The karaage chicken and shrimp tempura were exceptionally crispy with delicious, flavorful batters, the gyoza came with a fantastic dipping sauce, and the spicy garlic edamame and cucumber salad balanced everything out perfectly. The hamburg steak on the omurice was surprisingly good. We are used to omurice being more ketchup forward, but the demi-glace was still flavorful. The ramen broth was very flavorful. Found Kiiro on Yelp and had to try them out. The review of 4.6 did not disappoint! The food was delicious and service was exceptional. They go above and beyond to make your dining experience wonderful. We are pescatarian/vegetarian so my husband ordered the tempura brown curry and I ordered the vegetarian ramen. Both were delicious and ingredients all so fresh! We also ordered the cucumber salad and it was very nice, a little on the sweet side for me but cucumbers were crispy and delicious. I'm always searching for good Japanese restaurants in the area. Unfortunately they are far and few between, so I was really excited when I found this relatively new place (new to me, anyway). They're located in a medium-sized shopping plaza across the street from Saddleback College. Lots of free parking is available since it's a shared lot. I was craving chicken katsu, so that's what I ordered online to go. Ordering online was very easy, and my food was ready upon pick up. It was packaged nicely and the employee at the front was friendly. The restaurant is a decent size, but I can't comment on the service since I ordered my food to go. Overall, the chicken katsu was good, not great. The chicken was a bit over-fried, and the sauce had a little hint of spice to it, although it did have good flavor. I was only able to eat half of it for lunch, and I saved the other half for my hubby. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the price. $19.95 seems a bit high for chicken katsu. Many other places charge less. I didn't feel that the dish warranted that amount. That being said, I would return to try one of their other dishes, especially the black tonkotsu ramen. I get ramen quite often from all sorts of places fairly frequently. I really enjoyed the generous portions of wakame, corn, and bean sprouts my ramen contained. I usually have to pay extra for the amount of portions I received at other restaurants so I was quite happy. The broth was just right -- not too salty or watery. Noodles were nice and chewy too. The only thing I didn't care for was the chashu. It was a bit overcooked but easy to overlook that as a detail because the rest of the product was 100. The gyoza was also tasty. What a nice little gem in Mission Viejo! My family came for a visit and we were pleasantly surprised. We were greeted by someone almost immediately and they set up a table for us on the side. The place has a cool japanese small restaurant vibe with relaxing decoration and an organized space. After being seated we were given time to find our orders and then someone took our order pretty quickly. I loved the selection of japanese dishes ranging from omurice to ramen and curry! This place is such a hidden gem! Found it while visiting area of Laguna. My wife and 3 kids came here for dinner and got 2 Chicken Curries, and 2 different Ramens. Met one of the owners, she was so friendly! But besides that, the food was great. Note to self: COME BACK HERE! It was actually so good, I was shocked that not more people were here, but maybe because it was a monday night. Also everything was so fresh. My kids devoured everything and I wanted to eat more also. Next time I come I will probably try the Hamburger omurice. After trying coco ichibana and a lot of other japanese curries.. Honestly this is such a cozy spot! We popped in on a whim but very glad we stopped by. I came with my family and we tried the ramen, garlic edamame, California rolls and vegetable croquettes. Everything was delicious, and they were very understanding about substitutions, explaining allergens, and helping us adjust spice levels (with spice on the side so we could adapt the bowls to our taste). Personally would love to see the addition of tofu to the vegetarian ramen, but otherwise it was flavorful and delicious. When I lived in Tokyo I used to love getting Japanese curry rice. It's a unique kind of curry: very different than Indian, Thai and Malay curries. But I haven't seen it offered in Japanese restaurants here until I saw it on Kiiro Cuisine's menu. So when I went here for lunch with my wife I decided to order the Combo Tempura Curry, which had shrimp tempura, kaarage, and potato croquette with rice and curry. It was as tasty as any I used to eat in Tokyo! Delicious! It really hit the spot! My wife ordered the shrimp crunch roll, with shrimp tempura and avocado wrapped in sushi rice and nori. It was great too. All the food was fresh and the portion sizes were large. During lunch, the restaurant offers a complimentary scoop of ice cream with the meal --- the strawberry ice cream with chocolate sauce was also delicious. The decor of the restaurant is simple and stylish with a chill vibe. Our server was super friendly and helpful.
