I would give zero stars for this review. Nelson prides himself as a true artisan, but that is not an accurate assessment of his skill set. He regales with tales about his days doing shoe repairs for Nordstrom before striking out in his own, but his talents are quite limited. My experience proves he is no old-world cobbler. I took a pair of Stuart Weitzman Espadrilles for a resole. The finished product looked good; however, the repair was short-lived. I put the shoes on and my foot sunk through the foot bed; the entire wedge heel was crumbling beneath my feet: DRY ROT. I returned to the shop with my crumbling shoes and Nelson was nonplussed about the damage. He insisted the shoes were intact when he performed the repair but that cannot be true. Removing the old sole required handling the wedge, which obviously was already compromised. A skilled artisan would have said the shoes were beyond repair. Nelson was more concerned about the $255.00 payday he charged for the repair than the actual structure of the shoes. He stood dumbfounded and refused a refund because he performed the task of replacing the sole. Buyer beware of this so-called artisan; he is an imposter, a mere poser masquerading as a cobbler. read more

My girlfriend brought in two pairs of designer shoes (Prada and Jimmy Choo) for simple adjustments -- stretching and adding soles to the Jimmy Choo since they were a bit loose. She was charged $63 for stretching and the soles on Jimmy Choo alone, which is not cheap. The Prada came out ok, but when my gf picked up the Jimmy Choos, she was extremely disappointed with the workmanship. The sole was poorly glued on, with a long string of dried glue visible across the surface. The edges of the pads also had noticeable glue residue, making the shoes look messy and unprofessional. On top of that, the pad they used was too small for the sole, so you can clearly see it doesn't fit the shape of the heel at all. For a service that should have been straightforward -- especially for designer shoes -- the quality was unacceptable. Don't trust this shop for designer items since they clearly don't know how to handle them. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I tried this place out given the reviews but many issues occurred that turned me away forever. I have high end brand shoes and you must be very specific about how you take care of them. I first noticed that they charge you before hand *Big Red Flag*. First time I went i was satisfied. Paid an arm and leg for it but it was fixed. Second time around I brought two pairs of shoes. One from Chloe and another Gianvitto Rossi (white heels) the white heels came out (ok) there was still white marks smudged (basically white paint over the damages) the next one Highly damaged. My wedges had a Jean material on the top. I told him Im ok with the sole being colored to renew the leather and I explicitly told him to clean the rubber and the top Jean strap. Instead I come back and his brother at the time who was in his place while on vacay understood my concerned and agreed with me that his brother should have called me to ask if its ok to dye it. I told him I would have said no. I came back to confront the owner and he informed me he would remove the dye so I thought " ok, case closed" I came back a couple days later. I expected the dye to be removed and be able to see the Jean strap over my wedges. Little did I expect. My wedges Came back worse then I left it! I told him I thought you will remove the dye. He replied " I did" he called in another worker and said with confidence " this is why we take pictures before hand because we had this problem before" ugh.. You think! The lady kept stating the stains and that the shoe is back to its orginal Jean state. I showed them a photo of how the strap is Jean "NOT dye wanna be suede looking material" my shoe came back looking on one side bleached out and the other blue dye with patches on it. He replied " it was better when I did the dye" I said " thats the point! " I came to you asking to clean it not "Dye it" now its ruined. They said this in front of my mom and another customer. I really hope people see through their narcissistic egotistical unreasonable behavior with low class customer service. Trust me you will not get your money back. After paying $45 just to remove dirt, I lost $345 which is the cost of my wedges. I will never return or recommend this place and I look to the BBB so please Be Aware! read more

