Didn't want to get catch up in all the local, trendy eateries near GW for our sons graduation. Instead, we found this place that had strong reviews and an interesting and well priced menu. As with any new place, especially for a special occasion, we knew we were at the right place when our amazing appetizers were served. The main course was so fresh, so homemade, so much flavor. Daughter who lives in DC says she will return as will we on our next visit. We stopped in for cocktails and a snack. I love charcuterie/cheese plates and will often order them in lieu of meals. The selection was simple but well-curated, and we ended up with two cow's milk cheeses and the prosciutto. The plate came with roasted red and sweet peppers and microgreens, served with bruschetta-style bread. It was absolutely fantastic. The interior decor is classy, modern-rustic, and comfortable, and we loved the artwork on the menu and the servers' shirts. The service was lovely - thank you, Kevin. I've been here twice and both times I've been very impressed. The menu isn't overwhelmingly large, but the pizzas are unique and have very tasty ingredients. The cocktails are pretty good, too. Happy hour everyday is a plus. Sitting outside is the best. read more

Went here for a late date night last night and was pleasantly surprised. We came in around 10:20 and there wasnt much of a crowd but we sat at the bar so we wouldn't have to inconvenience servers that were trying to close out. I started with the Shift Drink which is a tequila cocktail which apart from being delicious is also pretty to look at. My boyfriend had the PBR-o which is really just a beer and shot combo although I'd originally thought it would be some mixed beer drink (lol). They have a chicken liver pâté special with red onion jam that is the perfect appetizer. I had to stop myself from grabbing another slice of bread otherwise I wouldn't have any room for our pizza. If you're going to get any pizza here get the 'Nduja Really Want to Hurt Me!! I guess 'nduja is like a spicy sausage (chorizo?) but it is sooo good, especially paired with the caramelized onions and creamy ricotta. All in all it was a great experience. Would definitely return to try some of the pastas. read more

Just left Little Coco's after having a not so pleasant experience. I stopped by on my way home from picking up groceries to order a cheese pizza. As I stood at the front counter waiting for someone to recognize me, 3 employees passed me, 1 proceeded to take a detailed telephone order, 1 when to see to a seated couple, and the 3rd just passed by. There were only a few customers in the restaurant. No one asked if I wanted to be seated or place an order. No one seemed to notice me at all. Finally, I asked if I could place an order. No question, the food is great, we have eaten there many times. However, this is not how I expect to be treated. I am not sure when and if I will ever go back. read more

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. I've had dinner and drinks here twice and will definitely be going back for more. First, the service is friendly and attentive without being pretentious. Fortunately, this is not one of those "have-you-dined-with-us-before-we-recommend-4-5-plates-per-person" type places. Second, you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. Literally everything is amazing, including the cocktails. We were a group of 5 and everyone was very pleased with their food. We shared the fried baby artichokes and the citrus salad which were full of flavor. I have a cacio e pepe fetish and was super happy with it - simple but so comforting. The caulifornication pizza was also a hit, as was the short rib entree. Finally, we had to have dessert and that was the cherry on top - I have a passion for passion fruit and they happened to have a divine passion fruit curd dessert that was perfection. I had such high hopes for this restaurant. My friends and I visited as a group of 4 for dinner on Saturday 3/10/18 at around 9pm. I looked at the reservations available b4 getting there and saw that there were tables available at 9, however I didn't reserve since I live 2 min away. When we got there the hostess was so unfriendly we should have probably cut our losses and moved on but we agreed to wait for a table for 1/2hr. During our wait, 20 of the 30+ minuets we waited there were 2 empty tables in plain view. But we patiently waited at the bar without complaint. The bartender was brash and short. Anytime we ordered a drink, it felt like we were bothering her. At the 30 minute mark, I inquired with hostess how much longer our wait would be and her reply was "I said it would be at least 30 minutes. There's at least in table with a check on it" Utterly rude. I walked back to the bar and about 10 min later she informed us that a table was ready. When I went to sit at the booth, there was a sharp nail sticking out and it scratched my leg pretty badly (it was bleeding and I used my own bandaid). The hostess was standing right there and barely said anything. She leaned in to feel the nail as if I was over exaggerating and still barely said anything resembling an apology. I just let it slide since I was still trying to salvage the experience with my group of friends. The waitress was really awesome. She really tried and we appreciated her for it - she comped us 2 appetizers for the injury caused by the nail. The food was decent as well, except I ordered a vegan pizza, they put cheese on it and then replaced the order. When the bill came, they charged me for 2 pizzas. So we had to ask for one to be removed from the bill. Like I said, really wanted to love this place. But in order to warrant return visits, restaurants must have great service. You can serve the best food in the world, but if you can't treat your paying customers right, forget it. I won't spend my money at little coco ever again. And you should think twice about spending yours there too. read more

