Came in for a booking with a friend on a Wednesday afternoon after being recommended to this salon…read moreby two other friends. The salon was clean and professional with some ambient jazz in the background. My appointment with Hibiki started with a gentle hair wash before I was brought a small cup of tea and some konpeito to snack on as I showed him the album of reference photos on my phone. We were able to make some pleasant small talk even with the English-Japanese language barrier, and Hibiki was very attentive to making sure my hair was cut and styled in a flattering way that added volume! (I had let him know I struggled with my hair sitting flat) I would definitely come back!! For anyone looking to book here that doesn't speak Japanese, I would advise you make sure you have clear reference photos of the type of cut you want--preferably from multiple angles. Don't be afraid to ask questions, bust out Google Translate, and make gestures for what length you want your hair at!

She has a great eye for shape and detail, and every time I leave the salon the cut looks sharp, modern, and easy to maintain. She also takes the time to understand what you're looking for and offers thoughtful suggestions that really work with your hair and style. It's clear she has a lot of experience and takes pride in her craft. If you're looking for a stylist who can give you a clean, stylish cut with great attention to detail, I highly recommend Kaori at Viange Hair.

I visited this salon a few months ago for a hair spa, and it was a really great experience. The…read morehead massage was a bit too strong for me, but overall the process was very good including the face mask and hand massage, and the other hairstylist styled my hair exactly the way I wanted. However, this week I went back for a haircut and had a different experience. Before booking, I specifically asked if the service included a wash and blow-dry styling since the price was lower compared to other professional salons, and she confirmed that it did. Because of that, I skipped washing my hair at home. My scalp tends to get oily quickly, even after two days of washing. At the appointment, she only shampooed the ends of my hair and skipped the roots and scalp. After the cut, she styled just the bangs and lightly blow-dried the rest. She did ask how I wanted my hair and I showed her pictures, saying I preferred it straight, but it was left unfinished. It felt like she was in a hurry. In other salons, they usually spend good time washing and conditioning properly, but here it was done in just a minute. The appointment was scheduled for an hour but was finished in about 20 minutes. The haircut itself was good -- she gave me exactly the type of cut I asked for. However, I was disappointed with the wash and styling part. After leaving the salon, my scalp still felt oily and the roots sticky. In a way, it's good she didn't fully style it as I wanted, because I ended up washing my hair again at home and styling it myself. Overall, great haircut, but the wash and styling experience did not meet expectations this time.

After living in the Tri-Valley for years, I was always searching for a Korean salon that could give…read moreme a true ashy brown... without the reddish tones I kept getting at more typical salons around here. I finally found one that came closest to what I get done in Korea! My hair is naturally very curly, which I know isn't common for Korean hair and can be harder to work with, but she did a great job. She evened out my previously multi-colored hair into one cohesive color and trimmed my bangs and layers how I like them. More than anything, the salon just feels like home. It's a small mom-and-pop shop, and I already know I'll be coming back regularly. They even have a Korean nail artist there, which is such a big deal for me... I've missed getting my nails done but haven't found anyone meticulous enough yet - so I'll be back soon. I'm so excited to have found a little beauty spot I can call my own!

TLDR, these are notes for you to consider…read morebefore visiting, I highly recommend coming here, so book an appointment, show Aki the hair you want, sit down, and relax with a book or doom-scroll on your phone. Before getting a cut at Aki's though, here are some notes to help make your visit easier and more enjoyable: 1. Aki is trilingual, fluent in Japanese, Mandarin, and English. She was trained on her craft in Japan. 2. Focus Aki is very focused at her work. She will chat and have conversations with you, but you would have to initiate. That being said, if you are the quiet type or just not want to have to talk to anyone, you'll be fine. 3. Vibe If you replaced the Tiffany teal walls of her studio with wood, you would be in a cozy Ghibli cottage. It's like walking into someone's cozy corner. Spa music is usually playing so it's more of a relaxing feeling. Aki goes straight to the chase, so no dillydallying here. 4. Have reference photo(s) Aki will cut your hair, to the best of her ability, to look just like the photo you have provided. She will take a photo of the haircut you want, and keep it on the table for her to refer to. That being said, know that she may use different methods of cutting (and styling) you are not used to as she was trained in Japan. 5. Hairwashing Aki dry cuts directly, so if you want your hair cut with freshly washed hair, wash and dry your hair before going. Not a requirement, this is only if you really want to. But since Aki does not wash hair before the cutting, she is able to spend more time in the cutting and styling process, which has been worth it every time for me. 6. Name any hair concerns Love a hairstyle but you don't know if you have enough hair for it? Losing hair but want a short cut with volume? Bangs too short for a haircut with longer bangs? Reference photo has a person with different hair type than yours and so you don't know if you can pull it off? TELL AKI. All my haircuts have been successful with her because I have told/asked her things like.. "My hair is really flat on top but I want volume like in the [reference] photo...but I am also a busy mom so I need low/no maintenance." "The girl in the reference photo has a different hair type than mine, would I still be able to get my hair cut to look like this?" "I like this [reference] hairstyle, but I don't want to have to style it every day. If I get this cut, would it still look good without styling?" "I part my hair on different sides depending on how I feel, would I still be able to do that with the new haircut?" "Can I style this cut without using product?" "I have a bunch of baby hairs growing out, can you help blend them into the haircut?" The pricing for a haircut with her is more than reasonable, and she has always put in her 100% every time. Thanks Aki!!! *Aki also mentioned to me that for some reason, some of the reviews are being hidden by Yelp, this reducing the star and review counts. Not sure if that is on Yelp or users, so please post your support if you don't see your review up!

