully, those animals ended up at LT&B and have truly found their safe space to land :) Everyone working the tour took the animals' happiness and comfort very seriously and showed a lot of care for them, especially during feedings. If you care at all about big cats and other animals you need to check out the humanitarian work of the fine folks at LTB. Located less than an hour away from San Diego near Alpine CA, this licensed and internationally accredited sanctuary rescues large cats, bears and more from idiot humans who think having a baby tiger for a pet is a good idea. You are guided around the sanctuary by caring guides and volunteers and learn about the animals at the shelter and their tragic stories. All the monies raised by admissions and sales go to supporting the more than 60 animals in residence. We saw lions, tiger, bears, a jaguar, bobcats, an emu, a leopard and more. Entry price for adults is around $50 and the tour takes around 2 hours. There were people of all ages in attendance from small children to octogenarians. Highly recommended read more

Didn't help to be a little drizzly, but that has no impact on this review. The web site did not specify that our admission included at 1.5 hour tour with a tourguide/feeder. It said our ticket was good from 10:30 to 12:00, only (even though they are open to 4:00). We arrived at 11:20, and joined a tour-in-progress, which was excellent, and saw all the big cats with her. Unfortunately, all the bears were before that, when we went back to see them, they were NOT out (they come up to the fence when they fed). Very disappointing. For the price of these tickets (which I consider a donation), some accommodation should have been made for the unclear instructions, both on their web site and the e-mails I got. I have given many donations to Bobbi in past years, and will do that no more. Probably the last time I will go out there. Sorry to report this, but I want people to know that the ONLY time to go out is by 10:30, or whenever the tour is scheduled for. read more

Hubs surprised me at this place for my birthday and we both loved it so much! We had a group tour around the grounds and also got feeding tickets. Learning about all the animals and where they came from was so great. They did a great job with the upkeep of the grounds & made sure the animals had everything they need. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the animals and truly loved being there for them. I would recommend coming here and checking out this animal sanctuary! I myself did not attend - BUT my mother-in-law took our three boys over their spring break. I was hopeful the boys would find some fun out of the adventure.. honestly, I didn't have high hopes b/c they dont enjoy the zoo which is what we all thought it would be like. LET ME TELL YOU - THIS WAS NOTHING LIKE THE ZOO! My boys are 13, 12 and 8yrs old. They all loved it so much. Each of them came home inspired by the stories about each rescued animal... the journey it took to bring them to safety - and how neat it was that grandma got to feed a bear. The entire adventure was really special to all of them. I'm not feeling a bit left out and wanting to go now too!! so we will have to come again sometime in the future. I had been wanting to bring my family to LTB for some time. Finally was able to and it did not disappoint. It's a bit of a drive, not super close to town (think Wild Animal Park/Safari Park). But don't let that stop you. There are many benefits of a trip to LTB. 1) You get to see lions, tigers, bears, bobcats, jaguar, leopard and other wildlife close-up and in a way you wouldn't be able to otherwise, 2) you learn about the stories of these saved animals and be educated about the awful exotic animal trade (think Tiger King), and 3) your entry fee goes to creating a safe and enriching environment for these rescued creatures. Drove 2.5 hours to get here, and I would totally do it again. Had tickets for a Friday afternoon, the entire group for our time slot was about 80 people but they break the groups up so it's not too much. The tour lasted a full 2 hours, and starts with a 15-ish minute video about the development of the place. The habitats they have built for the animals are spacious and beautiful. You're not looking at animals in small cages. These animals are well cared for, the staff are friendly, seem happy, and seem to love what they do. I really did love it so much that I plan on going back. Though I'll likely make a weekend trip of it next time since it's a far drive. read more

All of these happy animals were rescued from deplorable conditions and now living their best life. The employees and owners are truly dedicated to animal welfare and provide the animals with a natural and comfortable home. As a result you can see animal behavior up close that would be hard to see in a zoo or even in the wild. Look at the happy tigers playing in the pool. We visited Lions Tigers and Bears about a week ago on a field trip. I've always wanted to come here and was excited for the opportunity to go as a group, with friends, and check this place out. It is well maintained, the staff are friendly, the animals obviously very well cared for and happy and the tour is very accommodating (microphones for better hearing, room for everyone to see, golf cart for anyone who needs the assistance, etc) The only recommendation I could say is that maybe for field trips there would be a way to give the intro video to parents ahead of time to watch or decide if they want their children to watch. It was long, which is hard for children fo sit through, but right before they put it on they said "there are disturbing images so being aware" And I can definitely say I had to walk away with my children because there are just things a 5 year old doesn't need to see or be aware of yet. It was a great experience! You have to buy your ticket in advance, because the experience consists of an organized tour (1.5 hrs), and then you can roam the grounds on your own. Eddie the Jaguar was amazing. The sanctuary was very clean, with well-maintained enclosures and spaces that made both the animals and visitors feel safe and comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, always ready to answer questions or provide more information about the animals and their stories. You can also feed some of the animals, which is cool. The sanctuary itself was beautiful, set amidst picturesque surroundings that added to the peaceful atmosphere. It was easy to get to as well. Large highways most the way, and NO winding mountain roads, which is nice. I left feeling inspired and grateful for the work the sanctuary is doing. It's a perfect place for animal lovers and families. However, small children may not like some of the images of abused animals during the 20-minute video at the beginning of the tour. Great cause and amazing experience. We were met by Karen after parking and she's so sweet, helpful, and knowledgeable! It's a guided tour and Ray was our guide. They start with an informative session and video (15-20mins) and then take you through to visit Mocha and Nola (tigers) first, then to the bears, a jaguar, more bears and ending up near the Airbnb cottage which is a rentable space. Afterwards you visit lions, leopard, a rescued Bengal and tigers. The tour concludes at the gift shop and medical center. Memberships are half off on-site but check for specials. The perks are unlimited visits with appointments good for 12months from the date of purchase. The sanctuary houses rescues and they are a no contact accredited community. Besides medical interventions and feeding, they are free to live out their lives in peace. You can purchase upgrades to feed the big cats and bears. One review complained about the feeding with a fork tool... apparently they wanted to take the risk of hand feeding. The community is well managed and everyone works really hard for the upkeep. We recommend bringing a donation for the animals, they take approved food items or cleaning/office supplies. read more

My family and I just got back from our first visit to Lions, Tigers, and Bears and everyone loved, loved, loved it!!! There were so many animals to see and even though there were double fences for safety, it was a great opportunity to see these beautiful animals up close. I purchased a few raffle tickets at the entry for a chance to feed the animal of my choice and won!!! It was so cool to feed a 500 lb lion (still through fencing and barriers in a totally safe and controlled environment. My wife and I brought our 9 year old daughter and 12 year old son and they loved it as well. We would definitely go back to check out the big cats. The tour was awesome and it's so impressive to see so many people willing to volunteer their time to help the preservation and education cause they're so passionate about while working here.
