Very nice, clean place. Even the bathrooms were nice and clean. Pleasantly surprised! I highly recommend getting a chicken cutlet sub, their fried cutlets were phenomenal with their home made breadcrumbs & the sub bread itself was soft fresh and tasty. I wish I lived here, I would be a frequent customer! Friendly & speedy service too is always refreshing. Ignore the haters. They either have a grudge or they have never been here. Pretty standard family run Italian restaurant focusing on NY style and deep dish pizza. Note i did not say neapolitan nor sicilian style, cause this aint either, no matter what the menu says. It is good pizza, especially for small town NY, but it is the later and not the former I wont comment on the rest of the food as I did not eat it, but there were a lot of locals ordering on a friday night, both dining in and take out. Service was excellent, both the take out and my observations of the dine in. Full bar, which is nice. Like i said-NY style pizza is good, but not great, service is excellent and has a full bar. Plus the inside is nice. If your in the area, get a pie. You wont be disapointed. Just dont expect real Neopolitan pizza. read more

We stopped by on our way to our lake house. The place was literally serviced by two women running from one table to the next. Service needs to improve for us to attempt this place again. Linguini with white clam sauce was average at best. Same with my husband's pene aka vodka. We waited at least an hour to get food. There are so few restaurants up there that people can go for a nice night out. Hope they improve. There were two gentlemen sitting next to us who finally got up and left. I've lived here MOST of my life and so this is an overview from my whole life experience here, with all the bad being within the last two years. The food, is "okay", the pizza was a dud two years ago, but since the current pizza maker has started (whom people are shit and judge a person based off their past) makes the best pizza this place has had since as long as I can remember, since it became "Little Italy" (after Nunzio's sold). Since becoming Little Italy this place has been passed down from father to son over the years. I have to say, regardless of how good you think the food maybe, the person or persons operating make the place what it is. I will NOT spend a single dime in here. I've witnessed the owner talk ill of customers when they walk far enough away that he thinks they cannot hear them. He's thrown food at customers just for a customer stating "This isn't mine, I didn't order this, I ordered _________", he speaks to his employees like they're inferior of him and that they're trash. He smokes like a chimney and ashes are everywhere in the back. Granted the man is dealing with a lot of person stuff, but he should leave it at the door. Do not treat your employees or ESPECIALLY YOUR CUSTOMERS like they're to you. Without your employees or customers you would have nothing. The worst about this is that he has a loving, sweet, kind, caring and EXTREMELY strong wife (raised here locally) that needs him, but instead he's at work taking his life frustrations out on his customers-and poor employees. I've heard him arguing with some of the younger waitresses yelling and cussing over silliness. The man can NEVER BE WRONG, and sadly parents love for their children has no boundaries and they uphold him and defend his actions. This used to be one of the best places for authentic Italian food but not everything is as it seems. I've ordered calamari with 2 REAL pieces of calamari, the rest was frozen imitation. I know 'el dente' is their way of cooking pastas, but a lot of the time it's like chewing on glue, it sticks to my real teeth, badly. The sauce isn't spectacular either. One the pizza it's meh-but the pizza is always cooked perfect. 2 years ago I ordered a Hawaiian pizza with ham, pineapple and jalapeños-the dough, was completely raw in the center. I hadn't returned for two years and just recently did a few months back. They have a new young man making pizza-he cooks it the best. Everything else is hit or miss. Oh yea and inflation in chicken, I get, but $15+ for chicken wings the size of a 2 month old chicken-unacceptable. Their mild sauce is great though if you can handle spiciness. And their salad is great because they use actual lettuce from a head not bagged crap. And their ranch is pretty delicious. Their knots are....mediocre, because they either don't warm them up for you OR they over cook them and then you have to ask for marinara which is usually cold as well. BUT if I have to suggest to anyone if you want really good food, Italian and American go to the Circle E. That's where I started to go after the bad Hawaiian pizza ordeal-and again recently after witnessing the owner treat others less than human. Shame on him! He should just give it to another relative and go spend time with his loving wife! Man needs some serious anger management and should go to school for business to learn a thing or two. I only give this two stars because the salad is good and so is the pizza if Clinton is working the pizzas. read more

Supposedly they open at 11:00. We just walked in at 3:30 in the afternoon. They said they could offer us one plain slice, and one meat slice. We asked them if they were making any more food. Before they sold this was my absolute favorite place to eat. Pizza was delicious, shrimp Alfredo was delicious, staff was amazingly friendly, it was so good. Now that it sold.. I'm not happy about it. The pizza is different sauce wise and crust wise. It all together tastes different. The restaurant smells different doesn't smell like authentic Italian.. I know change is good sometimes but not really this time.. I miss the old owners and will likely not eat here very often read more

