Everything... this was my third visit to this restaurant, and the first one was great. My last two have been disaster! Tonight I ordered a dish that was unacceptable in that when I cut into my shrimp, chimichanga, water poured out or something similar to the consistency. It was disgusting, so I sent it back. The manager explained that this was better or oil. Lol. I cook with both of the above very often. It was not. I think that it was frozen shrimp inside the tortilla. My dish was steaming, and was very hot when it was served, which lend me to believe that it was in the microwave. My next order was the fajitas. I ordered shrimp, chicken and steak. Not one time did my waiter replace my chips, nor act as though I was an important guest. It was one of the worst experiences that I have had in some time. My bill was exorbitant because I ordered margaritas along with my food. I will never be back. I ordered margaritas, because I chose to drink instead of eat since the food was so bad. This place is one step above Taco Bell in my opinion. In addition, I left a very nice cash tip. This was not due to the fact that the service was great, it was because I felt guilty for sending back my first order. read more

Dropped in for a little dinner & was absolutely delighted with the service & quality of our food. Margarita our server & Jessica our bartender were the cherry on top of our great experience. CHIPS AND SALSA ARE NOT BOTTOMLESS! They make this clear on the menu that the first round of chips is free but after that each basket is additional, I believe $2.99. Food tasted great and waitress was very kind, I just wish the chips and salsa came with refills like every other Mexican place. I got the Chori Pollo with double rice instead of beans which tasted great. The bathrooms were very clean too! I probably will not be returning though because the prices are the same as other Mexican restaurants yet you don't get refills on chips and salsa. Good food though! read more

How on earth is this atrocity considered a burrito. Extremely disappointing. When I asked the servers why they gave me two enchiladas they said it was a burrito, I said burritos are not cover in enchilada sauce. So they remade it and god it's even worse. Came into Chatanooga to get my car serviced and decided on this place due to Yelp reviews. Usually they don't lead me astray, but this one did... We had a couple of beers, chips/salsa, pulled chicken Chimichanga, and a chicken fajita quesadilla. Should all be pretty straight forward mex food. Not our experience. The chimi was far from crispy (not properly fried) and the quesadilla chicken was hard and chewy (reheated) and in a folded over soft taco tortilla. Our experience here was very bad and 1 star, but the service (attentiveness and attitude) was amazing. I don't return food, so no second chance was given to "redo" the food. I hope if others still venture here that the chef is on his game that day. read more

I decided to try this restaurant after reading Yelp reviews and craving Mexican one day. My daughter and I went in for lunch. I ordered a small queso to go with my chips and salsa. They don't have the best chips or salsa. The chips are super hard and the salsa could use some onions and maybe cilantro. The salsa is just a bit lacking in flavor. However, the queso is delicious. I'm a big fan of chicken fajita quesadillas so I tried theirs. It was also pretty good. I liked the restaurant well enough that I went back with my mom and ordered another quesadilla. She ordered their chicken tortilla soup which was also good. However, she had recently had some dental work and was unable to eat their chips. It is really like eating rocks. She was also not of fan of my fried ice cream but I enjoyed it. The service was also decent and I don't have any complaints. They are quick and efficient but not necessarily overly friendly. Please keep in mind that I lived in Nashville and there was a Mexican restaurant there that had the BEST salsa, chips and quesadillas I've ever had. So, I'm a bit of a harsh critic about my chips and salsa. I've been searching for something comparable here in Chattanooga without success. read more

The waitressing staff was extremely kind and considerate. We shared the Molcajete Mexicano and it was amazing! Very flavorful and made to perfection. My only suggestion is to use more comfortable seating. I have a bad back and they use un-cushioned wood and metal chairs. read more

I can say that the restaurant is nicely decorated, with a pleasing colour scheme. The handmade booths are attractive and comfortable. I noticed that one of the owners was in the kitchen monitoring the work, which is a good sign. The chips were light, warm, and crisp. The salsa was very fresh and not overly spicy. The guacamole was about the best I have ever had at a mexican restaurant, with chunks of fresh vegetables. We ordered chile rellenos, enchiladas with verde sauce, and a spinach/mushroom quesadilla. The chile rellenos was very light, and thankfully, not heavily battered. It's just the perfect amount of spice and cheese. The enchiladas same thing. The typical Mexican rice side-dish was far from typical. It had fresh vegetables in yellow rice, and it was worth eating. The owner stopped by our table and explained that he orders a higher quality beef and chicken than most of the restaurants in town and always uses fresh, not frozen vegetables. He also makes their chirozo from scratch every day. He pays more for the quality because he wants to present a quality product to his customers. It shows in the taste. The chef is a little guy who speaks little English, but I ran into him on the way to the bathroom, and praised him for the meal and the hands-down best flan I have ever had in a restaurant. They make them fresh every other day. The restaurant is clean and had a very pleasant fragrance when we were first seated. The bathroom décor is quality, but just a single stool, so be prepared to wait. We will most certainly go back. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful with suggestions. read more

My family and I came here Monday for dinner and to celebrate my birthday . I decided to get the Hawaiian pollo (I think that's what it's called) it had chorizo , chicken , shrimp , onions and peppers, cheese and pineapples stuffed inside a actually pineapple. Four stars for one reason, after your first, extremely small cup of salsa and chips, they say they will charge for the next round. I've never heard of that in 59 years and honestly almost got up and left. That's the world we live in! Otherwise, I had the Mexican quesadilla and it was great. Really tasty and the winner this evening. Ask for some hot sauce for the tacos to give it a better kick. Would be a 10 but missed that kick still. Service was standard. Nothing to write home about. Came here with some friends for tacos and margaritas and Molcajete did not disappoint! They've pitchers of margaritas you can order for your group (or yourself if you're really brave and have a DD). While we waited on our food we sipped on yummy margs and ate chips with salsa and queso. I love love loved their queso- it's so creamy and satisfying. Neither the salsa nor queso was spicy. When the food was delivered it smelled amazing and was sizzling hot. I got their vegetarian fajitas for about 8 bucks and it came with 2 huge plates of food! Everything was delicious and the service was great. We had an amazing start to our evening here and will definitely be coming back for more margs and queso soon. read more
