Very disappointing experience. I want to be clear that I did not get a chance to try the food, so this review is strictly about the customer service and ordering experience. I spent about 25 minutes trying to place a takeout order through their website, but it kept giving me problems and I couldn't get to the payment screen. I called the restaurant, explained the issue politely, and asked if I could simply place the order over the phone. I was told they only accept orders through the website and there was nothing they could do to help. Since I was nearby, I decided to drive to the restaurant and order in person. I explained again that the website wasn't working and that I already knew exactly what I wanted to order. They still refused to take my takeout order and told me they were "first come, first served" and that the employee needed to take care of the customers at the tables. What made this even more frustrating was that this is a very small restaurant with around 10 tables, and only about half of them were occupied. Most of those customers already had food in front of them. At that point, after trying online, calling, and physically driving to the restaurant, I simply left. I understand having an ordering policy, but when your own website isn't working, there should be some reasonable way to help a customer who is actively trying to give you business. One of the establishments here refused to acknowledge my presence and I had to leave. The lunch here is expensive but it's pretty good. My small piece of salmon was delicious, it came in a bento box. The sushi roll that came with it was so so. The fish was that ground up stuff, it tasted ok but didn't look that great. The box also features a small salad and some rice, making for a decent lunch. There's plenty of parking in the lot, which is always a plus. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall at the end of the building. There was a bit of a wait, unfortunately, you're not able to RSVP. When we got there, we put our name on the list and about 20 minutes later, we were called to come in. They recommend that you leave any strollers outside since the dining area is so small. We had to do the spicy tuna on crispy rice. This is soooo delicious and I could seriously inhale these. We ordered so many rolls: sashimi rolls, cajun rolls, seared pepper salmon, baja yellowtail, tuna lover, aloha, and holy cow. My favorite roll was holy cow, hands down. The next would be the seared pepper and aloha rolls. Everything tasted so fresh and the service was very efficient. I can see why this place is pretty popular. We have been wanting to try Little Ferry Sushi based on some family members' recommendations and was really impressed by how fast and efficient the service was. Our first order came out within 5 minutes, and we were completely finished with our meal in about 45 minutes total, which is perfect when you want quality sushi without a long wait. We ordered the Little Ferry Roll, Sunset Roll, Jumbo Spider Roll, and Salmon Sashimi, and everything came out fresh and well seasoned. Today's the day :) Did a phone order and was told 20 minutes- def took long to complete the orders (2 orders) I recommend you either order online or call in since they are busy. Both times I enjoyed my food. They do offer some lunch specials but be prepared to pay full price if you're just wanting specific rolls. For 2 crunch rolls and edamame it was 35 bucks. They also charge you for spicy mayo which most places I go to do not charge for this. Overall, the location is in a good spot with plenty of parking. Located in the Lake Forest Village shopping center ~ near Albertsons, but in a back corner on the far side of the plaza, is this hidden gem. When you enter, you are greeted by the warm & friendly staff. The restaurant is cozy with cute decor. The service was excellent, with attentive staff checking-in on our meal thruout the night. For appetizers, we started with some garlic edamame and yaki gyoza ~ both of which were really flavorful and kiddie approved. My son ordered the house udon, while my daughter opt'd for the beef version. Both agreed that the portion size was perfect and the broth was savory. My hubs and I both got combination bento boxes. Salmon teriyaki & spicy tuna roll (with extra eel sauce on the side) for me and beef teriyaki & spicy tuna roll for the mister. We liked that we got a full roll portion (8 pieces) vs the dinky half/4 piece sizes you sometimes see at other sushi spots. The best chicken karaage OF MY LIFE. The meat is so tender, juicy, and flavorful. The skin is perfectly crisp. I scraped the roof of my mouth with it, but I don't care. I would do it again. First off, when walking in, the staff was super welcoming and they had jazz playing... so classy! Next, our server was super polite and told us about some specials, which included a negitoro roll. We took our time ordering and got an array of nigiri, rolls and the special negitoro roll. When the food came out, we noticed that everything was absolutely beautiful. The knife skills, plating and portions seriously looked like artwork. I had to snap a few pictures! The food didn't just look beautiful, it was absolutely amazing! Last week while on a business work trip to CA, I discovered Little Ferry Sushi. I dined on a Thursday evening around 7:30 pm and was glad to see there was a waiting list for a table. I figured that is a good sign I am waiting for good sushi. I waited about 15 min for a table and noticed they do have a happy hour menu from 8- close. I got a few items off such as the spicy tuna roll, the crispy zucchini appetizer and shrimp tempura appetizer. All were very good and the dipping sauce for the zucchini was actually one of my favorites. I preferred that over the tempura sauce. I also ordered their Aloha roll and I can't remember what was in it, but I know it was a solid roll and fresh! Great experience here and would recommend if you're in the area. read more
