At $19/day for a visit which includes taking care of kitty-fido, grabbing mail and more, I've used them several times over the last year or so. They've been reliable and good with communications while I'm out. They also try to pair you up with the same pet-sitter for consistency which is a nice plus. And if you follow their Facebook page, they post regularly on their visits which is a good way to stay engaged. So overall no complaints about Raleigh Pet Sitters, they have done a very solid job for me and yeah, I'm pretty sure I'll be using them again. If I could only get my cat out from under the bed while I'm gone, now that would be a pet-sitting miracle...

It's such a relief to know the crew here--Jillian, Evan, and Chris--are not only friendly and laidback, but also incredibly knowledgeable and experienced. I'm fairly new to the hobby and they've always been patient in answering my questions, guiding me through everything, and encouraging me to do my research before purchasing. I'm especially into puffer fish and rainbow fish, and every fish I've brought home from here has been healthy and in great condition. Of course, as a buyer, it's also important to do your own due diligence--acclimating and quarantining properly really helps your fish settle in and thrive. What makes this store even better is that they offer special orders! If there's something specific you're looking for, talk to Evan--he's amazing! Super friendly and attentive, and he'll take great care of you and your order. Every visit is a great experience--the whole crew creates a welcoming, fun, and relaxed environment. Whether you're just starting out or a seasoned aquarist, I highly recommend this place. They also carry a wide variety of amphibians, reptiles, tropical, and saltwater fish--definitely a well-rounded store for all things aquatic (and more!).

When we finally went there in January, they were very helpful with the process. And we adopted the two cats we've been watching since October!

We recently bought a pole to keep the squirrels away and Casey has all kinds of great tips and information. We also purchased a handy laminated bird guide that helps you identify birds of the region. The best part about Backyard Bird is the residential cat named Ruby. Casey saved Ruby and she sits atop the counter or parts of the store. Apart from the neat bird supplies, I love visiting just to see Ruby. Support local and check this place out the next time you need bird seed, feeders, or any other supplies for birds.

Now, though, you can't open any cat compartment on your own. Compartments are kept locked, and an employee must unlock and stay with you. Although it's less convenient, it's a lot safer. Also, make sure you sign in and get a sticker from the front desk, so everyone knows you have the right to be there. The adoption process was quick and smooth, and employees were friendly and helpful. The fee for adopting a kitten is always $45, and adult cats like Nellie are $5 (right now). This includes altering, microchipping, appropriate vaccinations, vet records, and a small bag of cat food. Wow! To me, Nellie is special, but all the animals are deserving of love, and the shelter is always in danger of overcrowding in the summer. Maybe you'll find your new best friend there!