We hadn't been in since last year. The place is clean and bright. Our waitress was wonderful...full of energy and made sure every table was happy. My wife had chicken parm and I had a meatball parm sub with sausage added. Wow! Excellent! Everything was fresh and homemade, even the bread for my sandwich. No star should be an option. I was in there 2 days ago. the guy some suggest is high wasn't there. we can't blame him. This pizzeria has gone downhill over two decades. the ingredients are a big part of the problem. I had a sicilian pie which is usually consistent and usually consistently yummy. the crust was obviously really old and stale. it Didn't rise on some sections. it was lacking in flavor also. It was pretty gross. Asked and paid for fresh garlic, not! not much garlic to speak of. we got a regular pepperoni pie, it was a six on a scale of one to ten. the owner is paying for this business by cutting ingredients. sad to see it go. it I wanted bad pizza I can get it 5 minutes from me at Villa Como. I could see my food sitting on the top of the oven I asked 3X is that my food the NEW owner completely ignored me, and the drug addict cooking pizza touched everything for NO REASON! Food that was already done he kept opening boxes and just poking the food... Incredible mouth watering rich Italian food. Been here several times. I've tried there crab stuffed flounder with ziti noodles and chunks of scallop and shrimp in Alfredo sauce. Amazing lasagna and veal parm. They serve perfect pizza if you're into crispy NY style crust by the slice. Nice friendly atmosphere. Oh and you're going to have to try their tiramisu or cannoli before leaving. Can't wait to go back! Five stars definitely read more

Tasted like Nonna was in the kitchen! We stopped here for dinner on our motorcycling tour in the Catskills. Boy am I glad that we did! The thin-crust pizza was perfect, just crispy enough that the cheese was still loose and stringy. Also got raviolis with a tomato sauce; the sauce is incredible! It came with fresh mozzarella melted on top. You can tell they use fresh, quality ingredients here. Felt like I was back in Italy! 100% recommend & Will certainly be returning next time I'm in the area. read more

This restaurant was rebuilt from a total loss fire. It has a new open dining room. The menu is a typical Italian pizzeria type menu. The pizza is excellent and they will add whatever you like. I usually get a meatball hero which is served on a flatter type bread. Service is always pleasant and accommodating. There might be a little wait time because everything is custom made. They are right off route 17 in Hancock.No delivery service, but you can call ahead. They also have a full service bar. Prices are reasonable. read more

Delicious Small Town Surprise We immediately enjoyed our server Tobi. She was delightful. Our meal was super delicious. The special of the night, stuffed flounder with a cream shrimp sauce over pasta was the unique and oh so good! We were not rushed and thoroughly enjoyed chatting with Tobi, eating dinner and then having a great cup of coffee to finish the evening. I ordered takeout. The ziti was cooked al dente which was appropriate. However I had asked that the garlic in the sauce not be over powering which had been a problem in the past. The Garlic wasn't the issue. The hot pepper was. I've never had so much hot pepper in a marinara sauce. It was almost in edible. The salad was iceberg red onion couple of olives and a slice of tomato with your choice of dressing. Garlic knots were passable. You must insist that they not use so much garlic and hot pepper, unless that's what you ordered ; e.g. a carbonara sauce. read more

I stopped here on a road trip to Ithaca a while back. (about a year). I've been meaning to get on here and write a review... so yes, they left an impression. From the outside it doesn't look like much... old sign, old storefront. Parking isn't the best... easy for some highway travellers to say fuggeddaboutit and go to McDonalds down the way. The inside is dated and typical but that isn't why I seek out these places... there food was awesome! That's what I hoped for and that's what I got. Whenever I have an eggplant parm sub I think of what I am missing by not being in lil ole Hancock NY. The sub bread was (if I'm not mistaken) made from pizza dough or close to it. That and the gravy (that means sauce folks) made the sub awesome. If I ever head back up that way, I am gonna make sure to stop just for it. Best Italian food around. Family owned restaurant. Real Italians straight from Sicily. Homemade sauce, bread, etc. They get the best quality supplies. Big restaurant, so it is not tight and crowded. Has outdoor seating so you can enjoy the sun while you eat. Beautiful bar. Very Clean, especially the restrooms. Well put together after the fire. Prices are good especially for the food you get. First time visitors looking for some lunch while travelling rte17. Nice place, friendly staff, family run. Had sausage pizza which was excellent. Nice crust. Also had mozzarella sticks, nicely fried; Light and crispy---no dark rancid tasting oil on these logs. Nice marinara sauce for dipping. Got take-out manicotti for my dad; he said it was delicious. They are definitely proud of their place: door leading into the kitchen from the front counter is propped open revealing an immaculate kitchen. Bathrooms clean too! Was up here for a summer position. I stopped in a few times. Pizza is really doughy & the one time we got the vegetable pizza we had to use a fork & knife it was mushy. Sauce is kind of blah. I had gnocchi's one & a spaghetti dish & they brought a rigatoni/pencil point macaroni instead. So it's ok not great. A dominos or pizzahut is similar. I saw a large group of 10 come in. They put the tables together & seated them. Then a lady came over & said if you're only getting pizza I can't let you sit here. However, there was a local family at a large table right next to them having pizza. So not too friendly to out of towners. read more
