Old school... From the beat up hardwood floors, to the "necessaries"... this place has a bit of everything. If in the area, you gotta pop in here. Blast from the past! Please don't change a thing!

Absolutely love the Big Store. Friendliest place on the river. I recommend grabbing a nice tri tip and their delicious shrimp cocktail.

I visited Save Mart in Galt, CA [1059 C St] on Saturday, 07/25/26, around 2:30 PM…read more During this grocery trip, I wanted to purchase oysters since they were on sale between Friday and Sunday. When I approached the seafood counter, it took a bit of time to be assisted. I originally desired to get two dozen of the BBQ Oysters, priced at $12 for each 12-count bag. Unfortunately, the associate indicated that they were sold out. I got the 12-count of the Kumamoto Oysters instead. When trying them at home, the oysters were beyond fresh and of amazing quality. The downfall was that they were super tiny. Even though the oyster shell with the meat was small, I'd still get them again. The entire store was clean and presentable. I appreciated the oyster deals, because purchasing oysters at restaurants is significantly higher. This Save Mart gets the job done and I'd return to this location whenever I am in the Galt area.

This used to be a great place to go and pick up a few little items or to get some chicken strips…read moreand potato wedges for a quick meal. But, they've recently changed their pricing and instead of charging by the pound for chicken strips, which makes sense, they now charge per piece, which makes no sense because there can be a huge difference in size. So we no longer really go to the deli counter there anymore because with the new pricing policy, it's a lot more expensive. But, the main reason I'm reviewing is for an experience we had today, my birthday. My husband went here and bought me a $100 Amazon gift card. Now, he usually doesn't buy the gift cards when we get them, so he doesn't know what to check. He didn't look at the back and see that it had already been opened and part of the claim code was scratched off. (this is a common scam. People go into a star, copy the claim code down from a gift card, scratch off part of the claim code, so it can't be redeemed, and put the card back on the shelf. Then they check periodically to see if the card has been activated, if it is, they enter the claim code and use the gift card themselves. So you always have to check and make sure the card has not been tampered with). Anyway, after he gave it to me, and I attempted to upload it onto my Amazon account, it wouldn't register. So, my husband went back to the store with his receipt and told them of the problem and proceeded to get a long lecture from two female employees on scraping off barcodes with your fingernails, which isn't what happened at all. What they didn't understand is no one scraped anything, it came like that. However, knowing that it appeared someone had been tampering with their cards, they had no interest and told my husband he would have to call Amazon because "all gift cards sales are final." They couldn't understand he wasn't asking for a refund, he was asking for a card that hadn't been damaged. Still no concern and told him he needed to call Amazon. Which is what I did when he got home, but I would never buy a gift card from Savemart again. The card was obviously tampered with, but luckily Amazon asked for a picture of it and credited my account immediately.

I would recommend to buy the lamb when it's in season, that's when the FFA kids sell them. So fresh! You can sometimes also find items like lobster, which is harder to find. Their sandwiches from the deli are also good. Some of the people have worked there since I was a child. It's really nice to have that hometown feel. They have a large wine and fancy alcohol selection. A solid beer and craft beer selection too. And the star of this show? THE SUSHI! It's usually the same two people working and they will even do requests. They know me and smile at me every time. I do the sushi often for a quick to go lunch, to drink I'll often grab a coconut water from the health fridge selection and when I'm feeling wild I grab a bottle of sake! They have a nice bakery, with beautiful cakes and pastries. A beautiful selection of meats and cheeses. Also if I don't feel like cooking they have plenty of warm up at home meals for a fair price- like enchiladas, pizzas, pastas, ect. They really have it all! Lines are never too long. Plenty of parking. The UPS is inside making Raleys a one stop shop for lots of errands! I'll continue to go here for my sushi, wine, sake, craft beer, quick lunches, quick dinners, UPS runs, produce and more!

All of the older staff are incredibly rude and unprofessional. And too many negative exchanges to recount. The only reason I still shop here is because of the limited options in this town. Why work in customer facing roles if you're going to be rude to people especially people of color. Im not expecting 5 star service but just asking to not be treated with HOSTILITY and ANIMOSITY at a grocery store. The only nice part is the sushi offerings and the people who work in that department.