How could I not like his work as my names Nelson also! Lol I had an accident when a driver was looking at phone as opposed to me ripped off toe crushed foot! So needless to say can bend my foot out straight screws and plates stop that now. Sooooo I need to b put zippers on the insides of all my boots from my Tony Lamas to my scooter boots!! I'm never one to write a poor review about a business, but truly this has been a terrible experience. I would avoid this place at all costs. I asked the owner if he could reattach a small gap between the sole of the shoe and the bottom of the shoe. He said that it would be very simple to do with a little bit of glue. After four days, I came back to see that the hole was reattached properly, but with a ton of glue that was very noticeable along the entire seal. It was very clear he just overly filled it with super glue and let it dry. I asked him if he could wipe down the glue a little bit or make it less obvious, because now there was a ton of glue. Even though the shoe was fixed, he said he could. He took it to the back and came back, and there's now a ton of rips on the back of the shoe because he clearly sanded it down with something. After asking why this happened, for 10 minutes straight, he denied that there were any rips when there clearly were. Then when I clearly pointed it out, he said that it was then my fault for suggesting the glue to be removed. I feel like in every normal scenario, you would tell me, "Hey, if you want to remove the glue, I need to sand down the shoe, and that would cause any damage or discoloring." Instead of just saying, "Yeah, I can definitely do that," taking it back, and then coming back with a bunch of rips on the shoe. But that's not even where the problem really was. I was willing to just walk away and accept that the shoes were a little messed up. It's all right, they're just a pair of shoes. I can get a new pair. The real problem happened when he put the entire blame on me. First, I told him upon receiving the shoes with glue stains, "Hey, is there any way to wipe down the glue so that it's less visible." He said yes. He took it to the back and came back with a bunch of scratches and rips to the shoe where the glue used to be. After asking him about it, he then said there are no rips over and over again. At that point, I pointed exactly to what I was referring to after he denied it multiple times, and then his story changes. He says, "Yeah, there is a rip. You're right, but it's your fault. You're the one that asked me to remove the glue. If you want your shoes fixed, you should have gone to somewhere like Louis Vuitton. We're a shoe repair store. We just repair shoes." But the part that makes no sense is that five minutes ago he just said that there were no riffs. Now that I clearly pointed it out to him and there's no denying it, he now says it's my fault and that I should have known before asking him to wipe off the glue. That's what I'm writing this review for. Honestly, the shoes are not that bad. I'm probably just going to buy a new pair at this point, but it's the fact that this business owner treats his clients by putting the blame on them, by avoiding the problem, and by also ruining the shoes without giving you any heads up that something like that would even happen, that's the problem. it's very, very clear that he does not care about the product he gives back to you or the fixes he makes for your shoes. Not to mention, the tone at which he speaks with you is extremely disrespectful. Like I said, I never write bad reviews ever. This is my first one, and the only reason I decided to write one was because he truly would accept zero accountability. I didn't consider asking for a refund because at this point I'd rather not do business with this type of owner, especially when he refuses to accept any accountability. Such a great experienceI work in the center and wanted to support a local business after my dog ate two of my shoes and they were in need of repairs. The owner Nelson was so so kind and helped me out. I brought a total of three shoes, two that needed to be fixed, and another that was super dirty. He cleaned all three, and repaired the two so quickly, and they look good as new. The white Nikes are 5 years old and have been my work shoes for years. The Dansko shoes were probably the worst, and I'm sooo happy with how they turned out. As soon as I pulled out the marry janes, Nelson knew the brand! ( this man looked hispanic and im only saying this because i didnt get his name) . He asked me for the ticket and I explained my husband gave it to me but had forgotten it. I told him i could give me him all info needed and also describe the bag and issues the bag had . He says " i still need the ticket " and i continue to explain i could give him all the info needed . So he starts going to the back and im describing everything and he looks at me and says " i know i know" like with this snarky attitude. Like dude im trying to prove im not in here trying to come up on a free bag wth. He comes with the bag and i give my husbands full name and he then gives it to me and i leave . This idiot turned my wife's sandals into an arts and crafts project by gluing the strap back into place after it came out. Poor quality work led to the strap breaking again the next time she wore it. To top it all off, when my wife came back to show them the strap broke again, the idiot told her it was the other sandal that he fixed with glue......basically stating that my wife was a liar and trying to get her other sandal fixed. Do not go to this poor attempt of a shoe repair shop. If they can't fix a simple sandal strap, they can't fix any shoe. IN regards to pricing, they charged $18 dollars to glue 1 strap on a sandal with what looks like elementary school Elmer's glue. You're better off just going to your neighborhood kindergarten class to glue your shoe together than these morons. read more

Nelson knows his business!!! Highly recommend The Shoe Clinic! BECAUSE...My husband took in a pair of my old White Naturalizer platform wedge sandals that the insole and strap liners had disintegrated on. Nelson gave a quote and my husband agreed to get them fixed because they were still very pretty and we were hoping to continue using them. A little pricey but was totally worth it and the two-week wait was reasonable for all the custom work he did!!! He absolutely proved that he had been doing this since he was a really young man. They are now one of a kind, just for me! Nelson put leather insoles and included an arch support as well as padding!!! He also put leather strap liners!!! WOW! What a huge difference! They are so comfortable I feel like I'm wearing slippers and are sooo much better than even when they were new! I'm sure they will last a long time! My only regret is that I didn't take before pictures... :-( I noticed a little place on the strap that coming up because it wasn't stitched so I took it back and he fixed it for me right away and had it ready when I came back from my Dr.'s appointment in the area. AND THAT'S NOT ALL...I have also brought in 4 pairs of leather boots: first black, then my over 30-year-old ivory, navy and brown pairs... that he totally refurbished so they look like new. Very reasonably priced as well! Much more reasonable than buying new leather boots these days! My brother-in-law recommended him because he did such a wonderful job resoling and refurbishing a pair of his favorite old dress shoes. And he's very picky! read more
