We had a fun meal. Our focus was on the small plates which we ordered and shared - 4 in total, but plenty of food for our date night. The selections were both interesting and traditional - a combination of old Oaxacan classics and modern Mexican faire. Plenty of opportunity to broaden your gastronomic range! Liberty, our server, was fun and engaging and full of helpful hints. We dined outdoors and the weather was perfect for it. Great view of the incline railway too. This was spotted by my wife and she immediately added it to our must try list while visiting. This is a cool establishment with awesome, young and hip waiters. We had our two young girls and they were very understanding and accommodating (high chair and coloring sheets). The menu is interesting but to be honest, we enjoyed almost none of our items. The cocktails were very meh. Not awful but not great. The food is really where this place lacks in my opinion. No one was a fan of almost any dish we got. The puffy tacos with redfish were likely the worst. Under seasoned and close to being gross. The catfish dish was so so. The fish itself was good but the grits were hard and the green tomatoes were so sour that they overpowered everything else. The ribs tried but I'd suggest going to a legit BBQ joint for real meats like this. The potatoes were greasy and mostly bland. I'd rank this our least favorite meal in the city. Interestingly enough. We were just at a Michelin star restaurant less than a week before and had the complete opposite experience. read more

Little Coyote is absolutely charming. The spacious patio offers gorgeous views of Lookout Mountain and the Incline Railway, with lush green trees stretching as far as the eye can see. As someone from Arizona, being surrounded by so much greenery felt like a treat all on its own. The tequila selection is impressive, ranging from affordable pours to bottles that cost hundreds of dollars. I stayed on the lower end of the menu and still found something smooth, strong, and exactly what I was looking for. I started with the Gulf Red Fish Picadillo Puffy Taco. The shell lived up to its name--light, crispy, and airy, with just enough chew to give it character. The fish was fresh, flaky, and perfectly cooked, but the real star was the avocado crema. It added so much richness and flavor that every bite felt balanced and satisfying. Next was the Stuffed Avocado topped with brisket. Calling it "stuffed" is an understatement. The avocado was overflowing with filling, and the brisket practically tumbled out onto the plate. The red chimichurri mayo added a tangy punch, while the crispy tortilla strips brought a welcome crunch and texture to every bite. It was hearty, flavorful, and easily one of my favorite dishes of the evening. The Scallop Aguachile was bright, fresh, and beautifully presented. The sweetness from the strawberries and peaches paired surprisingly well with the delicate scallops, while the pecans added a nice crunch. My only minor critique is that I was hoping for a little more heat from the serrano peppers. A touch more spice would have taken it from great to unforgettable. Between the beautiful setting, creative menu, excellent service, and thoughtful flavors, Little Coyote delivered another memorable Chattanooga dining experience. Hey guys, I'm not sure what happened today. The service was excellent, but the food was substandard. I'm not quite sure how these guys received the prestigious Michelin star. First of all, everything was too salty. Our Charro beans were too salty or slaw is too salty.... And our ribs were too sweet. We also ordered the half chicken which was extremely dry. After reading the reviews, we drove 50 miles to try this place, and left disappointed. Sometimes you win sometimes you lose. We lost today. read more

Service was great, vibes were good and the smell reminded me of a Texas smokehouse. The space is small, but not so small you feel cramped or that you can hear the next table's conversation. Like another commented stated, the food was just meh for me. The brisket, while initially good, ended up being majority just fat which made the $$ price tag for it was disappointing. Our sides didn't come out with the main and we had to ask our server about them. Not sure if that's standard, but it took a minute after the ask for them to hit the table, so I have a feeling they were either sold to another table or not rung in. The servers were very friendly, helpful, and attentive explaining family style eating and giving suggestions. The presentation of dishes and the smells were beautiful, and i enjoyed the cocktails. Maybe this place is too sophisticated for me, but to me the food fell short. There were some very good dishes, but more of them were just kind of there. This is not a place that would cross my mind to visit again because we have some nice places that are this same price point or more affordable that have better food and a less confusing menu. We were visiting Chattanooga and decided to try Little Coyote for dinner, and it did not disappoint! From start to finish, the experience was outstanding. We had a large group, and our server Kade was incredibly knowledgeable, helping us figure out the best way to order since everything is served family-style. We ended up with the perfect amount of food! The brisket was unbelievably tender and juicy, the ribs literally fell off the bone and were packed with flavor, and the sausages were delicious. Every meat was so tender you could cut it with a fork. To top it all off, the general manager came over after our 6-year-old fell asleep at the table and kindly offered her a blanket. That thoughtful gesture really stood out and made us feel so welcomed. And don't skip dessert--the banana pudding ice cream was absolutely incredible! We loved everything on our plates! The fried catfish was crispy on the outside and just melted in my mouth when I bit into it. The grits with the tomatoes blended perfectly with the fried catfish. The best part may have been then ice cream, which was incredibly creamy and tasted excellent. The staff was great and friendly, and the manager checked with everyone several times during our dinner. We were there for an early dinner, so it hadn't filled up yet and was not too loud at all. We would absolutely go back! read more

