Amazing amazing food and service! We ordered 2 pastas and 1 pizza to go and it took about 20 minutes to be done. The pastas were so flavorful and the portions were generous. We felt the pizza dough could have been a bit more fluffy but the toppings and flavors overall were great. The cashier helping us was so sweet and talkative (in a good way). They give free bread as well as an appetizer. Definitely would come back if I was ever in the area again! read more

My friend and I went to Peppino's for lunch two weeks ago- and it was fantastic! I had the shrimp ceaser salad and she had the bruschetta salad- PHENOMENAL! My salad's shrimp were HUGE, sweet and perfectly cooked! Hand shaved cheeses, and the salad was gigantic! AMAZING! Her salad she said was delicious and very flavorful- it looked it! Balsamic vinegar, full of tomatoes, greens and herbs! I can't say anough about how FAB the lunch was- the waitress was attentive, not pushy, and allowed us to chat and eat- I had Coke and my friend had juice- large glasses and were were stuffed afterwards because the salads were so big for the prices! This is not a customer-first establishment. We are local to the area & visit Peppino's a couple of times a year. MDW around 11:30 on Monday was apparently the wrong time to go. The service & counter help looked disgusted to deal with customers. I ordered a burger-- no bun-- and asked for the vegetable as a side (I cannot eat fries). I was told they won't do the vegetable. There were no other options offered. With no apology, offering, or justification for why I would get a lesser option/less food. I paid the same amount for a burger with some shredded lettuce & tomatoes on top. My husband had enough food for 2 meals, and I was left with a piece of meat to eat. I have never been to a restaurant that doesn't feel the need to accommodate by offering SOMETHING else to a patron who needs to swap out french fries. read more

Went for dinner in off season. I avoid it during Summer and Leaf peeping. As a local we don't have many choices close by. Had a large pizza and a ham & cheese calzone. Table service was slow, Food quality was OK could have had more ham in the calzone. Prices are high and more comparable to NYC where quality is better. I had decent expectations, but overall experience was ruined by the customer service. Food, ordered the penne a la vodka, linguine w clam sauce and chicken with marsala. The good a la vodka was good, penned was al dente and sauce was flavorful. I thought it was a bit too cheesy for me. Linguine w clam sauce was good. The only saving grace of the entire experience. Chicken marsala. Not sure what the other reviewer was talking about but this dish was poorly done. The marsala wine was not reduced enough. Taking a bite of the dish you feel lkle u are jit in the face with the alcoholic bite of the marsala sauce. U should taste the marsala without the sharp taste of uncooked alcohol. So this is where the whole experience went down the hill. We shared that the kids can't eat it with the super strong alcoholic taste, so the manager offered to take it off. My parents wanted to eat mussles but they aren't fond of regular marinara or fra diavolo sauce. The manager mentioned that can do it in bianco style. So we went with it. The dish was eh. Mussles were not flavorful and over cooked. Once we saw the bill, they added a bunch of random fees. They charged an uncharge to do the dish in bianco because it wasn't on the menu. We didnt have an issue with paying an upcharge if they were upfront about it. Not once did the damage mention this. They also included an upcharge for swapping a dish. Again no mention of this when the option was given. We dine out alot and we have never experienced this. We understand the restaurant has policies. But if you have policies like these surcharges you need to be transparent about it w the customers. The server was not only inexperienced and completely unapologetic. The manager finally adjusted the bill but that was after some stern words were had. I had somewhat decent hopes for this place but was completely disappointed. If u are vacationing in the area, I suggest you avoid this place. The food is definitely not worth thr hassle and poor service. read more

We are very accustomed to eating traditional , high quality Italian restaurant food in NYC and the Bronx. After hearing from so many that this place was so great, we decided to make the drive to have dinner. That was a few years ago and we now are there everytime we are upstate. The staff is amazing! The owner and his family are present and working which seems to be their secret sauce! Since secret sauce is on the mind, they also sell their own sauce! Delicious for the nights that we need something quick and are not in the area. All around excellent restaurant for lunch and dinner and fits any budget. I had the pleasure of dining here this weekend. I was with of group of 12 people. FIrst off, our server, Lucy, was wonderful. It is not easy for cover a group of 12, but she did an amazing job. I had requested a dish that was not on the menu, and the chef was able to oblige even though it was a busy night. Place is clean and inviting,servers are good,but the food is aggressively mediocre. Anyone with Italian restaurant experience would have to agree. Bread for the table was low end sandwich rolls. Salad was made with ice berg lettuce. There is nothing signature about the food,all average. I don't think anyone really checks the plates as they leave the window. I ordered a chicken Parm sub. That should be a slam dunk to wow a diner, instead it was weak. My wife ordered the meat lasagna..weak at best. Place could be ten times better if there heads were in the game. read more