Nice little place for a last minute dinner plan. The food was great I got the fried pizza and a coke. The pizza was shaped like a doughnut and had an infused beer taste that was delicious, there was cheese,marinara, and some type of vegetable inside it was so good super rich and thick. Also shared the balsamic steak that was $32 and also a lamb pasta. the steak was worth the price and it comes with crispy potatoes! The lamb pasta was creamy and the lamb was cooked perfectly. The only thing I didn't like about the place was the service waited about 10 minutes for our waitress to arrive at our table then our waitress comes and asks us what we wanted to drink so she listed our drinks and left. She came back another 10 mintues later we ordered our appetizer with the drinks. So our friend asked what has happened to our appetizer after another 10 minutes she apologies then gets our orders for our entrees. The entrees come out before the appetizer and she said she would take it off the bills so we were a little satisfied . At the end of our meal our friend gets up to give her his card so that she can charge it while he goes to the bathroom. He comes back to find the bill to $119 without a recipe just the tip paper. So he asks where's the bill with the prices because he knew it wasn't right. She charged us for the appetizer without telling us and without showing us the entire bill. The worst waitress I've ever had never even asked me how the food was barley spoke to us and she wasn't even busy with tables. read more

Originally came here for the cacio e pepe and the arancini, both of which are good but nothing to write home about. However their sandwiches and cocktails are freaking amazing. My boyfriend and I tried this restaurant for dinner on a Thursday evening, we arrived around 7pm and were seated immediately. The beer and wine selection is very good (my boyfriend is Italian and a professional brewer, but even his high standards were met - they offer Italian craft beers that he said are unusual to see in the US.) He ordered the Almond 22 pink IPA from Italy, and I ordered a red wine (Castello de Meleto Rosso Toscano) which was excellent. We split an artichoke bruschetta appetizer, which was very good, strong on the lemon oil. He ordered the crispy porchetta, which was extremely crispy and he said overall excellent (again, his standards are high so this is unusually high praise). His only request was that he would have liked more of the grilled broccoli rabe. I ordered the black tagliettelli con frutti de mare, which came with a generous portion of large shrimp, clams, and a small amount of white fish. It was overly salty (I like salt, but this was too much even for me) but otherwise excellent. The pasta tasted freshly made, the seafood was well prepared, not over-cooked as it often is. The fact that the dish contained shrimp was not on the menu, nor was the white fish identified (I prefer to avoid shrimp for sustainability reasons, but I eat other shellfish.) The waiter offered to return the dish but once it was served I didn't want it thrown away (even more unsustainable!) so I ate it and the shrimp was very good. We ordered a cannoli dessert, which is also freshly made (the pastry was still crispy - sometimes in other places it is prefilled and gets soggy) and my boyfriend ordered a grappa appertif, which he said was extremely good. Overall I give 5 stars and plan to return to try the pizza. It's wonderful to see this restaurant open in Petworth and I hope to support them. read more

The cannoli were amazingly good! I was absolutely taken by surprise, by the sheer tastiness of these little rolls of joy. However, the pizza, which I had actually come for, was rather bland. It was missing salt and pepper and was just underwhelming. My tastebuds were not jumping in circles, as they have been with other pizza that I've had. It was a surprising combination of flavors (I had the beetroot pizza), and the list of pizzas does show off an interest in trying out new things, but the pure blandness of the taste was not what I had expected. read more

I'm updating my review because the owner contacted me and apologized for the temperature and said they would do a better job in the future making sure its more comfortable. I'm glad the owner is paying attention to yelp and other social media. So regarding the meal itself it was good. I was expecting great pizza since the pizza game in DC has really been notched up---some may like this pizza but i did not. It was very under cooked. But i'm a wood burning oven pizza snob so I should have known not to order. I'll stick with Timber Pizza. The Cacio e pepe had great flavor but the texture was a bit dry. No one does it as good as Red Hen. The drinks were GREAT and reasonably prized. Nice neighborhood place. read more

Visited for the first time on Mothers' Day with family members, including my grand daughter. What a delightful addition to the neighborhood. Staff was incredibly friendly and the service was top notch. They accommodated my granddaughter's (think Sally in When Harry Met Sally) to perfection! We all choose from the brunch menu---steak and eggs, waffles and omelettes and all were delicious. The desserts were to die for and the chocolate covered strawberries for all the Moms were a special and unexpected treat. We will be back, with and without the little one.. It is the top family family friendly restaurant we have been to in recent years in the Columbia Heights neighborhood! read more

Prices are reasonable for DC and the pizzas are really interesting and good (with the exception of the fried pizza, which, despite being a "specialty," is mostly just a glorified funnel cake). Wow! Only a few days after opening, and not only was the service friendly and efficient but the food was AMAZING as well. The cacio e pepe ("cheese and pepper") pasta was a religious experience--fresh and perfectly al dente. We also loved the ravioli, tuna tartare, arancini, and triple gelati. I am not at all worried about this place. We'll have to try a pizza next time (though I can't imagine it beats Timber). I also feel like this place sits somewhere between $$ and $$$, particularly regarding how some might interpret more dollar signs as implying a more formal atmosphere i.e. it actually seemed relatively casual. read more

If your like REAL Italian food you have to try this place. Everything was well thought out and is wonderful. The staff are fun and helpful and provide great service not to mention the place looks great. The lighting inside, and especially outside, is awesome! They have a great drink selection that offers something for everyone. The prices are more than reasonable and the quality of food and service is high, plus the owner is this great looking gal that really knows her stuff.
