First time ordering from Mongolian Beef, and it was a huge disappointment. The Mongolian beef was mostly onions--I could barely find any beef. Review for both dine-in and take out. Dine-in: Decent spot for a quick lunch. Came in during lunch rush hours because I had some time to kill. I was the only one dining in, but I could tell they had a lot of delivery orders. Despite this, my food still came out fast and my waitress was very much attentive. When I ate in, they were very generous with the chips and offered to refill it for me at no extra cost. My meal- the sesame chicken and shrimp stir fry bento box- was cheap, tasty, and filling. Both the restaurant and bathrooms were clean: both a good sign for how they maintain the kitchen in my experience. Take-out: Ordered a sesame chicken to go during my meal as well. Ended up eating it for dinner later that day. Still very filling and good for the price. Again they were generous with the chips, although I wish they put it in something other than a ziplock bag. Despite having to reheat it, the meal was still very good. Although I can't speak for delivery, I imagine that ordering it fresh would also be of the same quality. Overall: Awesome local Chinese take out spot. While not exactly doing anything extraordinary, they do what they do well and would suggest over other ones in the area. read more

One of my favorite Chinese food restaurants. Overall clean. Paty, who I usually get the pleasure to see. Is very kind, and attentive. Even though there is no kids menu battered chicken, and french fries were prepared for my little one. Chicken is a good generous amount (picture on review included.) Ambiance is really calm and relaxing especially in the evening. I prefer going here over Whataburger that is across. I enjoy how flavorful all the dishes are. Generous portions. read more

It was very good food! It was our first time ordering from Li's Cafe. We had takeout due to my family and I were just passing through on a long road trip and we were tired! I brought it back to the hotel and we all loved it! We had the cream cheese wontons, hot and sour soup, sweet and sour chicken, veggie lo mien, kung poa scallops, and the dragon/Phoenix dish. It was all very delicious and the servings were perfect for my family. Thank You! We will definitely try again when we are in El Paso,TX. read more

Very very mediocre Chinese food just a tinge better than Sun Garden. The biggest problem with these places is that whenever you order the chicken dishes, the breading takes up 90% of each little meat piece. So you basically end up eating a plate of saucy breading with a dash of chicken...not that great. I did enjoy the egg drop soup, but it was still really congealed and draggy. I added a little chili oil to liven it up. Probably won't be returning for dinner because the prices were simply not worth the quantity or quality. read more

Awful awful stuff! first the menu was just the names of the food. now i dont care if there is pictures or whatever but it didnt even offer a description of what was in it! "Butterfly Chicken" doesn't exactly explain it. Not even any notes to if its spicy or if it contained nuts which i can see being a problem because many people have allergies and many of their dishes contain nuts. the food: i ordered the lunch special and had an offer of three soups, i asked for the won ton. What arrived was NOT won ton soup. In a tiiiiiiny cup the waitress who was polite but not helpful brought me VERY salty broth LOADED with bean sprouts and a bowl of crispy won tons. Her having said nothing about the bowl i assumed i was supposed to to put some in my soup since NO wantons where apparent in the tiny cup. I later found these were served they way they served chips in a Mexican restaurant. It was WAY to salty and I found the tiny overly season wanton at the bottom of the cup that made it a wonton soup. the food than arrived the rice AWFUL!!! Dry, dry, dry and bland! The chicken also dry and cut into such tiny bits the sweet gummy sauce overpowered all the chicken. The egg rolls were meh but not enough to save the meal. please. dont eat here for your own sake! read more

We stopped in for a late lunch while shopping. Although it was after the posted lunch special hours, they allowed us to order from it. My wife ordered shrimp in lobster sauce, with won ton soup. I had hot sour soup and Dragon and Phoenix. The won ton soup was adequate, not great but the hot sour soup was very nice, and the bowl of broad "chow mein" noodles was a nice touch. The egg rolls which come with the lunch's were crisp and not at all greasy. Her shrimp and my shrimp/chicken dishes were nearly perfect. Each shrimp and piece of chicken were cooked very well, neither over- nor undercooked. The service was very good (we were the only patrons at that hour). The check, with 2 iced teas, was less than $20, and was worth every penny, and then some. Heartily recommended. read more

