This review is for the deli- they make very tasty sandwiches with fresh ingredients while you wait. It also appears they have the option of having a tri tip sandwich on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The employees were very nice and the sandwich was HUGE. I also noticed quite a few people ordering a lunch special of pot roast with potatoes and carrots and a roll. It looked amazing and I was told they will sometimes sell out of their pot roast by 2 pm. I will be trying the pot roast next time! All the food is taken to go. read more

Huge Embarrassing moment! After paying for my groceries in one bag Realize that I forgot something. so I turned around right after I paid. I went to another register to pay. When I asked the young blonde girl to just add my new product to the same bag, she responded by asking me if I had paid for what was in the bag. I responded Yes. She then proceeded to ask for the receipt. I go to this overpriced store often enough to deserve some respect!! I felt that she did it because I am Hispanic. Bought this meat at liras and this was the meat once i opened it. they obviously covered the whole brown part and it had a foul smell once i opened it. They continued to put it on their shelf to sell it. absolutely disgusting!!! i definitely dont recommend buying anything here. Some of their employees seem to have a racist demeanor as well. The cashiers are knowledgable and the deli workers so accurate and very warm and friendly. We had 2 sandwich platters with soft fresh rolls and delicious fixings. If you ever find your way to Rio Vista, please stop here. I'm begging you. Such a friendly staff, it must legit be the only grocery store here. Packed. Local folks gather at the end of the aisle talking about life. I was recommend this place by a customer. She had the chicken salad sandwich, I was sold on just the looks alone. When I walked in I was greeted right away, even when I didn't follow the process, they were still nice and patient. I let them know that this was my first time and the response I got "sweetie we know". I ordered the Chicken club meal, all for less than $11. Right before she wrapped the sandwich, she yelled out "this is why you'll come back" gripping the sandwich like it was a stack of money!! And I will most definitely be back. With us, having moved closer to the Rio Vista area over the last four months, I have gotten a whisper of a couple of current, and past customers mentioned how pricey it is at this grocery store. I can't say that there are some items that are definitely noticeable in price hikes. And then there are some items which I may consider somewhat of a bargain and partake in them. But I do not do my full on grocery shopping here as if I had to narrow down, it would be a little on the higher end of things. Some of the staffing here will speak to you and some of the staffing here will just, kind of mosey on by you and continue on as what they were doing. The store for the most part does seem to be kept clean. I do like how they have the deli area although we have not chosen anything from here currently. They do have some good parfaits.it is on the smaller end of a grocery store but the perfect fit for a smaller town. Just depends on my current household knees and what we're looking for and what our budget is by making the choice to go here and pick up a few items. read more

Always have what I need. It's convenient...but most of all the staff is great!!! There are people who remember me, who always empty my cart for me and unload the cart into my trunk. They also provide home delivery which I have used on occasion and they will carry the groceries into my kitchen because of my disabilities. This is a small local store and I'm happy to support them but their front-end checkout is just, for lack of a better word, rude. You pay a premium to shop here but for what? An older store with grumpy old check out ladies? I waited in line like everyone else, I was the next inline , and suddenly the register next to the one I was waiting for opened and of course the check out person knew the customer behind me and invited them over and was chatty while I waited for the lady in front of me put away her wallet, find her keys, say her goodbye. When I got up next I wasn't greeted, or even acknowledged. Now I've been going here for 2 years about 3 times a week, not once have they shown me or told me how to get a "Lita's Card" said hello in a polite tone. I'd rather drive, and I have, to Oakley to shop. If it wasn't amlical landmark and convenient, I'd vote to have a Safeway or Lucky. Treat the community members as you'd like to be greated. There are other choices, although further, that you expect to be just a number not in your own town. I know the owners will not read or notice the issue but they really need to open their eyes and bring in some fresh perspectives. read more

It's not Whole Foods, aka Whole Paycheck, or even Safeway, but rather a small town independent supermarket, which is just fine. What does one expect in a town of only 7,000 or so residents? Actially, I was pleasantly surprised to see the amount and variety of items available. It is definitely a one stop grocery and miscellaneous item place. Stopped in to just grab a sandwich and readily found what I needed. The deli county is quite extensive and I would have ordered a custom sandwich but it was lunch time and already several people were waiting. I was in a hurry so waiting didn't work for me. The counter had premade sandwiches and I grabbed a turkey one on a roll. Checkout was friendly and efficient. The sandwich was well sealed in a container and it was large. Plenty for the price, $4.99. Everything, including cheese and lettuce, was super fresh but it was overly dry. I'd list it in the acceptable, and just OK category. But, again, what I would expect. The place can use a bit of a face lift, but hey, it's the country... so little sparkle is just fine. Parking was super easy in their lot. What impressed me most was everyone, without any exception, wore a mask, and wore it properly! Woo hoo for Rio Vista, as there were many patrons inside. If I could give this place a "0" ratting I would the way my family and I were treated here was very unacceptable we were racially profiled while being on a vacation trip. I have never heard of a place needing to have a US ID to purchase any type of alcohol beverage and plus on top of all of that asking for everyone in my family for a ID, no what kind of service is that. read more

