We were lucky enough to have our wedding at this stunning location in September of 2014, including a three night stay on the property. The grounds are gorgeous, well kept, and somewhat whimsical. The owners (Karen and Jack) have a great eye for blending their beautiful gardens with the stunning Alexander Valley. Everyone was stunned by the beauty of the location. The property functions brilliantly as a wedding location. We had 125 guests for a ceremony, formal seated dinner, dancing, and a photobooth. There is a large area that is well hidden from the rest of the property that is perfect for catering and event prep work. Note that you have to get clever with catering, because the house kitchen is not to be used for cooking for large crowds. We used a paella caterer, which worked brilliantly. One of the secrets the property holds is the beautiful lighting that appears after dark. There is even a chandelier in a tree! We wouldn't have imagined the property could actually look even more beautiful after dark. The home itself is absolutely gorgeous, and it was such a treat to be able to have our entire immediate family together in one spot for three days. We echo the other reviews regarding the owners. Although a brilliant event space, the property is also Karen and Jack's home, and they expect you to respect it as such. So long as you understand this, everything should go smoothly. There were a couple of bumps between the owners and our wedding planner, but everything worked out in the end. Be sure to ask Karen her ideas if you take a tour. I had my wedding at Little House in September 2008 and could not have been happier with every single aspect of the experience, including working with Karen, the lovely, obliging and incredibly welcoming homeowner. I can't stress that last part enough -- Karen made me feel completely comfortable and welcome from the moment I first stepped foot in her home, to months later when I was constantly stopping by to check out the property and arrange details for my wedding. I often remarked to friends and family that it takes a special person to completely open their home and trust strangers to just take over! (Karen and her husband live at Little House and leave for the weekend to allow wedding parties to stay there.) The result of her warmth and openness was our dream wedding -- an intimate backyard event that felt as though we were getting married at home, without having to deal with the headaches of actually getting married at home. My entire family stayed at Karen's for the weekend of our wedding and I'm so glad they did because it was much more fun and intimate than staying in a hotel -- and made for a lot more fun the night of the wedding as we didn't all have to rush out the moment the reception was over. I've been at weddings where you're practically chased out with sticks when the event ends, but not here... we all lingered and chatted and cherished every moment of the evening! We had absolutely no problems with deposits -- quite the opposite, actually, as we had left some things behind and Karen took care of everything for us. And, having looked at some 50 wedding venues, I can say with complete confidence that Little House is very reasonably priced. I'm totally bummed to see these negative reviews because I absolutely loved Little House and Karen. We've received a ton of compliments on our wedding, and Little House as a venue in particular. I could really go on and on... I had the pleasure of being a guest at Little House for one of the most gorgeous weddings I've ever seen. Tucked into a little side road in Sonoma Wine Country, our party felt like we were worlds away from the busy lives we left behind for the weekend. As an event space, it's wonderfully functional. The valet parking was easy and out of the line of vision from the celebration, the ceremony was in a sweet, protected little side yard, and the reception rocked well into the night around the pool and under the stars. The adjacent vineyard makes a lovely backdrop for sunset photographs, and the house was a such a pleasant change from the sterile event spaces that often host weddings. I can't speak for the costs or rental procedure, but the house was lovely and we didn't encounter any problems as guests. I'd definitely check out the Little House as an option if you're planning a wedding in the Healdsburg area. read more

My husband and I got married here, and we still get comments about how gorgeous the wedding was. It is a picture perfect place that feels intimate and breathtaking at the same time. Being surrounded by a vineyard was absolutely lovely, and we didn't have to go to a huge winery to do it! The house was lovely, and Karen had such great advice on different vendors. We also rented the house for the bridal party to stay in. Taking care of the cat was easy (just feeding), and we didn't have any problems with him. The venue deserves a high five! There's no place more cost effective and charming than Karen Neureuter's The Little House and we rented out the whole house for the entire weekend. What an incredible way to spend unrushed time with our friends and family. We wanted the atmosphere to be fresh, comfortable, and easy on the eye. Essentially, we were going for an atmosphere a kin to a dinner at our place with friends], kicked up a notch. The Little House did just that. We fell in love in the Bay Area taking road trips to wine country. The landscapes take our breath away and the easy lifestyle is totally inspiring. I had my wedding here and it was super fantastic. The wedding turned out beautifully and was picture perfect. Karen was very helpful and while she did have specific asks, it is her home and you know that going into it. If you want a corporate-style venue, there's plenty in the area, Little House is for the homey, super casual type of event and we loved it. There was some confusion afterward about an antique lighter (some relatives moved it to keep away from kids), but that was quickly cleared up w/o any badness. We love Little House and I still talk about it whenever anyone asks about our wedding. read more

