    Lisa's Herbal @ 2802 S Wentworth Ave

09/28/22 - Today my wife and I went to a traditional Chinese herbologist to deal w/some on going medical problems my wife has been having. The western medicine hasn't resolved the issue that she has. We went to a picnic last Sunday w/several of my colleagues that have seen this doctor that have produced some outstanding results. One of my friends had the same issues my wife has and was cured by the herbal medicines doctor Lau prescribed for her. We went to her business @ 2802 S Wentworth today to have a consultation w/Dr Lisa Lau. The business is in a storefront that has all sorts of herbal teas and other items. When we went in we were asked to fill out a form w/the ailments that were the reason for our visit. After filling out the form we were in an area waiting for our turn. While waiting I wandered around the store perusing the items. I saw a lot of drawers behind a counter & was asking questions. The guy working the counter is a family member. He told me there were over 400 different herbs that are customized to meet an individual's needs for their ailments unlike western medicine where one generic prescription is prescribed for all. Dr Lau also has a list of nutritional DO's & DON'Ts based on her When our turn came up we went in to Dr Laus office she asked some questions then held my wife's right hand & left hand and asked to see her tongue. Based on this Dr Lau was able to talk my wife a number of things that she was able to ascertain from her exam. She prescribed a treatment that is customized for every individual based on their particular ailments. I personally know 4 individuals that are all highly educated financial educators & I value their opinions as they have all seen remarkable results. This being said the jury is still out on how effective this mixture of herbs will be w/my wife's issues. Dr Lau is no fly by night flash in the pan. She is a 4th generation herbologist. Chinese medicine has been around for thousands of years way before western medicine.

Amazing herb store with herbalists Lisa and Phillip. This is located in a strip mall but it's so nice that multiple parking spaces are assigned to Lisa's customers. We made appointments but they also take walk-in customers. There are numerous herbs in display addressing various organ challenges. For example there is a combination of herbs serving as a kidney cleanse tea. Lisa is professional and to the point. She spends time explaining how the pulse symptoms correlate to the functioning of our various organs. Thereafter herbs are gathered, put into a bag with recommendations for their preparation and ingestion. Very impressive, but she comes from a lineage of herbalists and takes this very seriously. We shall see.

When I first came here I was a little hesitant just because of the pricing. I went in for my consultation & I was in and out within 10 minutes, I was really upset about that & thought I got scammed. Lisa just gave me an eczema cream, and some detox teas. Before Lisa I had constant flare ups every week. After using her cream my flare ups were gone, literally within a week my skin was clear. If you are going for an eczema consultation, I would honestly skip the consultation & save that money and just get the cream, just apply a super thick layer !!! And you'll see improvement right away, LITERALLY.

Discovering a high tea that takes celiac safety seriously without sacrificing flavor or elegance…read morefeels like finding a needle in a haystack. After seeing this charming spot pop up on Instagram as a safe haven for gluten-free diners, I called ahead to reserve a table for two. The reservation process was seamless, requiring payment over the phone upfront, which conveniently includes both tax and gratuity. Located inside a sophisticated hotel, the venue is easy to access with plenty of parking garages situated nearby. Once inside, you simply head up to the second floor where a breathtaking view awaits; we were fortunate enough to score a prime window-side table overlooking the scenic surroundings. When booking, I noted our dietary requirements--one gluten-free vegetarian and one standard gluten-free--and we opted to upgrade our experience to include champagne. The bubbly arrived immediately, delightfully paired with interactive mix-ins: passionfruit, honey, and raspberry pearls that added a touch of whimsy to the toast. The culinary journey kicked off with a lovely plate of gluten-free cookies, setting a high standard for what was to come. Sticking to their whimsical "Tale as Old as Tea" theme, the savory finger sandwiches were exceptionally crafted, proving that gluten-free bread doesn't have to be dense or crumbly. Next came the gluten-free scones, which were a true standout--warm, flaky, and remarkably good, paired with the traditional accompaniments. The grand finale featured an array of stunning pastries and desserts that balanced visual artistry with rich, decadent flavors. Service throughout the afternoon was attentive, warm, and polished. From the thoughtful touches with the champagne to the meticulous attention paid to cross-contamination safety, the entire experience was flawless. If you are navigating celiac disease and craving an indulgent, worry-free afternoon tea, this venue delivers an unforgettable culinary escape.

This particular visit was for the themed afternoon high tea called Tehle as old as time. The theme was obviously tied directly to Beauty and the beast while I was there I learned that the hotel has to pay licensing fees in order to utilize these themes. They have also previously done and/or will do in the future a Harry Potter theme as well. We did come on a weekday a Friday and you have to make the reservations ahead of time and something I did not appreciate. Was you also have to pay ahead of time and paying ahead of time also requires you pay an OpenTable fee as well as a set 20% service fee. Well, I do understand securing reservations. I do not understand paying all of this ahead of time for such a high class hotel. The service was absolutely incredible. The ambience was on par and very clean. We did get a table right next to the window which overlooked Wabash. The sandwiches and the sweets were more than plenty. And well worth the price. The tea was so incredibly fragrant and strong exactly as I like it. I would definitely come back here again and do this again even if they did have a different theme.
