A Difficult Experience During a Painful Time…read more Losing a pet is incredibly hard, and when we faced the sudden decline of our beloved four-legged family member a year ago, we were emotionally vulnerable. Our regular vet recommended NVS when our senior dog suddenly couldn't move and was in obvious distress. We share this backstory to highlight our state of mind during our visit. After the initial exam, we were told our dog's condition could be terminal cancer or something else entirely, requiring surgery and tests for a definitive diagnosis. When we pressed for a prognosis, we received vague answers: days or weeks if it was terminal cancer, possibly years if it was something else. Given her advanced age, we questioned if putting her through surgery was truly in her best interest, and even asked about euthanasia, but received little guidance. The most jarring moment came when the surgeon, called in specially, told us, "I can give you five minutes to decide on the surgery. Then I leave" This comment, more than anything, shifted our focus from our pet's well-being to the surgeon's impatience. It left a lasting negative impression during an already agonizing decision-making process. Despite the uncertainty, and given less than ten minutes total to decide, we opted for surgery. The outcome was the worst-case scenario: terminal cancer. She might have weeks, maybe a few months. Ironically, the same surgeon who showed little empathy earlier offered the most poignant advice: "Be as present with her as you can." This, too, has stayed with us. During this stressful time, the discussion of costs arose. Over the phone, we were quoted upwards of $7,000, with an itemized breakdown including the initial exam, surgeon's consult, and surgical costs. We painstakingly confirmed the grand total multiple times, even writing it down for our records, as we were not at our best. We were told complications might make this go higher, but we would be called beforehand. At the end ended up around 10 thousand plus. There was no call. However, upon picking up our dog post-op, the bill was significantly higher. We were told we had "misheard" or "misunderstood," which we firmly disagreed with. They claimed the calls were recorded and they would listen back, leading us to believe the discrepancy would be resolved. We paid the inflated amount to take our dog home, but despite numerous follow-up calls, we never received a response or resolution regarding the overcharge. Our precious and loyal furbaby passed away just three weeks after the surgery. Now, with some distance, we can reflect on our experience. While we cannot blame NVS for her terminal condition, the overall lack of empathy and care shown towards both our pet and us during such a vulnerable time, coupled with the billing issue and subsequent unresponsiveness, lack oh empathy makes it impossible for us to recommend their services. One more thing the people at the front desk are just rude and cold with no c We still not hear from anyone to do a follow up on Torry and this means they don't care and just to hear their name make me sick. At the end of the day this place could and should be more understanding, emphatetic of the hard time when we deal with the health of our family members but for them is only money signs and like my grandmother used to say " actions speak Lauder then words? in this case no word nor actions.

How the mighty have fallen! In the nearly three years since we've been taking our Pomeranian to…read morePetco for grooming, we've seen the quality of service fall exponentially. Yesterday, I took Lily in hoping to have a good experience, but it wasn't to be. We've been letting her fur grow out because we want that classic Pomeranian look. I told the groomer that I didn't want her cut really close, that I just wanted her trimmed about 3/4 of an inch. What did I get? A dog that doesn't resemble a Pomeranian AT ALL! And the groomer (I wish I could remember her name) said, "Well, if she'd had a double coat, this look wouldn't be a good one for her." Um... hello? Pomeranians are double-coated dogs! What the actual... ??? I asked to speak to a manager and expressed my dismay and unhappiness at the job the groomer did. I asked him at the very beginning of our conversation if he could identify Lily's breed and he had no clue. I had to tell him that she was a Pom, and she sure didn't look like one post-grooming. I received no apology, only a half-hearted, "Well, I guess I could comp the cost of the grooming." Please, Mr. Manager, don't knock yourself out on our account. I've attached before and after photos. If you notice her sanitary area under her tail and down her back legs, she was SHAVED in spots. Unacceptable! A knowledgeable groomer would know that you cannot cut a double-coated dog that closely because you risk the fur not growing back properly, and it can be a life-long issue. To say we are not pleased is the understatement of the century! In the beginning Petco did such a good job. Now, I'm unwilling to risk another repeat of this latest fiasco.

