The staff customer service is a quality like no other, too. I like supporting local businesses throughout the city and will say that this location deserves all the support. This place is probably my favorite retail store of any type. It feels small but they always have what I need. But more than that, the customer service is beyond five stars. The staff clearly enjoy being there - the banter back and forth among them always brightens my day. They are hilarious. And every time I have visited, there are one or more staff waiting right by the front door and they proactively ask how they can assist. Best example - I wanted to take advantage of a nice early November day to string Christmas lights today. The Christmas items were not yet on shelves, but the staff went into the storage and hauled out about a dozen large boxes and sorted through them to find exactly what I needed. This is a tiny but mighty hardware store. The staff are polite and helpful- they are ready willing and able to take you to exactly what you're looking for. They even have things there that you didn't know you needed. Like today I found some really cool silicone ice cube trays- love them! read more

I went in for one thing came out with something else. Best thing was, it was exactly what I needed though! The guy who helped me was an older patient man and listened to my situation. We are always impressed by the level of customer service at this store. The manager and all the staff we've dealt with have been friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. It is so wonderful to have such an amazing resource in our neighborhood. We bring our lawn mower and snowblower here for service and there is always great turnaround time on repairs and tuneups. read more

I was extremely amazed at the wonderful service I got at this hidden gem of a store! From the time I walked in the door, I was serviced immediately. Dan (or Dave), I kept changing his name :), greeted me asking what I needed. I told him I was looking for a wood elongated toilet seat. I had been looking online and in other stores for one with no luck at all, however, his store had exactly what I needed! Mike joined in the search and said I have a toilet seat I think you may like, and he did. I danced the dance of joy! My search was over finally. Mary rung me up with a smile. As I am posting, I am reading through other comments. I saw that the store had gotten bad reviews on a racial note. I was sad to see that, especially as a minority myself. The comments were made quite some time ago so I am thinking that there must be new staff there now or major changes have been made for the better. My visit there was a great experience and I will return there again for other home items. Keep up the great work Ace! read more

Perhaps the most important lesson I learned on a recent visit: Not all ACE stores are created equal. This is a cozy, cramped, franchise of the ACE brand and I'm sure it could eventually become a staple of my weekend visits for a quick "yes I know what I'm looking for and know this location will have it." However, service at this location cannot hold a candle to the OG National Ace Hardware just north of Downtown. It is what it is -- when you've got barely 18-something youngsters at this location versus the seasoned, knowledgeable grizzled hardware / home improvement gurus at the other locale, there's bound to be a difference in the service and style. Regardless, I'll still frequent this as a stop when I don't need the advice or "how to" and just need a simple part or quick fix item. read more

This place is fantastic. I have had great experiences with home projects and religiously visit for help from anything to yard work, home remodeling or refinishing furniture. This place really does carry a little bit of everything... and if they don't have it, they will order it! I'm always happy to wait for a clerk to finish with their current customers questions - no matter what the wait - because I know that they will spend the same amount of time helping us with our project and asking specific questions to make sure it's all perfect! I usually have the pleasure of working with Jon, Anna or Karen because of the time I usually stop in, but have also had good experiences with other staff members I may not know by name already. read more

It's a smaller but friendly hardware store. One of two near my house, it has a better selection and better quality.

I'm always able to find what I come in for and the rest of the time is spent browsing the store, it's filled with cool products. Completely honest review, I am a black man that lives literally a block from this store, and was excited to have it in my neighborhood when I found out about it. I have gone to this store maybe 10 times and it has nearly everything I could ask for, but I'd rather go miles away than ever enter this store again. I feel a racist vibe from the moment I enter this store EVERY SINGLE TIME. It seems as if no one ever acknowledges me, nor does anyone seem to ever want to assist me with anything other than me paying & leaving. Yet, when I see other races enter the store, they are greeted and seemingly treated MUCH differently. I have never been greeted one single time in this store, and I really could care less, but if we're ALL paying customers what is the difference other than race? The business culture in terms of the treatment of customers seems to be very one-sided, and I think it's really not the type of place where blacks should ever spend their hard earned money. There is a shorter gentlemen with grey hair who really spews an incredibly negative vibe my way more than the others by refusing to even look at me although I'm standing two feet away from him wanting to ask a question. It's unbelievable treatment of customers and very discouraging. As an educated black man, every time I am in this store it reminds me that although our country has made some incredible strides with race & equality, unfortunately it does still exist. I would give this store 0 stars if that were an option, their treatment of me has been unreal. read more
