The owner Terry is always gracious in greeting me when I stumble through the front door, and James is as knowledgeable of everything stocked in the store as he is the stock market. It's still a small store but it has all the goth goods you need in a pinch. There were Nine Inch Nails shirts but only a few designs that my friend wasn't interested in. The owner or shop keeper was talking it up with some kids at the register. Reminds me of the good old days when going to certain stores was a cool experience and Ipso is one of them. They are located on the west side of Harbor Blvd, north of Chapman and in the heart of downtown so there's plenty of restaurants and eateries to choose from and walking distance to the train station and if you want to catch the bus, it's on the same street as Disneyland, just a half hour south on Harbor.

I would give zero stars for this review. Nelson prides himself as a true artisan, but that is not…read morean accurate assessment of his skill set. He regales with tales about his days doing shoe repairs for Nordstrom before striking out in his own, but his talents are quite limited. My experience proves he is no old-world cobbler. I took a pair of Stuart Weitzman Espadrilles for a resole. The finished product looked good; however, the repair was short-lived. I put the shoes on and my foot sunk through the foot bed; the entire wedge heel was crumbling beneath my feet: DRY ROT. I returned to the shop with my crumbling shoes and Nelson was nonplussed about the damage. He insisted the shoes were intact when he performed the repair but that cannot be true. Removing the old sole required handling the wedge, which obviously was already compromised. A skilled artisan would have said the shoes were beyond repair. Nelson was more concerned about the $255.00 payday he charged for the repair than the actual structure of the shoes. He stood dumbfounded and refused a refund because he performed the task of replacing the sole. Buyer beware of this so-called artisan; he is an imposter, a mere poser masquerading as a cobbler.

Not a lot of shoe repair places around so I found this place. A little hole-in-wall store in a…read moresmall strip mall. Just off a very smelly broken parking lot. Must have sewer problems. I brought my shoes in that had needed a sole replacement. He gave me a price that seemed like a very very high price for sole repair. I could go into a detail story about how I had to go back 5 times to this store because my shoes weren't ready or the soles continue to come apart from the shoe and he had to repair again and again. This guy is a bad communicator, he says he called me when my shoes were ready, but he didn't. The store smells because he smokes in his store. Hope he doesn't burn it down and the other stores next too him. So much clutter and disarray in his store. He gets a 1 star not 0, because he did eventually and reluctantly refund my money back to me. I should have read the other yelp reviews before I wasted my time and patience on this guy.

Do yourself a favor and heed the previous reviewers' warnings: DO NOT GO HERE…read more I made just that mistake and am very, very sorry I did. The state of the place is horrendous--bordering on squalor. There is also an unpleasant odor permeating and by the looks of the thick dust atop the very outdated shoes lining the rickety shelves along the wall, this hole doesn't see much business. The proprietor isn't any better. He's slovenly, preoccupied and argumentative. On 06/13 I dropped off a pair of shoes for some heel tips, buffing and polishing up. Simple. I told him I wouldn't be picking them up for a while, as I wouldn't be needing them right away. He insisted they needed to be resoled, so I agreed to let him. For this he charged me $35.00. (His credit card machine "is broken," so he takes cash only. Yet he still displays a MasterCard/Visa sign in his storefront window.) I don't know if this was a fair price or not but I do know now that I got reamed. I guess he saw me coming. Towards the end of the month I phoned him to let him know I would be coming in to pick up my shoes after the 1st. He gruffly replied that he had customers and hung up on me. When I went in to get my shoes, he couldn't find them. He kept holding up random pairs of the dusty/nasty-ass shoes from his shelves and asking me if they were mine. When he finally did locate my shoes from somewhere in the back room, not only were they not finished, he hadn't even started working on them. He told me I'd have to come back before 5pm. Returning at my own convenience the following day, I arrived to discover that he STILL hadn't even started working on my shoes. He disappeared into the back for a while, and when he reemerged he held up one of my shoes (which are black stiletto heels) with a heel tip he had just stuck on it that was not only an inch too big for my heel, but beige! I thought WTF? and said "But it's not even the same color. . . ." To which he replied "Oh, did you want them to match?" as though I had a screw loose. I said "Well, YES, I kind of assumed they would." So, he told me to wait while he worked on my shoes. I waited because I didn't want to come back and find yet again that he never started on my shoes. It didn't take him long to finish. He did a hasty slapdash job. Instead of polishing and buffing out the leather uppers and refinishing the metallic finish on the heels, he simply coated the entire shoe with a spray polish, completely ruining the finish on the heels. While he had promised to buff out the scuffs in the leather when I dropped off my shoes, he never even pretended to have attempted this. Now I have to find another cobbler to properly fix what this inept, charlatan bozo has done. I started to write a review here the day I got my shoes back, but as upset as I was, I decided to wait until I'd cooled off. Well, writing this review has made me pissed off all over again. DO NOT GO HERE.

Both men took pride in their craft and did excellent work.. no job was too small. NOW THERE'S A NEW OWNER... BEWARE !!!He is overpriced.... His workmanship is poor and his customer service is terrible. I brought in my Ugg boots to be cleaned (a few spots on the toes) and to be waterproofed for the season. I wore them once and noticed all the spots lifted and were back...Looking like they were never cleaned. He charged me $48 to clean & waterproofing. I brought them back the following week and showed him my boots... and that I paid a lot of money for his service. He said I brought in 2 pairs of shoes (which I didn't), that's why I paid $48... Basically, he was calling me a liar!!! Since then, I've talk to a few other residents of Yorba Linda... one who also brought in Uggs to be waterproof. The Uggs were a brand new Christmas gift and the first time worn in wet weather they were soak!!! All the previous years when I've taken my Uggs to Andreas the water beaded off the suede when they were treated. This guy is overpriced, & doesn't stand behind his work!!! Who knows if he ever did waterproof my Uggs or my friends??? If I could subtract a star I would... but my only choice is one star and that's being TOO GENEROUS!!!
