Brought my children to this office for a cleaning, after questioning a bill and insurance coverage…read moreon some work my daughter was having done, the office manager, Robin, REFUSED to give me an updated print out of the estimate, telling me I needed to go home and get the copy that was given to me weeks ago. I asked 4 times, she wrote a few numbers down on a POST-IT note. This was so unprofessionally handled. The dentist couldn't be bothered to come out and even discuss it with me after questioning the bill. I decided to leave and take my business over to Associates in Family Dentistry, Dr. Hutchison, where they actually care for your business and care about their patients and the staff is very professional. I would NEVER recommend Dr. Ryan Paulson's, Grand Traverse Smile Center, to anyone. EDITED TO ADD: So, after getting a second opinion from Dr. Huthison, about Dr. Paulson diagnosing my daughter with not one but FOUR cavities.. turns out, she has NONE. I'm so upset. Dr. Paulson and the practice are frauds. I wouldn't trust them with anyone. They are in it to make money and put you through unnecessary dental work to make a penny.

My partner had full…read morecoverage with his insurance which is in network for this provider and when we set up a first time appointment I specifically asked if she would be checking the insurance or we should do it ourselves and I was assured they would call to verify. She did not verify and we were sent a bill for over $700 for an initial visit that should've been fully covered with a small co pay. When we inquired how this happened she stated that we came on a one week period where his insurance adjusted and he was not covered until the week long switch was completed. When I inquired how that possibly happened when our insurance had been checked we were snapped at that it wasn't her problem and we should've checked ourselves stating she "didn't have to check for us". I've worked in a doctors office verifying insurance prior to appointments to save people this exact snafu of a scenario and it is incredibly not ok to assure that benefits will be verified if you have no intention to do so. We paid the bill after much back and forth and requested all future appointments be canceled as we will not be back and 6 months later received a call that we would be charged a late fee for an appointment that was "no showed". When my partner reminded her (the same person) that we had asked for all future appointments to be canceled she denied any recollection of our previous conversation.

Snippy receptionist kept interrupting me to say.. "and I understand that..". a few seconds later…read more.. "and I understand that" .... very annoying. Literally cut me off on every turn to say that. Possibly her way of not having to really listen to a full sentence and did not show a caring attitude. Will not call back. When are these dentists going to realize the front desk is a major deal breaker no matter how good the Dr. may be if rude phone manners are the first impression?

I visited this dental office this week. I needed a cleaning and check up and I had some pain in…read moreone spot. The office staff was professional and nice, but the dentist was rushed and very short with me. She told me I had 4 teeth which needed attention. When I asked for details, she would not tell me which specific teeth were involved. When I sat with the business manager to go over pricing and appointments, all of a sudden 7 teeth were on the plan, totaling $1880 in work. When I asked what that was about, the manager left to speak with the dentist, only to return to tell me the plan of care was correct. Again, no details. I called the office the next day explaining my concerns and asked to speak to the dentist. I never received a call back. I visited another dentist yesterday for a second opinion. I have 4 teeth that need fillings.... and the price was half as much as this place quoted me. Update--- I did receive a call over a week later. The dentist had no explanation as to why I was told 4 teeth in the dentist chair but 7 teeth in the plan, other than to assure me she did a great job and that it was 7 total. When I told her another dentist only found 4 she had no explanation.
