    Veggie fajitas with chicken

Dined here this weekend and had a good experience. Our server was a little quiet and my fajitas could have been larger, but the food was good quality and service was quick.

CHIPS AND SALSA ARE NOT BOTTOMLESS! They make this clear on the menu that the first round of chips is free but after that each basket is additional, I believe $2.99. Food tasted great and waitress was very kind, I just wish the chips and salsa came with refills like every other Mexican place. I got the Chori Pollo with double rice instead of beans which tasted great. The bathrooms were very clean too! I probably will not be returning though because the prices are the same as other Mexican restaurants yet you don't get refills on chips and salsa. Good food though!

Don't go if you want chips and salsa. They only give you one chips and salsa and ask you if you want more and it's an additional $3.99. The salsa portion was small too. I got the combination 14 Burrito and enchilada with rice and beans and it was pretty good not the biggest ever but it was worth the price

    Burrito

How on earth is this atrocity considered a burrito. Extremely disappointing. When I asked the servers why they gave me two enchiladas they said it was a burrito, I said burritos are not cover in enchilada sauce. So they remade it and god it's even worse. It's just stewed chicken in a flour tortilla. The rest of the food had no flavor and they did not even have salt on the tables to help. Sad.

Amazing food. Authentic and delicious. We got to try food we never had before highly recommend.

    Chicken Fajita Quesadilla

I decided to try this restaurant after reading Yelp reviews and craving Mexican one day. My daughter and I went in for lunch. I ordered a small queso to go with my chips and salsa. They don't have the best chips or salsa. The chips are super hard and the salsa could use some onions and maybe cilantro. The salsa is just a bit lacking in flavor. However, the queso is delicious. I'm a big fan of chicken fajita quesadillas so I tried theirs. It was also pretty good. I liked the restaurant well enough that I went back with my mom and ordered another quesadilla. She ordered their chicken tortilla soup which was also good. However, she had recently had some dental work and was unable to eat their chips. It is really like eating rocks. She was also not of fan of my fried ice cream but I enjoyed it. The service was also decent and I don't have any complaints. They are quick and efficient but not necessarily overly friendly. Please keep in mind that I lived in Nashville and there was a Mexican restaurant there that had the BEST salsa, chips and quesadillas I've ever had. So, I'm a bit of a harsh critic about my chips and salsa. I've been searching for something comparable here in Chattanooga without success.

    Tacos (already ate one!)

We enjoyed dinner at Molcajete on our most recent visit to Chattanooga. Very good guacamole!! We enjoyed the chips and salsa - we always appreciate firm, dry chips. The carnitas soft tacos were very flavorful and the beer was cold - a nice combo. Jorge was a very attentive waiter, as well.

Service was great! Food was horrible! I ordered a taco salad and the ground meat was unseasoned and watery. The salad was a soggy mess.

We had our two young girls and they were very understanding and accommodating (high chair and coloring sheets). The menu is interesting but to be honest, we enjoyed almost none of our items. The cocktails were very meh. Not awful but not great. The food is really where this place lacks in my opinion. No one was a fan of almost any dish we got. The puffy tacos with redfish were likely the worst. Under seasoned and close to being gross. The catfish dish was so so. The fish itself was good but the grits were hard and the green tomatoes were so sour that they overpowered everything else. The ribs tried but I'd suggest going to a legit BBQ joint for real meats like this. The potatoes were greasy and mostly bland. I'd rank this our least favorite meal in the city. Interestingly enough. We were just at a Michelin star restaurant less than a week before and had the complete opposite experience.

Upon arrival, a friendly host found us comfortable booth seating behind the bar. The waitress not only answered our food allergy related questions pertaining to certain dish prep but the manager came over to our table to assure us that she would be double checking our order to make sure there was no allergen cross contamination. Such a kind, thoughtful gesture! Mom and I ordered the sampler to split - a huge tray filed with delish gluten free chips, a delish bowl salsa verde, a delish bowl of homemade guacamole, and a delish bowl of homemade cheese sauce. For my lunch, I got two of my favorite tacos on their menu still, the California Club ones, large tacos filled with roasted chicken, a tasty like crema, and avocado. Not as hungry as I, Mom got an Oy Vey Taco, another longstanding goodie, a brisket based taco, which she enjoyed. Our later than planned Wednesday lunch was perfect.

It took a while for a server to see us, but then it was fast to get our drinks as well as food once orders were placed. Tacos were alright, Cali club was messy & drippy. Homeboy was good but I don't think I'd get the spicy version again - not overly spice just overly sauced. The appetizer trio was good, but seemed expensive at $14. Overall the place is nice, but a little expensive for tacos.

Decor is simple, but plenty of seating and even plenty of large tables for large groups. We were seated promptly and given salsa & fresh warm chips right away. Salsa is something we're particular about. This was great salsa! A little more cilantro than I prefer, but still edible for me. The heat was perfect- between a mild & medium- maybe closer to medium, but didn't make my mouth burn after eating a bunch. The tortilla chips were white corn, thin and crisp. Not salted, so I salted each of mine before dipping in the salsa. Also, they bring a bottle of salsa and 2 bowls, so we each had our own bowl for double-dipping. We both ordered chimichangas. He ordered the ground beef, I ordered shredded chicken. They came with cheese sauce poured over, and served with refried beans that also had a little cheese melted on top (I really liked that!), Spanish rice, and a pile of shredded lettuce with pico, guacamole & sour cream. I really liked how the chimichanga was just a single one and wasn't too huge. It was still more than I could eat! But I'd rather have a reasonable size meal at a reasonable price, instead of a huge meal for a huge price, that you could never finish. I ate 1/2 the beans & rice and maybe 1/3 of the chimichanga. That was a very good chimichanga. It was packed with meat! And the meat was juicy & tender. I loved the cheese sauce on top. Our server was working very hard to serve quite a few tables. It took him a while to take our order after bringing our drinks. Because he also had a huge party of 20, that he was serving. He was nice and our food came out very soon after we ordered. The next time we travel here to Chattanooga, we plan to come back!
