My dentist referred this dr. for a tooth extraction. First, I had trouble with the lengthy online…read morehealth history that wouldn't let me submit. I had to finish filling it out when I got there. Waited about a half an hour before they called my name. I was very nervous and warned them I'm very sensitive to pain, with zero pain tolerance due to fibromyalgia. I don't remember any acknowledgement of that. I don't do well with anesthesia, so I chose just to have the novocaine. The assistant quickly swabbed the area once, and without waiting, the dentist moved right in with three numbing shots, including the roof of my mouth which was the worst pain. There was hardly time to numb it; he didn't wait long enough for it to take effect. It was excruciating pain, pure torture, and I cried. It finally numbed up enough for the tooth extraction. I still have nightmares remembering that pain. No excuse for not letting the area get sufficiently numb; it was terribly traumatic, which threw my fibromyalgia into a flair for a couple of weeks feeling sick and fatigued. My sinuses were affected and still sore, including a headache. The procedure took only minutes, and I got a big bill that my dental insurance doesn't cover. Very unhappy and angry about the horrible experience. I didn't feel the place was very friendly; had bad vibes. They didn't do much to make me feel comfortable. I felt like just another patient. In and out.

**Above and beyond during an emergency visit**…read more My son was sent to AOMS for an unexpected emergency visit after his regular dentist accidentally punctured the roof of his mouth while unsuccessfully trying to remove a back molar. From the moment we arrived, every person we interacted with was fast, efficient, and incredibly professional. They got us in quickly, examined the puncture, and clearly explained what they were seeing and what needed to be done next. They not only successfully removed the back molar, but also found and removed small shard fragments left behind in another extraction site from the earlier appointment. Throughout the whole process they were patient, kind, and very reassuring with both me and my son, checking in on his comfort level and walking us through each step so there were no surprises. What impressed me most was how they made a stressful, last‑minute emergency visit feel smooth and organized, almost as if it had been planned in advance. Their calm, confident approach put us both at ease, and I left feeling genuinely grateful that my son's care was in their hands. I would highly recommend AOMS to anyone needing oral surgery, especially in an urgent or unexpected situation. Thank you, Dr. Huss & amazing staff

After they visit my bill was carefully explained to me which I appreciated. In the chair I was treated like a long term patient (this was my first visit) as they prepared for the surgery. I had opted for Novocain and what amazed me was I barely felt the shots as they went in to my gums, and I hate needles. The surgeon then proceeded to extract the teeth and did so with care, always checking in with me to see how I was doing. Thee was even a moment when we had to stop so I could be numbed a bit more. I appreciated being told what was going to be done and the explaining what was happening as we went on. In my opinion, this is definitely a quality practice.

Let me start off by saying, I understand that based on zip codes, insurance amounts can and often…read moredo differ. Regardless of this fact, Northern Star is absolutely taking advantage of their clients and overcharging on all fronts and the photos- the first one being an estimate from a VIRAL consultation with northern star on August 14th, 2020, and the second photo being from an In-person consultation I just had today with Dakota Valley in Burnsville- pretty much speak for themselves. As you can see from the first photo, Northern Star wanted to code two of my lower wisdom teeth as 'completely bony impacted'. I don't claim to be a dentist or claim to have the knowledge an oral surgeon has, but 'completely bony impacted', if you look it up, literally simply means "a tooth is completely inside of the bone and has not erupted through the gum," as in, it is not able to be seen in the mouth..... both of my lower wisdom teeth that they were claiming were "completely bony impacted" were visible in my mouth and had erupted through the gums. Another very questionable aspect was the fact that northern star tried to tell me that my four wisdom teeth would take 45 mins to 1 hr to extract, which meant they would get to charge me for a whole lot more for general anesthesia. The place I just had a consultation today told me, max, the entire procedure will take FIFTEEN MINUTES, because both the top teeth were a simple extraction and the bottom two, one was surgical completely erupted and the other is surgical partially bony. Northern Star mistook me for a young, naive 25 year old who wouldn't be bothered to do my own research or question what they were coding my wisdom tooth extraction as, which in essence, would've meant I would be getting charged ALOT more. Oh well- they lost a client and maybe this review will make them think twice about trying to FRAUDULENTLY miscode in order to overcharge unassuming clientele. DO YOUR RESEARCH.