Has to be some of the best "chinese" ive had in a while. The general tso is certainly the best ive had. Shrimp lo mein was good and the beef hunan was alright. Egg rolls and cheese wontons were delicious! Fried rice nothing special. Service was excellent will certainly come here again and would recommend. Two words: LUNCH SPECIAL For around $5-7, you can get a soup with wontons, an egg roll, fried rice, and a hefty enough portion of general's chicken or beef and broccoli to put you into a food coma and ruin your afternoon productivity. The food comes made to order, and they will happily make it extra spicy if you ask nicely. Yes, the chef is Mexican, just like the chefs at all of the other american chinese restaurants (P.F. Change and Panda Express, I'm looking at you). And no, the food is not authentic Chinese food, it will not knock your socks off, and your life will be totally unchanged by it. However, one day, when you're doing your pajama jam, watching the Hunger Games or that one Bond movie for the fifth time, and you're craving that cheap, fast Chinese food delivery, you'll thank Li's for having your back. read more

I went here for lunch the other day because I LOVED Moon Day back in the day, which Li owned. I was thinking the flavors would match the old restaurant. Sadly, no. A lot of Chinese restaurants are vegetarian friendly, this had 3 things I could eat. The lunch special came with soup, but all 3 soups have a meat base, so I passed on that. When I was looking to order the entree, I tried to ask the waitress information about it, but she couldn't explain to me, since she spoke little English (and I speak little Spanish). I thought this was an odd start. I decided to order sesame tofu and asked that they make it Chinese spicy (seriously, Chinese hot is usually MUCH hotter than American hot). When I got the meal, it was just fried tofu cubes in an extremely sugary sauce. The spice level was non existent. I know I won't be returning here any time soon. read more

This place was much cheaper than Nothing But Noodles just next door. The menu, perhaps not as descriptive as some people may require, met all the requirements that I ever need a menu to meet: food and price. We had the lunch special. The coconut shrimp was actually very good. The sauce of the chicken dish was a little too heavy, but all in all I got exactly what I expected. When you go to eat at a Chinese restaurant you certainly aren't going for the atmosphere or the groundbreaking new dishes that they serve. It's soup, egg rolls, rice and your typical sweet and sour pork dish. If you're looking for fine dining this isn't it. But it certainly met my expectations and that is all I wanted. I go to Li's Cafe fairly regularly. For the price, it's definitely a good option for a quick lunch. I can't really speak to the other reviewers experiences, but my waitress has never been the chef nor have I ever ordered at the front. My friends and I all enjoy the sesame chicken and the general tao chicken. If you're down with veggies, the broccoli beef and the kung pao chicken are also solid. If you go for lunch, get the lunch special which includes soup, rice and choice of entree, all for 5-6 dollars. read more

THESE PEOPLE WILL ROB YOU This is the first time I review a place on this app and I did so just because I felt it was really necessary. I finally tried Li's Cafe after often passing by Sunland Park Dr. and seeing it various times. I can say with the out most certainty that was the first and last time i will go to that place. My experience was terrible. I was stolen money from them right in front of my face! When arriving, the hostess/cashier/waitress was indifferent to our arrival even though we were the only ones there and continued to be on her phone. After finding a table ourselves and sitting for a while without any service due to the waitress being on her phone, she approached us in a very indifferent and arrogant way, even THREW not handed us the menu. The food took easily 30 mins to get to us And it was OK at best At the end I had to pay at the register and was charged $34 give and take a few cents. (I don't know the exact amount because their HUGE cash register was not working so all receipts were hand written) I payed and got my change but guess what, I got no receipt! Okay so by now I'm a bit thrown off. Then I caught a glimpse of the written receipt she had made and saw a total of $31 (again, give and take a few cents) so I was REALLY thrown off at that point. So now I'm asking for a receipt, she lied and said they don't give out receipts (WHICH IS ILLEGAL BTW) Now I'm demanding a receipt, and she just gets and blank NAPKIN and writes the incorrect total $34. In all of this I maintain a calm voice and keep asking for an actual receipt and then ask for her manager. The manager comes out and tells her to give me the actual written receipt she refused to give me in the first place with the correct amount $31. She nervously shuffled and quickly grabbed the actual written receipt and put it behind the HUGE not working register out of my line of sight and quickly fixed the $31 adding two little lines and turned it into $34 and handed it to me. At last I gave up making a bigger scene for 3 dollars and some cents and just took the receipt and left feeling robbed and very angry. NEVER GO HERE THESE PEOPLE WILL ROB YOU read more