Her customer service, overall knowledge/decision making and the fact that she cannot properly understand or communicate with clients is a liability. She is going to injure others by blocking me from putting my experience out there. Worst haircut experience of my life. So traumatic, she insulted me and injured me and refuses to fix it. I had a spinal procedure this year and sitting for hours at a time is hard and she did not give a break once in the 6 hour service. I tried telling Aki multiple times repeatedly that i was in pain that my spine hurt severely but she just ignored me and told me to keep the chair steady. the fact that she cannot understand all clients is a liability. She burned my entire scalp and then doused me in vinegar after pleading for her help telling her if was burning me severely. She doused me a second time at the end again and her husband Nico who was there in the end tried to also articulate to her that I was saying the vinegar hurt badly. Even after understanding Nico she doused me and said "no it won't but Now" even though it certainly did. she injured me and she will injure others. thank god a gentleman walked into the suite towards the end of the service and was able to translate some of what i was saying. at one point she even said "this is why i dont do hair straightening, because these girls get too tired and cant sit" and thank god the guy was there he told her "Aki she is telling you her spine hurts" my neck is in pain from her deciding to use three bottles of product in my hair and formed it into a huge knot. she told me my hair was "too long to wash in her sink" and that she would have to cut through the knot even though the knot was there due to her negligence. i was in tears 4 out of the 6 hours and in terrible pain. all the while she just kept insulting me telling me how she would never ever to hair straightening again and she regretted doing my hair. horrible customer service and down right but not a nice woman whatsoever. i did not know just how cruel she was until i texted her the following day and told her that my entire scalp is scabbed, all of my roots are fried, my ear is burned and that i tried telling her during the appointment i was in pain but she could not understand me. IMMEDIATELY she went on the attack and told me that her husband is an attorney, i must be hurting for money, and threatened that i would be the one owing them money... see photos. thanks to aki I had the worst mothers day, my hair is ruined and i will be needing medical treatment as well as hair treatments. My scalp feels rock hard, sore, scabbed. My ear is in pain still and every inch of my roots are fried. My entire scalp.

I had my first appt w BEN @ THE COLOR HUSTLE in FEB 2026…read more Before that I'd had the same stylist for 20 yrs. though sadly, COVID changed things, leaving me without a stylist. Since then, I've been so frustrated & unsuccessful as I've had to color & highlight my own hair, the past five years. I think my hair is pretty complex- but not to Ben ! Ben "got it" immediately & quickly reassured me he knew my precise colors, damage issues & exactly how to care for my hair. Even when Ben was working on my hair, I had anxiety & was questioning things, but he was confident & knew -- & every time, he was right. Ben also makes a deliberate effort NOT TO DAMAGE the HAIR, & only uses, & works w HEALTHY PRODUCTS. The RESULT I got was WAY BETTER than expected; I was blown away w unique touches & additions Ben made, that my 20year stylist had never even suggested. On Appt#2, Ben suggested KERATIN treatment, which I knew nothing about, but he took the time to explain BENEFITS & the RESULT I could expect - so we did it. This treatment was incredible & totally changed my hair (he said "this result" will last about 6mo.) *Again, my prior stylist never even told me about this amazing treatment -KERATIN is great. Ben is a Master & Artist of Hair Design. LEGIT !!! He is passionate, sharp & empathetic. He listens closely, but his unique intuition is honestly, so totally spot-on ... I believe Ben would create a successful result ... even if nothing was ever explained. Look at Ben's REVIEWS. Im an OCD researcher & I can tell you- BEN's REVIEWS are not typical even for "best stylist" reviews ... no. COMPARE them & you'll see: Ben's stellar reviews WIN! To ME, finding a stylist who listens, hears you & creates the look YOU wished for (+ EXCEEDs that) - is a dream & ... as good as it gets. Linzi L.

I started browsing Yelp and found someone farther away, so I sent an inquiry. Shortly after, I got a text from Ben and was confused. Then I realized Yelp had shared my request with other nearby hairstylists (thanks, Yelp, for the unexpected match!) Ben was very responsive and answered all my questions. I checked out his Yelp page, and it looked promising, so I decided to give him a try. In the meantime, my daughter had been wanting highlights forever, so I asked Ben about that too and he said he could definitely help. I went in last Monday for my keratin treatment. Ben was friendly, kind, and easy to talk to. The whole process took about three hours. My hair looked so straight and shiny afterward! I also got a haircut, and he gave helpful advice on the length and style. After washing my hair three days later, it was so easy to dry and completely frizz-free. I'm extremely happy I found Ben for my keratin treatment. On Saturday, my daughter had her highlight appointment with him. She chose a full highlight but wasn't sure about the exact color. She showed Ben some inspiration photos and trusted him to pick something that would suit her. After about 3.5 hours, I came back to pick her up and her hair looked so beautiful! The highlights blended so well and definitely exceeded my expectations. My daughter is thrilled with the result! If you're looking for a hairstylist for keratin treatments, highlights, or coloring, I highly recommend Ben!