As I read the only other review written about Little House Weddings I was almost wondering if we were talking about the same venue! Not only was this the MOST incredible place to get married because of the scenery, setting, and garden landscaping I found planning it and working with Karen who owns this home far opposite from the other review. I felt everything was up front and was in writing. You must know this is their home that they rent out for couples getting married. I have to admit I would want whoever is in my home to respect it and leave it as it was found. Anyway, I cherish the memories from our wedding and know that it would be hard to beat with all the places there are for pictures etc.... After all, other than of course the memories, it is the pictures that you will have to document you special day. The house is covered with creeping fig which must have taken years to grow and make an amazing backdrop, not to mention the vineyards that are 20 feet from their backyard! Anyone planning a vineyard wedding would be silly to not HIGHLY consider this their location of choice!! read more

Terrible experience! ! Karen was extremely rude and not anyone I would recommend working with or trust to work with for a wedding event. I seriously don't think she even wants to rent her venue out or work with people cordially. I traveled 3 hours to visit her venue with my Fiancé and parents and I called to say we were running 20 minutes late and she told me to just 'forget about coming' not even to reschedule. ..unbelievable, why is she even in the wedding venue business ? read more

I can confirm this review since I was a bridesmaid in this wedding and witnessed the entire event. Now granted, I am not sure the name calling is entirely appropriate, but I can convey that the state of the home when they departed was such that warranted a full deposit refund. It's true as well that breakfast was only cooked once and there was most definitely not grease buildup from the wedding party. While it seems like a he-said she said situation I would not recommend this vendor for your wedding site. read more

As a Day-Of wedding coordinator and having been in the event industry for many years, I've seen dozens of event sites in wine country. Little House Weddings is simply one of the most beautiful sites a bride could choose. While the panoramic view of mountains and the world-renowned Young Vineyards provides an unparalleled backdrop for memorable photographs, there is still that sweet, intimate feel that only a private garden home can give. The owners do ask that you take care of the property, of course, and give a well-defined list of guidelines to follow. I've had four very happy clients there this season with amazing pictures and beautiful memories that will continue to remind them for years of their lovely wedding day. read more

I have to totally disagree with the negative comment about the Little House. I had my wedding there last year and first and foremost it is the most beautiful, intimate and affordable spot in the wine country. The owners are not crotchety as indicated in the other review; they were extremely helpful and responsive to all our questions and needs as we planned our wedding. They were in no way conniving. You do have to remember that this is someone's home where they live all year round, so yes they are a bit particular about certain things and have very specific rules. But if you treat their home as though it were your own, as we did, you'll get your entire deposit back in a week or two. There is a cat to feed, but it takes all of 30 seconds a day and you hardly see the cat otherwise. I can't recommend this place enough. It is a beautiful gem in Sonoma County that will make for a very unique and memorable wedding. read more

If you are looking for the perfect venue for a wedding, look no further. This is the most perfect spot imaginable for a wedding. My daughter and I looked at many many places, but once we visited The Little House, we knew that this was the spot. It is surrounded by beautiful lush green vineyards and is located in the beautiful Alexander Valley in the middle of Sonoma Wine Country. It is secluded and has beautiful gardens and landscaping and is so beautiful. The lawns provide a perfect place for the wedding with the vineyards in the background. The upper lawns were perfect for the dinner and reception. The pool was beautiful and offered a great place to dance around. The home is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. It is California Craftsman and looks like it came out of a Architectural/Interior design magazine. The rooms are perfect for the bride to prepare for the wedding. You can also rent the entire house for an additional fee and stay there for the weekend. We rented it for Friday (day before the wedding) and the night of the wedding (Sat). My daughter and her friends split the cost and it was perfect. They could all be together and not have to drive after the celebration and had a very intimate fun time after all the other guests left. Karen, the owner of the house, is just incredible. She is such a warm and genuine person and is very very helpful. We loved her the minute we met her. She helped us find a great venue for the rehearsal dinner (Medlock Ames) and also recommended another house to rent for family. She made the whole experience hassle free and is such a pleasure to work with. The deposit was returned in full with absolutely no problems. My daughter was so extremely happy with the whole wedding and loved the location. It was "better than I ever dreamed of". If you are looking for an intimate, beautiful, comfortable venue for a wedding, you will not find a better place or better person to deal with!!!!! Feel free to contact me. I can't not pick a star but I don't give this one any stars. Let me start by saying - my wedding was beautiful and the best day of my life and it was in no small part to the beautiful site where it was held. BUT - THE CROTCHETY OLD HAG THAT OWNS THE PLACE MAKES IT NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE. She is dishonest and conniving and takes advantage of young couples after they are already committed to using her place. She doesn't include major items in her contract , i.e. like having to house-sit her cat that poops all over the place during your wedding or furniture that appears right in the middle of your wedding set up and cannot be moved or best yet, the light going out during the evening upsetting the electrical system and threatening to set off the water sprinklers while your guests are dining at tables on the lawn! I seriously could go on but what's the point - she charges a ton of money (which under normal business practices would be perfectly acceptable) and finds every possible loop hole for not refunding your deposit (i.e. she claims there was grease dripping from the vent over the stove - we cooked breakfast once - are you going to tell me there is grease build up and drippings in the vent over the stove after one cooking??? read more
