Passing thru town after visiting HOF. Took a shot and was not disappointed. Calzone dough was tender inside and crispy out. Loaded with ricotta and a fair amount of meat. Hadn't had linguini with white clam sauce for years so gave it a chance and was not disappointed. The whole clams were tender, and while I appreciate the added clams they were a bit chewy. UPDATE: Unfortunately the food didn't agree with our stomachs. My husband and I both felt sick afterwards. Very disappointing. I taught at Roscoe school over 15 years ago and had one Italian kindergartener at that time. I knew his family owned Raimondo's. The kid only spoke Italian and my first thought was, well, this muse be a real Italian restaurant. 15 years later we were on our way back from the wedding upstate with the family and I remembered this restaurant and finally decided to try it. I expected an old fashioned Italian restaurant, but unfortunately it was more than just old fashioned. It needs serious renovation. We are talking musty carpets, old sad furniture, brown flowery curtains. The worst part were the bathrooms - tile was cracking under my feet, rust on radiators, rusty stains on walls. It was bad. My husband said the men's bathroom was renovated- go figure. Now, the food was decent. My family had pasta dishes and I had a panini. My husband who also happens to be Italian said that the tomato sauce "okay" which is what he says when he doesn't like something. I had a beef and barley soup, which was my favorite part of my meal. My daughter liked the taste of her pasta, and my husband enjoyed his Chicken dish. The service was average. There was only one waitress, and she tried, but the service was still somewhat lacking. No bread was brought until we asked. Dirty plates kept piling on the table (she eventually cleaned them up once she saw there is no room for food). The most confusing part was when she brought the check and didn't explain that we are supposed to pay upfront. We wasted time waiting. The prices were decent, no issues there. Was able to walk in on a Friday evening with a group of 4 with no reservation. The staff were friendly and attentive to my friend's dietary restrictions. What is super nice is that the prices are very reasonable for the portions, and all pasta dishes include soup/salad and hot Italian bread. The salad tasted pretty fresh, and the homemade Italian vinaigrette was very good. I got the spaghetti with meatballs, mushrooms, and Italian sausage. The sausage was cooked a little too long, and the sauce was okay. I thought it was a little strange that the mushrooms weren't mixed into the sauce. It was OK... seems like a family run Italian restaurant. The sauce was good. The wait staff was OK. We had to ask several times for things. The food was acceptable not fantastic but good, portion size was good. Didn't realize until after we paid the check that there had been a special price that we had not been charged, we were charged regular price. Other than that, it's not a terrible place could use some work on the service department making sure that servers are aware of specials and prices. Dining room is very loud. The back room would've been nicer for a couple coming in instead of being put in the front with the pizza and the loudness is much more apparent. read more

We have gotten a pie from here a couple times. Unfortunately, there is a hint of COLOGNE that comes with your pie order. Clearly whoever makes the crust wears some cologne or aftershave or something strong on their hands that you literally taste it in the pie! It's not pleasant, not getting it again. We are big fans of Raimondo's. it is a reliable stop on our way upstate. Usually the staff are super friendly and the pizza is always good. We were surprised this time to find a very surly waitress who was quite rude. I had to ask another server to bring us silverware and napkins. We always order baked ziti for the kids at our local Italian so we did the same here. When my vegetarian child discovered lumps of meat in her baked ziti, I asked the waitress if the baked ziti had beef in it, explaining that my child is a vegetarian. The waitress answered very sharply, like I was stupid, "yes! It's baked ziti." So rude. My partner explained the situation to another server and he was great- he brought a bowl of plain penne with tomato sauce. The rude waitress continued to stay rude for the entirety of our meal. We'll be back to try other dishes, but once we saw the large amount of seafood options on there, we figured this was something the chef must enjoy and shines at and we were not wrong. Clams Raimundo, a perfect fried calamari (which seems like a simple thing, but in fact isn't- these were crispy, wonderfully battered and seasoned, and very fresh), and a red snapper puttanesca special that was a delight. I was on my drive to Cooperstown and got off Rt. 17 in Roscoe for a bathroom break & quick bite to eat. It was either the Roscoe Diner or this place. I chose this place. I ordered 2 Sicilian slices. Friendly family restaurant run by a friendly family. Four of us for dinner on a Friday night. We had individual glasses of house wine and the fried zucchini to start. Since the dinners come with soup or salad, two of us had soup (broccoli cheddar and red clam chowder which were reported as good but not great) and two had the garden salad with the homemade Italian vinaigrette dressing which was fresh, crisp and bright. Entrees were a tender and savory pork osso bucco, shrimp parmigiana, chicken marsala and chicken Sorrentino. Portions on all were large (half of the Marsala and Sorrentino meals went home) and all were hits except for the shrimp parm which suffered from somewhat small shrimp bland flavor. We were too full for dessert but the cannoli shells waiting to be filled to order were tempting. Service was very attentive and pleasant and prices were reasonable. Tip - there was a significant savings for paying with cash versus credit, so bring cash if you can. If we ever make our way back to the Roscoe / Livingston Manor area we will definitely come back to Ramondo's. read more

