This is a cool little locally owned independent pet store in Hillsborough. There is a huge selection of natural food products for your favorite furry friend as well as gourmet treats, collars, leashes, beds, books, magnets, cards, and a bunch of other stuff. The owner is super friendly, as are the two store mascots (Aspen and Izzy) who are probably the two most chill dogs you'll ever meet (and to think one of them is only 19 months old!). They were just lounging on the floor and couch when I visited the shop, happy to be petted but probably equally content to be left to their chillaxin. It's a bit off the beaten path from the heart of downtown Hillsborough, but it's near Hillsborough BBQ and The Depot so it's not like it's in the middle of nowhere. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area and happen to have a furry companion in your life (and I'm not talking about a significant other who's averse to shaving). Plus they offer a self-service doggie spa where they provide the shampoo and conditioner, apron, blow dryer, grooming table, and towels while you need only supply a stanky dog! This is a top notch quality group that are passionate about dogs. And so am I!! They are very knowledgeable about the food varieties and our dogs have always loved what was suggested. Especially the Stella & Chewys! One time in particular is worth mentioning as it describes how much they care for the dog and human customers... I am coming from CH thinking the store is open till 7. I had run out of dog food that morning and needed some more. Arrived in Hillsborough at 6:30, for some strange reason I called just to verify they were open till 7. The person answering kindly told me they were closed at 6, but since I was just around the corner and needed food, stop in anyway, she'd be glad to help. Wow! That's customer service and caring that my dogs would be well fed that night. This is a quality food store, so if Ol' Roy is what is served most nights, then you might not find what you're looking for. But! You get what you pay for. Our dogs eat a mix of the Acana and Stella & Chewys. They are very healthy, lush coats, and super happy. Thank you ladies for offering another wonderful environment in Hillsborough! read more

We came to Hillsborough for the first time today to explore the local town! Had a great lunch at mystery brewery with our dog and then walked into Paws at the Corner to see what they had. When we walked in our dog accidentally knocked over a glass bottle of some type of natural oil for fleas/ticks (a glass bottle on a low shelf in a pet store???) we apologized and helped the employee clean the glass up. We proceeded to shop around, bought shampoo and a treat...and when checking out told the employee "you can charge us for what she broke" thinking a nice local store would say "oh no...it's okay, we shouldn't have put glass bottles on the bottom shelf." But instead the employee went to get another bottle to scan, and rang us up charging us $25 for the oil our dog broke on accident!! I have worked retail for years and don't think that was the best protocol for an accident....but, Oh well.... Otherwise would have given this adorable pet store 5 stars. read more

The owner is definitely very knowledgable about pet foods and training. Her beautiful Goldens are in the store most days and they are gentle and well-behaved and clearly very healthy, so the proof's in the pudding, as it were. We've been on a bit of a journey to the right food for our 2yo Weimaraner mix- most mainstream foods give him elimination problems (and nobody likes those). The owner of Paws at the Corner has spent lots of time helping us figure out the best food for him. She always remembers us when we come back, too, even when it's been a month or more. Because she has strong opinions about animal health and feeding, she doesn't carry low-end foods, so this may not be your best source if you feed your animals on a tight budget. Even then, the selection of supplements/treats/leashes/beds/etc is great. Simply put, I feel lucky to have PatC in my town. read more

I couldn't be more pleased with this home grown pet store, owners and staff. They know my pets and their health issues, and have always been very patient listening and helping when they can. Our youngest girl (9 years old) has suffered from food allergies since she was 9 weeks old. We have gone from veterinary diet to holistic diet and round the bend again and again. One suggestion from an employee at Paws at the Corner, and we are on the right road. Not only have they helped me, but I know that in purchasing my pets food, probiotics, and other items there, I am giving them the best. Just as satisfying is knowing we are helping to support our local retail community. We can go to the park, go shopping at Paws at the Corner, and have lunch outside at a pet friendly restaurant right next door. Does not get much better than this!! read more

I love this place. They are always incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. The food is high end, a) but the price of it compared to the big stores is not really that different, unless you find a sale and b) our animals shouldn't be eating crap anyway--it'll save you money at the vet in the long run. The cool thing is--they were encouraging me to give a grain-free diet to my cats, and they allowed me to switch cat foods mid-bag, which the chains would have never done, so any price difference was made up for right there! Shop local as often as you can, folks---it's the only way small shops will ever be able to compete with the big dawgs and eventually offer better deals to you. read more