Called again on the way and a very nice man named Mitchell answered and met us there. He said that she would be cremated the next day and we would get a call to pick up probably in the afternoon. It seemed like he really cared and understood what it was like to lose an animal. We asked what the office hours were and he said it's a family business and he's just up the road 10 minutes away and they will call and arrange a pickup time once everything is done. He accidentally overcharged us but even pulled cash out of his own pocket to make up for it. The next day I get a text from an unknown number with my name spelled wrong saying that my pet was finished yesterday and is ready to be picked up. I said great what time do you close today? The person who I now know is the owner texted me back and said well I'm leaving now. I texted back okay can I pick her up tomorrow? ....No response. Waited 35 minutes and I called the business. The owner Leia answered and she said she had left for the day. I said okay can I pick up in the morning? She said she had doctors appointments in the morning and wouldn't be available until after 12 and they close at 2. (In the middle of our work day). I told her that it's kind of been a weird experience with the business hours and the communication and being overcharged. I'm new to the area and now I'm kinda nervous. She said that the website was wrong and those weren't the right hours. (How would I know that?) She said I can be there today at 4:30. I said perfect my husband will be by. If things would have stopped there I wouldn't have left a review or been that upset. Instead 20 minutes later she calls me back. I thought she was changing the pick up time or to apologize. Nope she called to tell me she didn't like my tone and that I was ungrateful for all she had done for me. Not once on either call did she ever tell me that she was sorry for my loss ect. She said "Jesus Christ what do you people want from me?" I said all I want is to be able to pick up my ashes and I've been flexible with the time. I told her it was confusing to get a text to pick them up after she had already left for the day. She said "well that's how I always do it." She was very cold and rude. She then told me that legally she didn't even have to give me the ashes and she could hold them for several more business days. I don't even understand why she would threaten that. That's when I started to panic and wonder if I would even get my baby back. All I asked was when I could pick up and what the business hours were. I can't believe this is someone that owns a business working with bereaved people. I have four other guinea pigs and a dog and I'm sure I will be needing more services in the future so was hoping to find a good business to have a relationship with. Even though Mitchell was so sweet after reading other reviews and seeing that others have had similar experiences I don't feel comfortable being back. She should probably leave the customer service to her employees because threatening to hold the remains is unbelievable. I don't even understand why it escalated to that. My husband got there to pick up and the owner wasn't even there. Her employee was confused and said he had been there all day and she wasn't even there. I will say that I appreciated the foot prints, hair cutting, and the urn that was included. Again Mitchell was great but the owner was extremely over the top and rude. All of that was so unnecessary at a time where I'm already sad and going through losing a pet.

Pet Food Center would always give a 10% military discount and on Monday's would give a 20% military discount. When you are purchasing well over $150 a month on food alone, this adds up, and should be appreciated as a loyal customer. Well, as of the first of April, 2023, corporate has decided that they are losing too much money in this military town of Clarksville, TN and they will no longer honor ANY military discount on food. But we can still shop their junk and get a 10% military discount on anything else but food. We worked for pennies on the dollar while in the military and put up with crap many times, and now the big businesses cannot spare a few pennies to the military to feed their animals? I just wonder if the military discount discontinuance was across the board or just in this one military town. One of the clerks told me why it wasn't being given anymore. Which BTW, they cannot keep a groomer there and there is a great turnaround on cashiers and managers and staff. Hmm, makes you wonder. All I know, is that I don't have to shop there and there are far too many other places that I can shop and even have it delivered straight to my door. I think you have made a huge mistake by taking away this discount because many military that I know will start shopping elsewhere because it is a slap in the face. It's bad enough to quit giving the discount but to do it because corporate is losing too much money. Give me a Break.