My favorite local market. They have things that the big box stores don't carry. If you want something, they do their best to get it. They support local organizations. I like the point system. Prices are astronomical for the sub par quality of meat and produce. Eggs, milk, and butter are priced as if I'm on the Big Island and products are imported. Regrettably, I've returned about four times, each time vowing it was my last. Last time I came was on a Saturday night. I guess I was that jerk who comes last minute. Fortunately for him, the employee outside informed me they were closed already. I should have considered that it was unreasonable to try entering a store at 8:30 when they close at 9pm. That was my queue to leave. With gas at $5.50+/gallon, I calculated it is still cheaper to head east on HW12 for groceries. Add on an hour for heavy traffic, I'd rather sit in gridlock then feel pilfered for some tomatoes and cilantro here. The two stars are for the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff. read more

This summer, my family camped in the Delta along the Sacramento River. While we were in the area, Rio Vista was essentially the only town with the supermarket, at least within reasonable driving range. For a smaller town along a back highway, Lira's is actually quite sophisticated and a decent market. For one thing, they have a great selection of fresh produce, including what seem to be some local offerings. Specials on corn while we were there were welcomed, considering we were living with the barbecue as our primary source of cooking. This place also has a surprisingly large selection of craft beer, and just about every other amenity you would need. We bought a lot of ice here, by the 20 pound bag full, and the price was pretty good. While the store did not have the selection of a big city supermarket, it had everything we needed, and service was quick and with a smile. One note: be a little cautious pulling out of the driveway, or pulling into the market especially if you're heading west. That traffic is moving more quickly than it looks, and probably more quickly than it should. read more

This is the grocery store that is most convenient to my boat so I come here a lot. The deli is great, the produce is among the freshest I've found in the greater Sacramento area, and the butcher is fabulous and will even order specific cuts of meat say if you're planning ahead on needing a decent amount of beef tenderloin to make beef Wellington for a yacht club gathering. The prices for staples are a touch on the high side but they're an independent grocery store so I don't expect them to have the buying power and consequently negotiation power of a large corporate backed store. I pay the premium because I value what Lira's does for the community and I want them to succeed and stay in business. Did I mention the fish yet? Some of the best tuna steaks outside of ones prepared by restaurants are ones I've found here. I can't say enough good things about Lira's. read more

This quaint country grocery store is the only grocery store accessibly close by a mere three miles to and from Brannan Island State Park. The prices at this super market are anywhere from 50 cents to $2.50 higher than at a standard grocery chain store. The small propane Coleman bottles costs $5.47 per propane bottle while a small bag of ice costs $1.74. Oy-evay . . . very steep prices, indeed! read more

We went camping on Brannan Island for three days and well as does happen whilst camping, we ran out of a few things. Mainly, ice, misc food items and the all important beer. They have all of those things plus more. The ambiance is very old school supermarket. Like how I remember stores being from when I was a kid. We actually had to come back twice to get somethings. This grocery store is ok for the most part. Selections are very limited. Aisles are a little too narrow. The area by the registers is definitely too small. You get in line then you are in someone elses' way, so they need to go all the way around and down another aisle, or you try to scoot your cart over so they can get by. Only one cart can be in line and not block anyone else. Some prices are really high especially during this covid 19! They charge $8.99 for a dozen eggs and $4.50 for Two rolls of TP! Two Rolls, NOT two packages. We buy things like milk, half&half, fruit, things that we don't want to drive 40 miles to the next big town or don't have a big enough of a list to drive that far. Checked the "special" on dover sole on the shelf, it was $7.49 per pound and expired today. The dover sole at the counter was listed at $6.99 per pound and expired on the 26th. I used to be an employee for Lira Supermarket in the deli.The amount of anxiety and stress I went through while working there was not OK. I worked along side of the manager and assistant manager of the deli. The amount of harassment and bullying I got from the manager was not good and the assistant manager backed up the manager and treated me horribly as well from the start of my shift till the end of theirs. At one point I was required to take a harassment test and all the questions and answers I had help me realize what I was going through. Due to me having a mental disability, I was discriminated by my manager for having a disability. I've went up to the owners on many occasions and nothing has changed. I even got HR involved and nothing has happened. I will no longer be shopping at Lira's supermarket due to the treatment I have been getting since September of last year read more
