Lake Forest, Ca. This business is one of several in this pod mall where I charge my car. There are several restaurants here and this is the most friendly and welcoming. One of the establishments here refused to acknowledge my presence and I had to leave. The lunch here is expensive but it's pretty good. My small piece of salmon was delicious, it came in a bento box. The sushi roll that came with it was so so. The fish was that ground up stuff, it tasted ok but didn't look that great. The box also features a small salad and some rice, making for a decent lunch. There's plenty of parking in the lot, which is always a plus. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall at the end of the building. There was a bit of a wait, unfortunately, you're not able to RSVP. When we got there, we put our name on the list and about 20 minutes later, we were called to come in. They recommend that you leave any strollers outside since the dining area is so small. We had to do the spicy tuna on crispy rice. This is soooo delicious and I could seriously inhale these. We ordered so many rolls: sashimi rolls, cajun rolls, seared pepper salmon, baja yellowtail, tuna lover, aloha, and holy cow. My favorite roll was holy cow, hands down. Both times I enjoyed my food. They do offer some lunch specials but be prepared to pay full price if you're just wanting specific rolls. For 2 crunch rolls and edamame it was 35 bucks. They also charge you for spicy mayo which most places I go to do not charge for this. Overall, the location is in a good spot with plenty of parking. The best chicken karaage OF MY LIFE. The meat is so tender, juicy, and flavorful. The skin is perfectly crisp. I scraped the roof of my mouth with it, but I don't care. I would do it again. A little squeeze of lemon to cut the tasty fat, and a perfectly sized side dish of creamy dressing complete this winner of an appetizer. My son ordered the house udon, while my daughter opt'd for the beef version. Both agreed that the portion size was perfect and the broth was savory. My hubs and I both got combination bento boxes. Salmon teriyaki & spicy tuna roll (with extra eel sauce on the side) for me and beef teriyaki & spicy tuna roll for the mister. We liked that we got a full roll portion (8 pieces) vs the dinky half/4 piece sizes you sometimes see at other sushi spots. What we ordered: Philadelphia roll- I didn't try this one but my friend said it was good and everything you'd expect from a fresh Philadelphia roll. Garlic edamame- 10/10 YUMMM I never order edamame but this was such a great shareable and I loved the seasoning so much I'd definitely get it again. We came here for lunch, and I thought it was great! I got the chirashi bowl, which had a good variety of fish. I believe it had salmon, yellowtail, tuna, squid, shrimp, tamago and one or two more items I can't remember. Each piece of fish tasted fresh and even the garnishes, like the carrot and tomato, was tasty. The rice was also perfectly cooked and seasoned. For $20, I think the bowl is definitely worth it. This place is tucked toward the back of a strip shopping center. There is plenty of parking. The place is smallish and very clean. The staff all call out greetings as you come in. They bring you drinks and take your order quickly. I was here the first time on a Saturday evening. I had the combination with chicken teriyaki and salmon sashimi. This came with Miso soup, green salad, cucumber salad, steamed rice and an orange wedge. I felt the teriyaki needed more sauce. It was diced so small it was hard to pick up with chop sticks. The chicken tasted bland and lacked a nice grilled flavor. The quantity of chicken was rather small. The salmon sashimi and all other accompanying items were good. I then dropped in on a Wednesday night. This time I got the teriyaki chicken with California roll. I have the same comments about the teriyaki as last time but this time I did not care for the broccoli and carrots that came with the chicken. These were too raw for my taste. Also, the cucumbers were just bland unlike my last visit. The green salad did not have enough dressing. The California roll was good. The staff here are great. Not a fan of the chicken teriyaki. The ambiance is loud and casual so if you're looking for rolls on a casual night, this place is for you! First off, when walking in, the staff was super welcoming and they had jazz playing... so classy! Next, our server was super polite and told us about some specials, which included a negitoro roll. Last week while on a business work trip to CA, I discovered Little Ferry Sushi. I dined on a Thursday evening around 7:30 pm and was glad to see there was a waiting list for a table. I figured that is a good sign I am waiting for good sushi. I waited about 15 min for a table and noticed they do have a happy hour menu from 8- close. I got a few items off such as the spicy tuna roll, the crispy zucchini appetizer and shrimp tempura appetizer. All were very good and the dipping sauce for the zucchini was actually one of my favorites. I preferred that over the tempura sauce. Although the grilled yellowtail collar was sold out, the waiter's recommendation of the red snapper head proved to be an excellent choice. As always, the Japanese fried chicken was excellent, and the custom-made mayonnaise took it to another level. They were served with a delicious sweet onion mayo! The sashimi combo was great, and I enjoyed all the cuts. 12 pieces were assorted on a plate of the chef's choices. Presentation of the rolls were clean and easy to eat! We got the Ocean Drive roll and the Holy Cow Roll. My favorite of the two was the Ocean Drive, but I love the torched taste on the Holy Cow roll too. For a casual Japanese eatery, I think their standards for sushi are better and high quality from what we ordered!