....being Italian my wife and I were looking for a good place for some good Italian food now that we bought a cabin up at Lake Muskoday....well, we found it...food was reasonably priced and portions were large....I had the breaded chicken cutlet ciambatta topped with melted mozzarella, proscioutto and roasted peppers....it came with french fries and a pickcle...I had a diet pepsi....my wife ordered the chicken parmagianna dinner with linguine and a salad....she had a Miller Light to drink...even though we didnt have anything for lunch we still took food home.... Kaitlyn was a wonderful waitress and came back often to ask if everything was OK....One of the Raimondo daughters even stopped to ask if everything was OK....I conversed a little with "mama" Raimondo inquiring as to what part of Italy the family was from....well, the family is from Sicily.... We topped off our meals with an expresso for me and a cappucinno for my wife as we had an hour and 45 minute drive back to The People's Repubic of New Jersey....I believe the entire meal came to like $45 and gave Kaitlyn a deserving tip.... We will surely be back....many more times....if you are in the area you must stop in....it's a nice warm "family" feeling with great food....and yes there was Sinatra music playing in the background ....Ciao! These owners are extremely rude to you when they are busy. They act like they are doing you a favor but they are in business because of people like myself that give them business weekly being that I live in the area. This past Labor Day weekend was the last time for me eating there. I understand that they are busier than usual and the wait for my food would be longer than expected but when I kindly asked when I should be expecting my order they snapped at me rather than nicely answering me and apologizing for the delay to a loyal costumer that keeps them in business during the cold winter months when Roscoe isn't as busy with tourists. I ended up leaving and went to the Greek restaurant Kasos next door. They were busy but polite and appreciated me as a customer. Shame on you Raimondos for treating a long term customer like myself as If I was as an inconvenience to you. read more

Never in my life have I walked out of a restaurant until my visit to Raimondo's for lunch today. Waitress was incredibly short with us and downright rude. We arrived shortly after picking up my daughter from a nearby sleepaway camp. Hard to imagine anything could ruin our day. Well boy, was I wrong. Pizza ovens were out of order and there was no mention of this until after we had been seated. Waitress was very matter of fact about it and couldn't understand our disappointment or maybe just didn't care. She was annoyed when we asked her for more time to order and was even more irritated when we asked for clarification about what was/wasn't available in light of the oven issue. We felt as though we had been scolded by the teacher after we ordered, so we went up to the counter, cancelled our order and left. Had I not had my two daughters with me, I don't think I could have kept my composure as well as I did. We'll be going to the Roscoe diner from now on. read more

Stopped in here en route home from a weekend up in Ellicottville. We were hard pushed to find anything open on Labor Day but Raimondo's was. Kind of wish we hadn't bothered... At first glance of the menu, i thought 'this place is pretty expensive, $15.99 for a carbonara and aren't in New York City..', but then realized that this included either a soup or salad + bread so actually not a bad deal. I opted for the french onion soup with my carbonara. It was super salty and this was the general consensus amongst most of my party, including those who had the clam chowder. One of our party even poured some tap water into her french onion soup in attempt to make it less salty. The pasta is served in HUGE portions which is great.... if you haven't already seen off bread and a soup. Unfortunately, this is up there with one of the worse carbonaras I have had. Lashings of parmesan and chilli flakes added more flavour to what began as a very heavily creamed, stodgy dish. After a few bites, I decided to take the rest of this home with me. When I heated it up for lunch the next day, the amount of oil that came off of it was ridiculous. I seemed to be pouring it away for ages before the dish even became edible. To summarise, it sucked. Would I be back? No, because I doubt i'll find myself in Roscoe again anytime soon. Would I reccomend? Definitely not. read more

This past Saturday, the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of NY had their annual retreat to Roscoe, NY where we are owners of the property which hosts hunting, summer camps, and houses the historic Dundas Castle. On our way up there while stopping at the Roscoe Diner, we noticed that the bus was smoking. Long story short, after our meeting and retreat were done, some of us who didn't have a way back waited for the bus to be repaired for our way home. While waiting, a few of us decided to stop at the Raimondo's for refreshment and to kill time while the part to repair the bus was en route. For those who were waiting about 1/8th of a mile away with the broken down coach, I decided to order 2 pizzas that I was willing and able to pay for. When I went to pay, the gentleman (who I suspected to be a fellow Mason) behind the counter offered the pies, 2 sodas, and all the fixings FREE OF CHARGE. I even offered to have my card run for $1.00 so I can at least offer the staff a generous tip but he respectfully declined. I was overtaken with his act of kindness and it truly shows the world how, "...Masons love one another...". This man didn't know me from a hole in a wall but was sympathetic to our situation and offered a small token of selflessness which made a bad situation that much more palpable. On top of that, the service at the restaurant was timely and friendly, the pizza was phenomenal, and I will always recommend Raimondo's Restaurant & Pizza to anyone in the Roscoe, NY area. Mediocre at best. Staff were not overly attentive or friendly. Waitress spilled sauce on my jacket, pocket book, and clothing. Soup was cold. Entrees were saturated in oil. Chicken cutlet parmigiana was made with a chicken patty-the kind you were served in school. Oh-they added a surprise ingredient to the pasta-paper!