This restaurant is a great little cozy place to eat. I've only been here 6 times since I moved back to El Paso in June, but I've come to like the people there. First of all, they have $3.99 lunch specials for goodness' sakes. That is dirt cheap, especially since it includes a soup, egg roll and rice. The food is not the caliber of a michelin star restaurant, but it does it's job of being good enough for the price. Where they really shine is in the good, old-fashioned guest service. The server, Patti, and her son treat you like you are an old friend. Always smiling, very courteous, and always trying to please. Even the cooks have come out at times and asked if I wanted something to drink while I waited for my to go order. It's what service used to be during the small town days. I love going to places where they are always upbeat and courteous. Most places, it a roll of the dice to see what your server feels like conveying that day. Li's is a restaurant that isn't sure what it wants to be. Chinese? Japanese? Korean? It's a mix of all of these. This restaurant is related to Moon Day, a Chinese restaurant which is actually pretty good albeit pricey. You order your meal at a counter (this place used to be a Quizno's) and they bring your food out to you. The missus and I were hungry for Chinese and decided to check this place out. In hindsight, we should have gone somewhere else. She ordered the sweet and sour chicken - fried chicken pieces covered in a very thick sweet and sour sauce. No pineapple, no bell pepper, no onion like at other restaurants. Steamed rice, a spring roll and salad(??) were included. She told me she's had better. I ordered the chicken teriyaki skewers. Two skewers of chicken on a bed of fried rice with vegetable tempura as a side. First, the chicken was overcooked and dry. The teriyaki glaze was meh and I tasted black pepper more than teriyaki. The fried rice was...white! Fried rice at other chinese restaurants is brown - obviously soy sauce is added while cooking. Granted, there was fried egg, some bamboo shoots and green peas in there, but fried rice that was white was unnerving. The vegetable tempura was disgusting...the batter was snow white, very heavy and tasteless. I could tell there was a piece of carrot and some broccoli but beyond that, no idea. It was all covered in some kind of sauce. I've had tempura vegetables before and this wasn't even close. Maybe it was a new cook, maybe not. But we were so unimpressed we won't be going back. read more

In spite of seeing some less than stellar reviews, my wife, daughter and I ate at Li's yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the daily lunch specials carry through the weekends and not just on weekdays. I had the General Tao's Chicken which included soup, an egg roll and fried rice all for $4.95. The food was hot and tasty with a generous amount of meat. My wife and daughter both had the Bento box special for $9.95 each. It included coconut shrimp, beef with asparagus, soup, an egg roll and iced tea. The asparagus was tough and not tender as it should have been. All else was very tasty with ample servings. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. We'll definitely be back and I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys good Chinese food at a good price. read more

I ordered delivery from here about a half hour ago and my boyfriend and I are already well into our meal. The boiled dumplings were great on flavor, but the casing was pretty thin which is not the way I like mine. His sesame chicken, however, is surprisingly tasty. Most of the time ordering Chinese food, I don't expect to get real meat with whatever meat dish I order: maybe it's the leftover scrap parts of the animal, maybe it's just too fatty to tell it's meat, or maybe it's gerbil. This sesame chicken from Li's, though, is clearly chicken (and seems to be white meat at that!). Though the women who took our order over the phone was a little rude, the meal makes up for it. I came to Li's cafe for dinner and ordered the general tao chicken with white rice to go and it came out to $12. When I got home, the white rice was cooked unevenly. I never complain about food that much but it was pretty bad. Every bite i took, I had like 5 soft rice pieces and 9 hard uncooked pieces like it was refrigerated and uncooked. This happened every bite. Its white rice!!! Their chicken was extra chewy like it was old. Ive usually eaten here for lunch and my experience has been different.