We had absolutely no issues with the service, and he did a fantastic job throughout the evening. We came in on a Thursday around 6:15-6:30 PM. The restaurant is labeled as "family style," encouraging guests to share multiple dishes among the table. We ordered the following: DRINKS Espresso Martini - $16 - 5/5 Very tasty and not overly sweet like many espresso martinis I've had elsewhere in town. My only complaint is that it felt overpriced for the portion size. Ranch Water Cocktail - $12 - 5/5 Great flavor with a nice slow burn on the finish. Not your typical ranch water, but still very solid. Margarita - $11 - 2/5 We asked the bar to remake this because the original lacked the flavor profile you'd expect from a good margarita. They were kind enough to do so. FOOD Smoked Brisket Enchiladas / Texas Red Gravy - $16.50 - 2/5 The brisket itself was delicious and cooked until perfectly tender. However, the portion was surprisingly small -- only three enchiladas roughly the size of a hot dog in diameter and about 3 inches long. Unfortunately, the "red gravy" completely overwhelmed the dish. It was extremely oily/greasy, and once separated from the meat and tortilla, the smell and texture were off-putting. The brisket was really the only saving grace here. Fried Mississippi Catfish / Green Tomato / Ramps / Goat Cheese Grits - $26 - 1/5 The catfish filets resembled fried chicken tenders more than catfish and lacked seasoning in the breading. Thankfully they weren't dry, and the cook itself was fine. The biggest issue was the green tomato component, which tasted overwhelmingly pickled and completely dominated the entire dish. Everything ended up tasting heavily of dill/pickle brine, which was disappointing since this was the dish we were most excited to try. Cowboy Beans / Smoked Pork / Chilis / Guajillo Butter - $7.75 - 1/5 Presentation looked appetizing at first and resembled a rich baked bean side, but the flavor was overwhelmingly sweet with another heavy layer of oil/grease throughout the dish. We were instructed to mix everything together, but after one bite I personally couldn't continue eating it. Smashed Potatoes / Garlic Mayo - $7.75 - 2/5 Presentation was mediocre. The potatoes appeared pre-boiled, smashed, and over-fried in oil that tasted old or overheated, leaving a lingering bitter flavor. The garlic mayo on the side didn't really elevate the dish. With a lighter fry and better oil management, these probably could have been much better. House-Made Tortillas The texture and cook on these were genuinely great. They tasted like real fresh corn tortillas -- soft, fresh, and authentic. My only complaint was a slightly strange smell. As a party of three, we expected that ordering a small dish, two sides, and a larger entrée would be enough food while still leaving room for dessert, but the portions felt surprisingly small considering the pricing. We made sure to pay our bill first because we still wanted to tip our waiter appropriately before sharing any feedback. Again, Cade was fantastic and provided excellent service throughout the night. This was a fun evening out with a couple of friends. Tapas anyone? This is all served family style and meant to share. The outside doesn't look impressive but the inside is warm and cozy. Our server Chris was spot on throughout the entire evening. So here is my issue 4 people 2 drinks each and a 300.00 bill. The food was good but not 300.00 good and portions honestly just not worth the price. However most would disagree as our friends this was their umpteenth time ( she can't have gluten) so this restaurant is a great option and the line outside waiting to get in was packed when we left. We walked in early on a Friday to sit on the sun deck on a beautiful day. Kayla was our server and offered to curate our meal. Of course, we said yes! She asked us a few questions and got started. She did an amazing job selecting the drinks, tastes and pace of the meal. First drinks were a Margarita and a Frozen and Famous. Excellent starting choices; light and refreshing. First food dish was mussels in a yummy wine butter herbed sauce w sides of salsa, aioli, pickled squash and tortillas. Next drinks were Palomas with different tequilas. That was fun to taste the impact of different agave types. The associate who delivered the drinks gave us the background of the tequilas. These folks know their spirits. Last round of food was the brisket, heirloom tomato salad and a side of roasted acorn squash. Everything balanced within and across. Brisket was ridiculously tender, smoky and seasoned just right. Mmmm. We ended with two more cocktails, Core Memory and a sipping tequila w orange slices, house made tajin and salt. They even brought out the tequila bottle and gave us some background. I Ubered to St Elmo Ave. to try a different restaurant down and the road and they were closed for a private event so I caught my Uber driver before he pulled out and he was nice enough to drive me to the Little Coyote and I'm so glad he did! What a unique and diverse menu. They have tapas and entrees. Ryan was my bartender. When I first sat down he noticed I had a phone charging block so he informed me that an outlet with a USB port was directly in front of my seat under the bar along with a coat hook. For a drink I ordered a Paloma. I ordered 2 versions of the same meal; stuffed avocado with carnitas and a second serving with brisket. I also ordered what turned out to a LARGE bowl of mantequilla refried beans. Both tapas meals were served with bottomless small corn tortillas, red smoky sauce, queso and pickles. Outstanding! It was fun to mix and match the different sauces with with the meats and avocado. I ordered each of my tapas meals separately and when the brisket arrived they provided a new plate of at least a dozen small hot corn tortillas. This was an easy 5 stars for me. The menu is a bit difficult for my picky palette but I got by. Everything was extremely fresh and the drinks were interesting. They even have a couple of frozen drinks! We got the sausage of the day (kielbasa), queso con carnitas, yucca fries, and steak fajitas. Everything came with corn tortillas that were nice and fresh tasting. I was very impressed by the quality of the ingredients. The steak fajitas did have a salsa over them that I didn't like, but I knew I'd be having a tough time here. If you are not picky, this place is fantastic. Kayla was our server and she was amazing!! Food was exceptional! We are foodies! We tried all of the small plates plus the brisket, ribs, and refried beans. The ribs were super and so tender. Brisket was amazingly tender and we smoke our own. The endive salad is a must try!! Oxtail soppas yum!! We can't wait to go back. I loved the outside seating area, we were wet from the heavy rains and the heaters were on plus blankets for the kids. Kind of like a California style restaurant. Second time back here. Wasn't sure if it was going to be as good as we remembered. Somehow, it was better (didn't think that was possible). Truly one of the best meals I've ever had, definitely the best restaurant in TN. Service is always on point, the host remembered us and our server Chloe was AMAZING!!