My brother took me to this place in my most recent visit. I'm always a little skeptical when it comes to Italian food upstate but this place will be on list of regular places to eat at from now on. Everything was so good none of us really even talked we just ate and within minutes my plate was clean. I had the Veal and it was cooked perfectly and they had no issues when I requested the same sauce as my meat on my pasta. The place is decorated great everything is like new. The best was the lobster bisque (special soup of the day - $1 up charge with meal), though it wasn't your typical lobster bisque - it had noodles (and maybe imitation crab meat?) inside. The side salad with the spaghetti had a 50 cent up charge for Caesar dressing (which we got bc they did not have ranch - just thousand island). The spaghetti and meatballs wasn't bad either though not any different from what you could make with a dried pasta box and jarred sauce at home (honestly my husband makes better). Same for the penne a la vodka (which I was only able to have a few bites of). Sadly, would not recommend. read more

I came here for the pizza bc I only love NY style pizza and I was not disappointed. Even if it was slightly salty, I still enjoyed the generous w mozzarella cheese, the thin thin crust, and the fluffy and light but chewy dough. The crust was probably the best crust I had in ages. Almost like a hybrid filó dough thin top layer and chewy core without much density. The waitress was very sweet, gave our dog fresh water in a clean washed bowl, let our dog sit with us on the outside table which had an umbrella for sun. The salad was huge and could be shared with 2-3 people. Calamari was done just right ... light and crispy with lots of homemade marinara sauce. The surrounding area is beautiful in the Catskills with lakes and farms. The town is nice and friendly. The bathroom was nicely done, clean, and spacious. read more

I've come in here for years, I went this past Sunday service was trash. The one waitress who wasn't tending bar was scattering between a few tables and waiting on me and my friends at the bar (she did fantastic) she was waiting on us because the bartender did not show up on time. My friends and I made 3 people and the older man at the bar made four. I don't know if we were being ignored because a waitress was waiting on us before the bartender came in, but it didn't matter when our food came out. Sunday is panini day in this place, I had the bruschetta panini, one piece of prosciutto on it, ONE PIECE. I used to come in looking forward to "Panini Sunday" No more. The food is typically good but I've been twice in the last week and both times, not all employees were wearing masks. On both occasions I made a gentle comment and there was no real reaction. I know cases might be fewer in this area but it made me uncomfortable to see people preparing my food without covering their mouths, given the current pandemic. WOW WOW WOW!!! I had the honor of being in Callicoon for a week. Once my son and I found Peppino's it became our go to. The staff is so giving and gracious! Last night my son had gone back to the city so I decided to sit at the bar and have a cocktail. Little did I know that MILLY the most amazing bartender would turn this into a THREE hour experience!! Her cocktails were amazing, she even had created her own all natural blueberry raspberry syrup for the most delicious margarita ever!! She was so gracious Even after a very long PRIDE CALLICOON CELEBRATION!!! Milly truly made my night and my new friends night as well!!! This spot is AMAZING. We've come here multiple times a year for their reliable pizza and good service as my FIL lives in the area. We came for dinner (stuffed shells, two pizzas, Caesar salad, antipasto salad, garlic bread and mozzarella sticks) and unfortunately, most of the food was surprisingly tasteless. My guess is that with inflation, they're using cheaper ingredients? Who knows but I was disappointed by the food. This is a very nice restaurant with great Italian food. They get a little bit crowded and you may want to make a reservation. My only complaint is that they charge a 8% service charge and then a credit card surcharge. This is not necessary and unfair and I believe the people tip less if you have to pay in cash. read more

We have been looking for a good Italian place to go to while we are at our weekend place up here, and definitely found our "go to" spot! Peppino's checked all of the boxes! Great atmosphere, all around cleanliness, friendly and knowledgeable staff and best of all - delicious food! My mom and I ordered a raspberry and a pomegranate martini to drink and both were so good! They were rimmed with sugar with a hint of lime zest which added a great touch! For dinner I ordered the Penne Vodka, my mom got the Chicken Parmesan, and my dad got the Eggplant Parmesan.
